  1. Undefeated Freshmen and Junior Varsity teams last year seem to point toward another strong squad. We may be losing some star power on defense, but not the coaching staff.

I'm hoping we can just talk about the team and the district in this thread. Walker Valley will be awfully strong.

  2. I remember when the legal system used to convict people, not social media. I also remember when your actions represented yourself and your upbringing, not every job / organization / school / or team you've ever been a part of. Even if innocence is proven, the ignorance will continue to erode away high quality people. I hope yall's children are never accused of a crime.

  3. Righhhhtttttt..ðŸ‘ðŸ‘ðŸ‘ðŸ‘ðŸ‘ðŸ‘

he hate me not...have you forgot about the MR FOOTBALL FINALIST that Punched his GIRLFRIEND in the face....Hummmm ..sounds like assault to me...and last I checked mr football is an award for FOOTBALL!! and from what I hear that wasn't HIS 1st rodeo either..keep trying to make it sound like ooltewah is the high and mighty....Hamilton County sheriff's office was called to ooltewah around 100 times last year alone for disipline and or disturbances...looks like that 1 for every hardship transfer the have

This is exactly the type of garbage that papers and televisions are advertising falsely

  4. I have never had a problem with Ooltewah football, but some of the things that have come out since then makes me and a lot of other folks wonder. Like all of the hardships granted? What's that about? Read an article saying apparently their could be a lot of illegal students going there for sports? Did that include football players? I guess we will never really know until things come out if they ever do? From reading the article it makes you think that Ooltewah has been getting inner city students to come there for sports, whether it's fully true or not who knows? That's what makes me mad, to think if that was the case that we may have lost to a bunch of cheaters, you know? It all just makes you wonder, that's all. No hard feelings towards any Ooltewah posters here, but that's just the impression I got from the article I read. And weren't some of the football players on the basketball team and involved in this as well? Yeah, I hate to paint a broad brush, and I know their are great people there, but things have gone on there and the truth is starting to come out. It just sucks that a kids life was in jeopardy for that to happen. Not trying to offend anyone here. I enjoy talking with all of the Ooltewah guys, PA included.

That's fair, SS. I read the same article- and to me it states the obvious- the two largest and 'best' schools in the county receive the most hardship / transfer requests (Ooltewah and East Hamilton). East Hamilton receives the most based on percentage, for what it's worth. If we were bussing in talent, I think both programs would be unstoppable (the assigned zone is already athlete heavy). I know of at least 4 kids that have hardships for academics that do not play sports.

As far as the articles and news reports, I've read so many versions of facts that contradict themselves I can't even see straight anymore. The truth will come out in the wash and I'm glad no one has been fired until the investigation proves it necessary.

  5. Wonder where all the Ooltewah posters are? Haven't heard a squeak from any of them since this happened. The whole sports program there is a big joke. Hate that we lost to them in football. I hate it for everyone involved, but maybe this was the only way things would get out about how things are run there. Still praying for all involved.

I don't have much to say because A) I don't follow basketball closely and B ) I've been waiting on the facts.

This has nothing to do with the football program or any other program at OHS. You don't know how "things are run" anymore than I do. I've heard plenty about athletes at many schools including Oak Ridge misbehaving but have never once judged an entire school for it.

I am sickened by the action and I hope all that are found guilty are punished. Destroying 1600+ students and personally attacking faculty and coaches who have no bearing on this is reckless and deplorable.

SweetScience I've always thought of you as a level headed, insightful poster. I don't recall you having any problems with our football team (minus facilities) when we played.

  6. I read a lot more than I post, but I wanted to throw some comments into the mix:

    1. I'd like to say well done to both sides in the week leading up to the game not attacking the other team's off the field issues. No Owl supporter went after your DE upon suspension or reinstatement and I thought Rhea County fans were very classy / sensitive to our MLB situation.

    2. My hats off to the kids on both sides for their effort. Injuries, suspensions, and a tough opponent could've broken either side. I've never seen high school kids play harder. I don't think either team executed as well as they could have, but they truly left everything on the field.

    3. Last but not least, I admired the class shown by kids and coaches. This is a rivalry and it's no secret that neither side cares much for the other. But I never saw any disrespectful action on the field or in the papers. As a matter of fact, there were more kids helping each other up after hits than I've ever seen. As a father, that meant more to me than the outcome.

    4. This isn't college. Disagree with decisions all we want; It's not right to call for people's teaching jobs over play calling. If they're helping make real men and winning a lot more than losing, no reason to come after their livelihood.

  7. Clinton is clicking at the right time. Great offensive team....Only if they had an defense....Thackerson the QB is a special player. Owl D better be ready. If WV put up that much on them, Clinton is definitely capable of it. Don;t know what to make of the Owls. They seem to be a Jeckyl and Hyde type team. Never know what to expect.

I noticed a couple of important starters out for Ooltewah tonight on defense. I thought it was a fun game to watch between two very motivated teams. I'm sure Clinton will pose an excellent challenge, and I bet the Owls will deliver and then some. Week 10 games are always tricky and Walker Valley had the weapons to make it very interesting. They deserve a lot of credit.

  8. why is that clear? I doubt I have ever said anything against your school, coach or school. Used to be a big follower of your baseball team 8 to ten yrs ago. I happen to pull for Soddy most weeks. I like Soddy and will root for Soddy . You should win, but that does not mean I can't post "Go Soddy"

I apologize if I came off abrasive- it was more curiosity than anything. It has seemed like every thread I've read on Ooltewah for the last couple of years, you've always cheered on the opponent. I know our fan base has created less friends than enemies, so I thought maybe there was a story there.

I don't read a lot of threads, but after checking on your history I can tell I read your comment incorrectly.

  9. Owls will not win state. Their D was good last night but...Honestly Pemberton should have changed his O more. Wing T is good but its not suited the best to pass out of. And with a couple of the Owls D linemen being pretty darn good they stopped the run good enough. This was actually good for the Eagles. It should give them a chance to change some things and make some adjustments. The same can be said for the Owls...their O line needs a bit of tuning. They do just fine but could use just a touch of work.

When two good teams and staffs play, it's bound to get ugly and I loved watching the defenses play chess with each other.

Tis you've been around longer than I have; who do you think is the favorite for the 5A gold ball?

  10. EAGLES HIGH ... EAGLES LOW... WOO!!! LEFT AND RIGHT, DYNAMITE!!!

How about it PA, are y'all ready for this? EAGLES 28-21! Planning a trip to the owls nest for Friday night!!! I don't want to go home SAD. :)

Seemingly equal teams, great coaching, unreal atmosphere, district title implications, etc... I respect the Eagles as an opponent and fan base. I love watching my Owls play against high level opponents. How can you love football and want to be anywhere else Friday night?

  11. I haven't decided if I like PA or not yet (lol) but I don't believe Erwin will be able to move the ball on Dem Owls this week with much success. I think the defense is just as tough as some initially believed it would be. I think The Owls Offense shows up big this week and this will be their best game yet. Owls win this one handily . Just don't tell PA his head might explode.

Haha I'll tactfully take the compliment, Blaze. I think the Owls are right where they need to be at this point in the season. Playing Riverdale and now Erwin early is going to grow up our young / inexperienced guys just in time for district play. I saw a lot of strides made against Signal. Hopefully we are still healthy and hungry!

  12. Playing QB in that offense is very tough....add to it.,. your playing a bunch from middle tn that were pretty good,if you are not ready mentally, physically etc....you will lose games like this.Ooltewah will win a lot of games this year and will learn from this.Im not happy about losing this game by know means, but I do have common sense.,......and a pair of eyes.

Excellent post. I'm just glad we tested ourselves Week 1 to find the holes and strong points of our team. This loss may end up causing more wins than we are used to having when it's all said and done. No need to throw coaches or kids under the bus just yet. Kudos and good luck to Riverdale the rest of the way.
