Memphis Mitchell versus MTCS
THEvolunteerstatehoopsGUY replied to Btw1993's topic in Boys Basketball
As far as athletics they just couldn't get kids to come. The Mr. Basketball 2AA Bo Hodges actually attended there before Station Camp. They were going to play 1A then but his father tried some things that weren't approved. Something with his age I believe. I know the kid should have graduated in 2015 originally. That's what put athletics on hold. It's a pretty great school academically -

There athletes enrolled @ KIPP Nashville aren't that good. They have just started to push kids and go after players that will help them in the 1A class this year which will be there first. They have played in rec leagues before due to lack of talent. -

You are correct in that statement. There is also more than 1 KIPP Academy. It's an initiative that TN Public schools has started to have more charter schools in the state. The have a MS and HS in Nashville. 1st year for the HS and the MS has been in Nashville for about 9 years. -

Anyone that's been recruited knows you are told you will play. The difference in JUCO is scholarships are year to year. This will be that coach's first recruited team. You don't get top players in the state telling them they will sit on the bench. -
They should get Jay McInnis from MLK (Nashville). Guy knows how to build a profram. MLK went from 5 wins in 5 years. To 135-24 in 5 years. I'm a fan of good coaches that really want to help kids. He's phenomenal

Barford will start as the off ball guard. That team will play a 4 guard set. They will have to. Barford didn't sign to sit. He and T both were offered big roles. Considering the favt that they both were offered by the top 15 JUCOs in the country. While Barford had the bigger coaches looking at him in HS Holt was the better overall player. They both will blowout. Especially during these JUCO events this July. -

Barford will be a in-state JC signee. He and the kid from East are teaming up with the #1 PG in JC and making a run at Hooch. -

Jennings and Oliver will go to college for football. They are solid basketball players. Kid at Smyrna is tall still developing on offensive end. Williams and Hertel both put up numbers It's a lot of talent in the state right now. The most in a long time. -

Totally Agree with you. Hendley is the only player i haven't seen on the travel circuit. I've saw Terry Holt put up 32 vs Team Final in Orlando. I actually watched him score 27 against Leron Black their freshman year in Memphis. Bonds is better in travel ball than at CPA. Blackwell's size and skill is remarkable and puts up numbers on all levels. Hollander already has an offer from Belmont. Barford isn't mentioned on 247 but is on ESPN. Duke has a offer from Kennesaw St. I could on but you get my point. The recruiting companies miss some and usually cater to the coaches who are in their ears about their players. Nothing against that. -

These recruiting services only show some of the talent. While they try it's impossible to know every good player. Tennessee as I was told by a college coach, has more unknown talent right than other area. For the simple fact that Memphis is the only city with publicity. This Coach was from Memphis also. -

Bruce Cusick is 6'8 kid in east Tennesse. There is a kid at Karns can't think of his name but he is a scoring machine as well. -

Ryan Jones 5'10 ( Siegal ) Cory Henley 6'0 ( Cannon County ) Braxton Bonds 6'1 ( CPA ) Terry Holt 6'3 ( East Nashville ) Daniel Noel 6'2 ( Kenwood ) Jaylen Barford 6'4 ( Jackson Southside ) Jalen Duke 6'4 ( MLK ) Braxton Blackwell 6'7 ( CPA ) Leron Black 6'7 ( White Station ) K.J. Lawson 6'8 (Hamilton ) Rob Marberry 6'8 ( FRA) Jermario Rivers 6'8 (Kenwood) Caleb Hollander 6'8 ( Nashville Central Christian ) This team isn't filled with a lot of kids who get the most pub. I'm a basketball junkie who coaches defense. There are a lot of kids people hear other than these boys but I think this team would dominate. JUST AN OPINION. I have long multi position kids. It would be a zone nightmare. Henley averages 4 threes a game and plays defense. Holt scores in bunches rebounds out of the guard position. Blackwell and Rivers are Penny Hardaway framed PGs. Black and Marberry rebound and swat shots. Lawson, Hollander and Norl just flat play ball. Jones and Bonds bring it on defense and see the floor. Duke is silky smooth with a 6'8 wingspan. Barford brings that attitude and can get to the rim against anyone.
