Worst thing SD could do it hire Partin. Guy is a disaster, he will run off any respectable people affiliated with that program. Everyone in Knox County is pulling for Partin to get it.

I knew Russ when we was a Farragut and seemed to do a good job calling plays. His personality seemed a little abrasive, so not sure how well he would be received in the community or as the head coach by players, but that has been a few years since we was here, so maybe he has changed.

Anyone know a timeline on this hire?

I'm just a alum who played there a few decades ago (manual was in place prior my arrival). Personally, I have no patience for coaching or parents it is just easier to sit here and talk shop and Monday QB with the real minds. Being married to a teacher myself only solidifies my stance on having no patience for kids everyday. But I do think JJ gets a bad rap here by many who choose to not acknowledge he didn't invent this environment, he just adapted to it. I wish JJ the best but his success or how he does at Bearden has no impact on me.

Very well said. Adapt or die and he’s adapted while others have died. Prime example is the Fulton program, high school all the way down. Josh seems to have been the one who was able to get the players there. Their high program and youth program has dropped like an anchor since his departure.

KCS has approved the hire of a bookie to run one of the largest programs in the area. Wow. I have truly seen it all!

You are such a loser, really shows your ignorance to spewing such garbage on here. Unfortunately some people will take what you’re saying and run with it because it fits their agenda. Josh is no bookie, but what do you care. You should be ashamed of yourself.

They were barely two years removed from Rusty Bradley, so that was definitely a factor. I don't know exactly what Mozingo did to fix things, but they've obviously improved a ton since 2017 and 2018.

Mozingo had a pretty good team in 2016 (his first year after Rusty left), primarily because of their offense; that team gave up a lot of points, but they were able to outscore everyone not named Alcoa (and Elizabethton). They took a major step back the following year, and it was largely because the offense wasn't any good. They definitely had some roster turnover, but there's no question that JJ was a big part of that collapse. From what I remember, other than the two wins they had (against two bad teams), I don't remember any of their losses being very competitive. Every single loss was by at least 3 scores.

What about the last few seasons at Powell(I’m guessing he went there after 2018)? It seems like he has had pretty good success there, they’ve been an offensive powerhouse.

Kids won’t have a head coach in the building holding them accountable for their actions.

Kids who have already been working hard will see kids recruited in that play over them.

Kids will hold the bag when wins get vacated when a ineligible player inevitably plays.

Kids won’t have that role model of a college graduate leading their program. - which is important even at a school like Bearden.

Notice how all of these are focused on kids. Something the principal and athletic director seem to have forgotten in the last eight weeks.

Sounds like you applied for the job and didn’t get it. You seem to have intimate knowledge about this guy and what is role is going to be, so you must be on the inside when an announcement hasn’t been made yet.

Why does a coach have to be in the building to hold a kid accountable? One would think that would be done by punishment after school at practice or workouts.

Everyone keeps talking about how Bearden doesn’t accept transfers, but now it’s gonna be like a college program where whoever wants to come can come and you will be recruited over.  If you  really think that, it shows how our is touch you, or perhaps how bitter you are. So are you saying that every kid that started for Bearden the last few years is zoned for Bearden? I know for a fact that is not true

The guy hasn’t been announced as the head coach and you are already taking about vacated wins, gees dude. Also, when is the last time TSSAA has made a football team vacate wins?

I have no clue if he went to college or not, but it seems like you are saying someone that didn’t go to college isn’t worthy of being a role model. That’s a really pathetic statement by you.

You are slinging a lot of crap with your post. Really sad if you ask me. Seems like this is someone would act if they didn’t get the job.

*care less. Private schools could care less as long as you produce, careless would be the Bearden administration is careless when it comes to the potential negative impact this will have on the kids in their school.

Please elaborate on these negative impacts?

This sets a dangerous precedent for the hiring of head football coaches in KCS. Basically they are saying that your level of education, background in the field of education and experience working with kids is irrelevant. This guy could quit in May and leave this team high and dry for an opportunity to coach rec league again. My boy would not play in a program like that. Sad day for KCS athletics.

    Did I miss an announcement?

Also, seem like you’re calling the guy uneducated and saying his years of coaching youth kids and the last few years coaching at the high school level do not count as him “working with kids.”

Some of you people are pretty pathetic.

FWIW. I have heard that they want to hire JJ, but are facing backlash from community as well as HR downtown. .   I have also heard that if they can't hire him, they will fall back to a guy that used to coach at Bearden and left prior to last season.

Sounds like the Milan guy who left for Maryville College.

I’m from the old school so a degenerate gambler is a degenerate gambler.

So he’s a bookie AND a degenerate gambler?

Next he’ll be a sexual predator like the assistant coach at Heritage.

Lots of accusations be thrown around about a guy that hasn’t been named a head coach, unless I’ve missed something.

  10. Woah! If the last couple posts are true, kind of a shock hire. The guy I’ve been in contact with just said the other day that interviews were done and they were internally deliberately with the intention to name a coach by Friday. Sounds like they have met that deadline.

Not familiar with your background in the area but the OR I am talking about is Oak Ridge. You don't cancel on Oak Ridge, my friend. It's one of the best coaching jobs in the state and a much better position than perennial underachiever, Bearden.

Lol ok, 3-8, talk about underachieving.

If that is indeed the correct timeline then I doubt the hire will be Rusty Bradley because the info I have been told is he plans to interview with OR later in the week.

I’m sure he could always cancel the interview. I heard Scott Cummings was going to OR with Rang as his DC.

Guess so. I know two interviewed yesterday. 2 more were supposed to go today, but I think one was unavailable. And there are two that go tomorrow. New coach still revealed by Friday.

I heard the same timeline, just that there were three. Guess we will see who they pick on Friday.

Interesting I wonder why the word was that Jones was interviewing but he's in Nashville today

I think the Mr. Football Awards are today and I think the Nolan kid is a finalist, so maybe he is over there for that, not sure though.
