I would like to see a Hamilton vs C.P.A match up to well coached teams
-
usually with tournaments like these the sponsors pay for airfare and hotelsHow do they afford to travel to Hawaii?
-
Yes they
are pretty much unbeatable when they throw the ball inside
-
White Station won the championship game of the iolani classic 65-44 over Westchester Leron Black had 22 points and was M.O.P Chris Choizza won M.V.P Davell Roby made the all tournament team

the schools out west that can beat probly are Humbodlt Union City And MitchellHey Big, how are the UC boys looking this year? Will they make it back to the big dance? What teams over that way will have a chance to beat this 2A private school (Goodpasture) this year? I hope ya'll have someone over there that can win one for the public schools!
-
Thanks Bartlett grad I was wondering my self
-

maybe we can hook up at the game than I've seen Mitchell but have not seen Humboldt yet but I want to see them Bradford kid play Mitchell kills their self most nights with turnovers and like someone said in another topic their best players don't always show up khalil gone get his every night but the other guys gone have to help outCon,i havent seen Mitchell play this year.I watched Mitchell the last 2 years at the State Tournament. They are now 1A and with the regionals being played at Mitchell,I see no one beating them there,so they will host Substate and I dont think UC,South Fulton or Humboldt will go in there and win.If Mitchell loses in the regional championship, they maybe in trouble going to UC,SF,or Humboldt.I name those 3 teams because I think 2 of those 3 will be playing in the substate.Humboldt will have 3 guys,Turner, Bradford, who I think is the best player in Single A,and Brown that scores double figures.Brown gets all his points on stickbacks,so you better put a body on him and the other 2 starters becauae they go get offensive rebounds. They play 2 off the bench,so no bench depth.Key to beating Humboldt is to keep them off the glass, make Turner a driver, stand in there and take a charge on Bradford because he going to the rack, and make the other players shoot the ball 10 feet and out.I say that because Brown,MClilly,Montague, and number 31 scores only on layups from stickbacks, or passes from teammates. Humboldt is a solid team but they will go through lapses in the game were they will start playing crazy and getting away from what they did to get a big lead.UC will play them January 3.I am going to try and catch Mitchell because my brother lives in Memphis and I probably know a couple people you may know.

if was for the greater good of kid it was worth it more coaches need care about the kid instead of how they can help their teamWe miss him badly. Our turnovers are strange. We over pass way too much. J.Martin must become more selfish and shoot more. Shipp is coming along now and should help more. Missing last season was uge but he had to get his act together. Coach not allowing him to play has saved is future. He is sooooo hungry now.

let me guess the certain team you ate talking bout is CPAI'm sorry warhawk I didn't know you had to be an experienced coach T poster in order to post something valid. Yes I am new to this message board but not new to this Topic. I know there is some truth to this rumor. He plays on a AAU team in Nashville and has close ties/family in Nashville.
Just wondering if anyone else closer to him may know what team he is considering if he makes the move! I'd just hate if a certain team got him
-
chipper in your honest opinion who is better Humboldt or Mitchell56-43 Humboldt end of 3.LC cut the lead to 2 points but Humboldt extended it back to double figures.
-
they really miss him this seasonThanks,I thought he was still in high school.
-
yes they are but they are much deeper this season then were last year I hope its nothing major with LeronI know Leron was hurt a lot last year. They are going to need him healthy to get out of Memphis.
-
you'll talking bout Gavin Robinson he is at Northwest Mississippi CCWhere is the kid thats last or first name is Gavin?
-
I don't I'm going to try to find out but Ladarius has filled in well for himWhats wrong with Leron?
-
why is Naba struggling with turnovers so badI was not there but coach said we shot poorly. This is a tough tournament and we have very little size. Most teams out of our leauge are much bigger. Our guards must take better care of the ball. Also we are a man to man team and being small hinders. Despite our record we shold be ok in 1A.
-
they will be good in 1-A they might be 4th behind Mitchell BTW and MAHSI saw Carver in the Jamboree only. I hope they are good, that makes Memphis 1A better.
-
I looked on the King of the Bluegrass tournament website they shot 16 of 44 and turned the ball over 14 times khalil led the way with 17Gaililee,can you give us a rundown of the Mitchell game today at the King of the Bluegrass.I see where they lost their first game.Where you guys plagued by turnovers or just missed shots? King of the Bluegrass is a big tournament and I was hoping you guys put up a good performance.

White Station beat MT Vernon NY 56-51 Another big third quarter put them up after trailing at the half Ladarius Coleman had 17 points to led the way Chris Chiozza and Nych Smith had 10 a piece and Davell Roby add 9 Leron is still out they play West Linn OR. tomorrow at 6:30How did that White Station do today?
-
have u seen the 2 from Carver play they are very good guards Mr. Basketball Candidates I'm not saying that but they are two of the better Guards in Class AIt only 6 or 7 1A non charter schools in Memphis. From the above list I see Franklin, Spencer, and Martin being Mr. Basketball canidates.
-
that is true what I'm saying is that just because you have that talent does not mean you will win state I've seen many teams stocked with talent lose to a lesser team why because the coach did not know how to coach that team on teams with a lot of talent you Can have things like ego and envy I remember the White Station from the early 2000s that played 13 players every night you don't think some of those kids did not think they could go somewhere else and be the man but coach Tippett(sp) got them to buy in to the program that's what Drew has done at CPAI think alot of people who played sports don't understand that you can be the best coach in the world but if you don't have the talent... you aren't gonna win State
-
I was naming the best In MemphisWell, Mitchell has four (4) kids that are the best players in 1A, if that's so they should win 1A?
-
I can tell u about Memphis.Who do you guys feel is the best player/players in 1A
Khalil Spencer Mitchell
Naba Echols Mitchell
Jerimah Martin Mitchell
Jamarcus Franklin BTW
Terrance Vaughn Carver
Pechone Jackson Carver
Chris Davis Hillcrest
Antoine Garrett Mitchell

I think a lot of people who never played sports don't understand that u can have the talent in the world but if u don't have someone who can coach it and get players to buy into roles you will not win case in point look at Kentucky this year CPA is the third best team I've seen this year behind Hamilton and White StationI was pretty amazed at the original thread actually. It took Mephiis fans to recognize Coach Maddux as a great coach. I appreciate them for saying that.
It Seems like most CPA and Maddux detractors try to claim they win on talent alone. Most people have never seen how hard they practice or grasp how hard some of the sets they run and execute with precision are to run.
Not to mention how hard it is to get that many talented to players to play unselfishly.
Personally, I don't think Coach Maddux gets enough credit. That's why I liked the thread that got deleted.
Whitestation wins first game in Hawaii without Leron Black
