A few years ago Ridgeview Elementary (feeder school to Boone) had an 8th grade team that went 10-0 and won by an average of 40 points.    By the time they were in high school only 2 boys from that team played football.     I remember going to a Greeneville game a couple of years ago, there were some 8/9 year old kids tossing a football around, they were all dressed in Green and I asked if they wanted to play in high school, without exception they all said "Yes!".    Lot of excitement from those young kids just dreaming of being out there in a few years.     If you could instill that kind of passion in young kids then the high school team would be unstoppable.

Yep … I remember going to games back when I was a Kid at DB … throwing ball around was what you did and most wore their middle school jerseys ! Going to Boys Club on Sat and Sundays ( packed and games every hour or so ) and playing league football was a blast ! But DB don’t allow kids to run around like that anymore !

      Off the subject

Heck have you been to the Lynn Garden Pals ? There’s two Beefs in there working ! I asked the one and he said “yeah , I go to DB , I play in the band “ nothing wrong with the Band , but this Boy is a Beast ….He said he has been approached several times , each year , by coaches , bugging him to play  ! I want to say 6”5 280-300 - and that’s a lot of muscle !  One of the guys in there said he is strong as an oxe !

  2. DB is going to be down for the next few years ... I'd say 6-4  (7-3 if lucky)

DB does have some beefs but they don't have the athletes like the years past and DB doesn't really even have a QB ( I did hear of a transfer from VA that possibly is coming  ... Anyone heard about this ? )

  3. Yeah , that stadium is not going to go over well when the play DB ..Even when they don't  , there will be larger # of crowds to show support and crowds to also check the new look and high school out !!

Watching money is understandable , but do it right the first time ... Money is going to be saved overtime .... I just hope they didn't go with the "pre Fab press box " - holds 12 people ... Hope they are smart enough to laugh that out of the way !

Dobyns Bennett was a great Offensive Team.  Oline was very impressive.  Quarterback is really good.  Running Backs ran hard. Very impressed with them. How in the world did they lose to Science Hill?

Maryville was impressive on offense.  Noah Vaughn is a weapon.  Carson Jones played great.. Offensive Line blocking well. Great team win.

DB just did not play that game , overlooked them I guess ! DB should have whipped them , but again Stacy Carter finds ways and if he ends up coaching West Ridge , it will end up being a hated rivalry lol

31 seniors. I think we lose all but 3 starters on both sides of the ball.

Yep ... I mean it's a reload ! I don't know what JV and Freshman have looked like , does anyone have insight on what they looked like ?

I mean with westridge playing DB and DB reloading , it could be a crazy scene if the Wolves beat ole DB their first year .... I just hope we don't hand SHill the conference next year because we are reloading !

Ive never seen Nick Saban loose his temper, have you? I think DB will gain some players from the West Ridge deal.

I did see that on Nov 2nd the State refused 5a and put them in 6a because of #s expected .... I couldn't imagine the job a coach will have to try to put a team together this quick at West ridge ..... Speaking of Coach , any news on who that might be ?

  7. Kids hear worse at school , home and practice !!

Il take Coach Christian over Coach Clark any day ..... Excitement vs Boring , Yeah il take Christian !!  Some of the best coaches loose their tempers ( Christian is not the best , but he is in the right direction )

I don't know what DB will look like next year .. I mean 30 seniors is alot to loose  . They have some great young kids coming up , but that's a few years away , I just Hope they stay at DB and stay away from West ridge .... I just hope DB is good enough next year to beat their new Rival High School (The Wolves of West ridge )

It starts when they are 11 and 12 years old. The coaches at DB aren’t lacking of knowledge or not capable teachers IMO. The kids are just so far behind when they get there it makes it difficult to have any success.

Agreed ... That's changing in Kingsport because DB Alums and Fans have created leagues on their own and working to keep these going ... I mean Baseball and Basketball should be unbelievable year in year out in Kingsport  like it was in early 90s ... I do believe Baseball is back and Ryan is doing a great job ....

Overall a great job tonight by the team. Coaches and players. This was the first time I've seen DB play like they belonged on the same field with Maryville. I don't think anybody gave them a tougher game all year. They just put 28 points on the best defense in the state. I know everybody gets tired of me bringing up the secondary but with even a average secondary we win this game going away. It's not the players fault. I'll say it again, It's not the players fault. Next year DB "might" be a little down but I think coach Christian has the program going in the right direction. Thing to do is build on this performance tonight. I would make building the secondary the #1 job going forward. I was proud of the boys from Kingsport tonight and good luck to the little fellers against their next opponant. Bring back that Gold Ball if you have any room for another one.

Well they say Robinson's team was amazing and fun to watch this year ... That QB at Robinson is a big boy and has amazing talent and is going to do great things in a few years ..

But it also takes Sevier being great too to compete in High School

went to a card reader today. She asked me if I wanted her to prognosticat on some upcoming event.  Yeah, the DB v Maryville game.  Here's what she said.

DB wins the toss, receives, and gets a TD in 4 plays. Everybody's stunned. Maryville lays 42 on DB by half time. 42-7.

2nd half has little action. Intentional stalemate with Maryville controlling play. Maryville puts 2nd string in 4th qtr and scores again. DB scores as well.  Final 49 -13.

    Sounded about right to me.

    I wouldn't go back !

  11. If DB keeps the mistakes in Kingsport , the Defensive backs plays lights out and DBs O line blocks like they have (in most games - for their Running back ) - DB could keep it real close , to the point it comes down to the last few of the 4th

DB has the players/ athletes to compete with anyone and The coaches Better be on their A Game !

    If I understand correctly:

    1) a player carrying the virus was tested on Tuesday

    2) he was away from the other players on Wed/Thursday

    3) he took a rapid test Thursday or Friday which supposedly was negative so he went to the game Friday night with his parents

    4)  the Tues test came back positive on the way to Kingsport

    5) McMinn coaches/admin did no contact tracing as the kid was home wed/thurs

So...the question appears to be if other students/players he contacted on Mon/Tues should have been quarantined? That seems like an easy question to answer except for the fact the guidance to follow has too many loopholes and used differently by different systems.
To complicate things, I think the original CDC guidance has shifted as the spread has gotten worse which explains these recent college game impacts. I think the mackmen coaches did what most other coaches have done all year and has allowed the season to be played.
But they got called out by a public health agency for not being as protective “as they should”. Tough position for t$$aa, but an easy call IMO.

    Basically !

McMinn coach confirmed Saturday that he got a message about a positive player on the way to Kingsport . Thought it would be alright "player was not with team " , but did not do any contact tracing !  This was basically what he was quoted saying Saturday !

So basically entering DB stadium he knew of a +test , but no contact tracing was done .....  Wrong on so many levels !

  13. So the players dad had negative test results at game , the player ate at Shoneys pre- game , yet the player tested positive Wed and practiced / or was around  the team prior ..... no matter what , is regulations set that anyone should be in Quarantine if a positive test is the outcome ? I'm not saying all the above is true , that just from several sources

I'd just say we both forfeit and McMinn and DB play next weekend !
