  1. Well DBs coach didn't seem confident on the radio lol ... "hey it's a out of conference game , we know we still have the playoffs " "A lot of injured  guys (6 ) ... we also have two starters out from SH game " ....

    I'd say ....Alcoa 42- DB 17

So everytime they got the ball they just kicked a FG??Sounds to me like the line,QB,RBs and Coaches had a little to do with the win also...UNLESS that kicker set multiple state records for long FGs.

    Haha ... nah he did boot a 48 , 50 and 28 .

Db completely stopped the run but gave up some costly penalties to put them in position to kick 2 of those ...

Morristown West was the first to figure out how to beat the DB pass rush. They just didn't quite have the offensive line to pull it off for more than a half. Science Hill's line was a little better so they completed 20 quick passes and that's what beat DB. The defensive ends were not much of a factor against the Science Hill QB. Alcoa's offensive line is a whole lot better than Science Hill's line. The coaching staff at Alcoa is a whole lot better than Science Hill's also. I'm sure they would of figured this out on their own anyway.

Agreed somewhat ... But what beat DB was penalties (especially costly on last drive ) and a Kicker .... DB made the stops when they needed but the kicker absolutely did his job for SH with the few long field goals !!

Anyone knows #2 injury status for DB .. went out in first half against SH

  4. DB is just hampered with to many injuries to starters right now ... Two left in the first half against SH , one deference maker with a knee injury . I think the backups (consisting of sophs and juniors) are trying to make a name for themselves and causing costly penalties , SH game was obvious... heck if it wasn't for the costly ones and a great field goal kicker(dang he was good ) , then believe the outcome would have been different...

Health is an issue that's causing others to try to hard ......

If DB gets some starters back it should be a closer game but great teams like Alcoa will make you pay for penalties at crucial times ....DB is just to young "right now " - injury heavy to WIN this game ....

    Alcoa by 17

Not looking so STUPID today am I?  Tough schedule paid off last night for the Toppers. I knew if we didn't turn the ball over we could beat DB. Athlete for Athlete they cant match up!!!!!

We still have to take care of business next week with a very dangerous Bearden team.

Region 1 & 2 playoff teams are very equal except Maryville. I have enjoyed all the humor this week with all the DB fans believing they could play with Maryville. What a Joke.

Your guys kicker is something else ......great game !!

DB is having to resort to a lot of sophs and backup juniors due to injuries .... In the first half against SH we lost one of our best players to knee and another starter (think that makes 6 starters out right now ?! ) ...

I think I said at one time that if DB could stay healthy and get some starters back , then DB could fight anyone , including Maryville !! I do believe 8 of the penalties that I heard on the radio was due to backups and two that had to come in second half that replaced the injured players from the 1st half ...

If DB can get their starters back they can get to Maryville .... If they happened to play SH again , I think DB would give um a Whopping  !

Greeneville does not want that Series. Devils are a solid program and very good program. But, are not close to the same Caliber of Athletes as Oakland "Year in and Out". Last year Greeneville team had a chance to make it respectable for sure, but consistently it would be hard for Greeneville. Keep beating SH and DB then travel down to Maryvillle to play the Mighty Red Rebels after that to head on down to Bradley for a good High Scoring game series with tons of points.

Then you make your way to Oakland after you have mastered the big boys in the East ... Key word Consistently.

DB is having a great year for second year coach. This is how DB should be viewed year in and out. However, Region 1 6A is really down this year. Also, we will get a better understanding of them when they travel down to Alcoa in the final week. That being said. Best of luck to the Indians because if they make it pass BC it will be 35-0 at half-time when they play Maryville.  Great Season for 2nd year coach, but DB will finish 11-2. Now like I said in other post. I hope I am wrong. But, a spade is a spade.

DB will surprise you no matter who they play .. If DB stays healthy and gets some players back , then DB will play Maryville very closely  - Deffrence between now and past DB , they play 4 qtrs and get better as the game goes on - no matter who they have played , DB has litterly stopped the run and are stepping up and shutting down passes as the season comes along - Just wait !!!!

Not saying they will win but they will shock and will fight hard with anyone they play ! They are Young , small , a big heart and a Killer instinct to WIN

  7. DB has the kids to beat up on many teams and hang with many ... They obviously have the depth because several sophs are stepping up during the injuries of 5 starters ... The injuries are a concern but even with , they are still easily handling teams and stopping the run and playing great D .

With DB having many starters as Juniors and from what I have heard winning championships (together when they were youth " - trying to find this info ) they have the talent and heart to WIN .. The coaching staff is off the chain this year because of all the  hires they made in the off season (one of the best Corridnators / coach out of VA , couple of great past DB/ college players and a great AD to go along with them ... I see them possibly beating or playing a very close game with Alcoa and then getting into 3rd round were they will fight Maryville ... Next year could be a fantastic year for DB and I think DB is building (one of the best)  Coaching Staffs in TN currently !

  8. Going forward and if these coaches stay together , I just can't imagine them not winning a ring and bringing the Gold to Kingsport someday soon !

I mean it seems like everyone I talk to at games are in awe at the staff  and the heart of the players ... It's "one " of the smallest teams at DB that I have seen but their heart , dedication , skills , belief , speed ..... "I really could just keep going on and on ", but  this team is fun to watch execute and the QB is playing amazing !

Just last year I /we bashed and before this season started , i really was not excited ... During that TN High game I seen a lot of change from last year , change that normally takes a few years to produce a great team but these players have bought in and believed in these coaches .........

I guess hiring 2 previous DB / D1 players to coach where it's been needed the most , to hire one of the best Coaches/ Asst. coach out of Virginia will change things quickly  ... I mean play calling  to making adjustments are on point !

I seen Foreman and Swafford at the game tonight ... Great to see those to still at the hip !

Would not say that as I thought they moved the ball pretty well. The problem was they couldn't hang on to it.  Can't say they win without the turnovers, but it would have been a much closer game.

DB fumbled 4 times , 2 of witch they lost ! Just heard DB had 3 players out on O line - they went far down the bench to get some players starting ! ... with that said it all comes down to Hayworth and what he has done with these lineman - they believe and no matter the size they can play !

  10. I know one of our top players is out for a couple weeks .. I over heard the trainers/ doctors talking a Boone ... He said depending on how fast he heals , looks to be several weeks (stinger I think ) - haven't heard any updates , has anyone heard anything on this ?

As as to that 2012 team .. I think if our QB didn't get hurt in the S County game then we would have beat Maryville . After the game the  Maryville Coach said the same thing .. he thought it would have been tough to stop Foreman and Swafford (one two punch ) if they were both free in that game and able to play their normal positions .

  11. Boone obviously has a great line but lack in other places ... They seem to play great the first half and played toe to toe with The Cyclones in the first half . DB had one of the worst nights of the year so far but still Won .

Everyteam has a night off , just like Maryville did tonight but DB needs to improve every game from here in out or the last game will be "Faded Hopes " !
