  1. they will name a coach before spring practice starts I'm sure.......does anybody no who applied can't be a long list it would be monumental task to say the least...but it can be done by the right staff. There has been some names mentioned but not sure who has applied. One name I keep hearing is from there when they in there hay day that is an asst on another team, another is a

former head coach, and one currely on satf.

  2. You all do know LC plays defense too. Maybe because our offense is so good you forget about the defense. Anyway the defense is only allowing 13 pts a game. Yes before you say it Mitchell is bigger, faster, and stronger just thought I would beat you to your line. Seems to be a reacurring theme.

  3. go chiefs thanks for the support. LC is also BIG, FAST, and STRONG. For some reason nobody thinks middle tn kids can be BIG, FAST, and STRONG. Also we have seen kids all year that will be playing on SATURDAY. We also have some kids that will be playing on saturday, i think you will figure out who friday night.

  4. I love how fans that don't know the first thing about their opponent are the ones who talk the most crap. I guess that's what being a fan is about though.

Lets see big and fast, try to get ball to best players in space. Defense runs to ball. Big men clog holes lets faster guys get to the ball. Close?

  5. Lets see Lawrence Co. Picked last in Region end up 2nd.

Lawrence Co. Defense not supposed to stop anybody. Allow 13 pts a game.

Picked to win 2 or 3 games win 8 (in a row) MMMMM>

Why should Friday be any different. :thumb:

13 points may be too many. :geek:

Not if you rush for 300 and score 30 :thumb:

  6. Richland was a powerhouse in the late 80's early 90's but before that they were as bad as it gets even worse than they are now. Mr. Hobbs the 1st principle richland had went and recruited the best high school coach Bud Spickard was his name he turned the program around in 1982 going to the butter bowl, the Rogers came in for a couple of years took them to the Walking horse bowl in 85 and a win. He then left in came Chunn State runner up in 87. Went deep in playoffs every year until 91 he quit then school went south after that and is still going. notice I said school. No one on the school board relizes how much atletics impact school and school surroundings. Maybe they will figure it out in the near future. It was an honer to play at Richland a since of pride and joy you can only get if you were at that school during that time. I hope it can someday be a source of pride for a community. It cannot turn into EAst Dillion if you watch Friday night Lights.

  7. How does Lawrence Co. rate a #1 seed over Colunbia?(Who defeated Lawrence Co.and finished 1st in the district and Lawrence finished 2nd?

Someone grab a tissue!! Would you rather play a 7-3 Craigmont team from Memphis or a 3-7 Cleavland team? Good grief

I believe you know what you can do with your tissue.Winning your district,Getting a 32 seed and having to play in a tougher brackett with Clinton, while the team you beat for the district championship geta a #1 seed and homefield advantage is STUPID.

Does not really matter who plays who or when a roads leads to the gold ball and to be the best you have to beat the best. Columbia may get another shoot at LC

  8. That is easy, The entire offensive line for Lawrence County High School. If you have not seen them then you are missing old school, smash mouth, in your face here we come football. Put 10 in the box doesnt matter we still run the football. Bear Bryant would even by a ticket to come and see these kids work as one. And it all starts with the most underated D1 linemen the mix Big Sweet #72 6-4 295 and just 17 years old. The line averages 280 so need I say more. Avg rushing per game 300. :flower:

  9. I think as long as the community and booster club allows it to go on it will continue to go on. However it should not be a push hire, the school administrater needs to step in and do something. A push hire creates to much pressure. This is going to be a project for who ever is the replacement. It will not happen overninght 2 or 3 years is a resonable time frame for a new coach.

  10. Being from Richland myself, and playing football during the good years, it is hard to believe the program has slipped this far. Richland admistration has had oppertunitys in the past to hire or promote good quality coaches. But they allow them to leave and go to other countys or do not hire them at all. So even if Taylor leaves or resigns, what makes you all think the next coach will be anything but a please all. They do not have the money to hire a well known coach, and doubtfull if any would come and coach, back in the day they went and got bud, then rogers, and chunn. I dont see that happening they need to search the talent pool of former players and find the best coach in the bunch. That is the only way the get success to return to raider land.

Administration has not "allowed" other coaches to leave...The coaches have left on their own due to what they experienced under Taylor, or due to lack of support under then principal McMasters.

The "next" coach should be recruited the same way the coaches at Giles Co. High have been recruited. If money isn't a hurdle to finding a good coach at that school, then it shouldn't be a hurdle at Richland. Both schools are a part of Giles Co. and should be treated the same when it comes to finding a good coach! I don't believe they should look for a "former" player either. You get into too much "politics" when you do that--just as what must be happening in keeping Taylor, and would answer your question as to assuring that he isn't a "please all."

It is not equal and yes they have allowed coaches to leave. Being in a school system myself and being a coach, there are ways to keep good quality coaches and teachers without promoting them. I do agree that since Mcmasters has left it should be better as far as keeping coaches. My understanding was that she was very difficult to work with. With that being said Winning is the only sure way to produce the facilitys that Giles Co. has produced, and as far as money well lets just say Richland does not have the revienew that Giles Co. has. Richland does not have a town that can produce coorprate money that will back the hireing of a out of town high profile coach. Also by hireing a former player who is now a coach you remove the problem of new good coach leaving after 1 or 2 years. A coach from there is more likely to stay and build not build and leave. Taylor was a pitty hire they had to find some where for him to go and Richland was coachless. And Taylor is not from there he is a Giles co. coach and did the same thing there he is doing at Richland.

  11. They already have a good coach and former player with Coach Hickman. He just can't do well because he has to deal with the two Taylors screwing everything up. I respect Coach Hickman because he knew what he was doing and never cussed me or my teammates. That can't be said of Taylor. He and his son constantly call the players dumb-$&^ every chance they get. I wanted to take his head off for calling me that.

Played football with him, good guy, have not seen him coaching. Does not have a lot of experience coaching is this his 2nd or 3rd year at richland. I believe he helped at Ardmore before he came to richland. But then again nobody has experience until someone gives them a chance.

  13. wesley hickman is his name, and his brother corey is an assistant at giles co. both of them were outstanding atheletes.i could be wrong but if i remember correctly corey was invited to try out for the atlanta braves after he graduated high school.look for both of them to be head coaches someday hopefully at richland.i disagree look what scott hannah did do he helped giles co. in 2003 as an assistant to billy holt win the state title something they should have done the next two years.when scott hannah took over the girls team he was just trying to polish a turd.he had no chance.they have named the gym after hardin and mayfield billy holt brought in more money to that gym and more championships appearances than hardin did so where is his respect?

Just because you were an athlete does not make you a great coach. Is Cory even a teacher ( not that it matters anymore). Did Wesley play football? I know both were good baseball players. Anyway Coach Hannah gat the shaft he had to see it coming when they brought in Shelia Frost for his asst. He is a class A guy either way. All of this talk of coaching doesnt matter Taylor will leave when he is ready, it has to be his choice. They dont care if he wins, If they did he would not still be there.

  14. It is a well known fact that most people in Giles County look down upon Richland. They always have. I remember back in the ole' days when Richland was winning everything; Football and Basketball. Giles Countians used to laugh and say they played and practiced in a corn field. The largest problem is that Richland doesn't have a town like Giles County does with Pulaski. For the most part, most of the commissioners and school board are representing Giles County. So, no, they don't care. I remember back in the late 80's and early 90's when you couldn't get a seat at Richland Football and Basketball games. Until 1991, Richland only had one season in which they didn't have a winning season. That was their first. I remember watching the 82 Walking Horse Bowl and thinking they've come a long way in a short amount of time........

The problem is political. Just think back when they got rid of Smith the first time at G.C. Of course, when you fight parents of athletes out side of the school, that doesn't help.

Richland doesn't have the top caliber athletes. For years G.C. players would transfer to Richland, start and lead them to winning seasons. For local kids who come through who are originally zoned to Richland, if they go on and coach, they are usually busts. Look at the Hannah boy.

Iron man is close but not quit rite, there has been some players since the "heyday" alround 1991 is when the "heyday" ended and since then there has been some talent but poor coaching and poor coaching choices have hurt the program. RICHLAND can win but it will take some drastic changes. Not all the richland products are coaching bust some just move next door and start coaching there.
