  1. "Coach Brothers responded, We don't see the same level of football in middle Tennessee that we saw tonight."

This is what gets him beat every year by the eventual state champ.  He is not forced to put his best and toughest 11 on the field and run an efficient offense.

+1 about making them beat your best.

UC is definitely the best team in 1A and probably 2A. With that said, we didn't make them defend much of anything last week.

The defensive effort may not have looked like much but it was as good as UC had seen all year. UC's starters went the whole way. They ran 65 plays. 2 of the scoring drives started at the NCS 15.

The only box score I could find that showed total plays was a game against Lake County. They scored 60 on less than 30 plays. Any team thats defense had to stay on the field for 65 plays and 34 or so minutes would have given up 70 points. The defense got the benefit of 0 turnovers and no meaningful penalties.

Big games require best on best. I hope we give ourselves a better chance in future big games.

  2. Mostly what you hear these days are you have to be balanced, I say bull crap ! Condition the team to pound and be physical the whole game, the balanced attack creates a more passive approach to physical play,, I see it all the time ( kids look like there're pass blocking on run plays lol ) really ! No explosion off the ball, kids are not taught to maul that guy in front of ya anymore, well with the exception of a few teams,,, but the passive approach could possibly be due in part to today's society as a whole,,,I am in agreement tho when it come to an exceptionally special group with outstanding skill players that yes pass it some,,, but in the end a physically conditioned team will more than likely win the game, that's for all levels of FB,,,,,, condition your team to be physical and most likely you will win more FB games,,,, I'm a fan of UC's style, line em up and let's go at it for 4qtrs

Add in deception and its hard to beat. Henry got his yards this year but when they needed to tuck it in the end zone, it was QB with the ball. Same as last year, when Henry didn't pile up the yards. The QB got the yards and the scores.

  3. I respect how good your union city them is they are great but still beatable that's my point I did not mean to come off as insulting to union city fans I just get tired of hearing it's already over before it gets started cause coalfield hasn't seen anything like them. We'll I've seen way better teams that got beat by teams not as good as they were it can happen. Now coalfield may get stomped but that will be determined Friday not today cause union city is just that great.

    Not beatable in 1A.

  4. Somebody posted that if Stewart is really a 4 star prospect that none of uc lineman should get around him any all game. That statement is absurd. I don't care at any position at any level no matter how good the player they will get beat or make a mistake. With that said he should when most of his one on one battles in this game, but he won't win every single one. Also I don't understand the personal rips on Stewart he is a good kid and I think he will excel at UT. I think that more than likely also that Jernigan is a great player who probably doesn't get the college looks he deserves it happens all the time, but that should not take away from what Stewart has don.

He's being recruited. Theirs your answer. Anyone getting attention outside of the UC realm gets ripped. Also, Stewarts results will be met with he got whipped regardless of what really occurs. Because if UC wins, everyone got whipped. There will be a few that give due credit, but most will just hate on him, as they are doing now. Congratulations to Coalfield for sending a young man to UT. I wish him the very best. I wish the prospects for the game were better but again, there's only one getting gold and one getting silver. It's great to be either one.

And yes, the fact that Stewart should never let anyone by is an idiots way to later say I told you so. UC is a great team with some great fans and some, not so much.

  5. Im not saying he's not good. Im just saying he's not worth the 4 stars. If he is he should not let any of our defensive linemen by him once. I dont knowif that will happen cause with our ququickness off the ball and he dont fire off the ball it will be a long day. The same thing happened with Givens. If im wrong I will admit it; which the vols side of me hopes I am.

    Have you seen the game.

  6. Concerning 2014. Can anyone explain why 12 and 35 touched the ball a total of five times?Three of which were on the first drive and accounted for three positive carries for 14 yards. I just do not understand. How do you compete, much less win, without using your best weapons. What am I missing here? Those two didn't get stopped, they never had a chance to start. 1/2 the carries were from the QB either running or getting sacked. Someone help me out.

  7. There have been countless debates on the subject and they are every where on this 1A board. I am not explaining it all again. If you want a better answer go through these pages or look for your answer elsewhere. I will only say this. There are 3 schools in Obion County- Union City 1A, South Fulton 1A and Obion County Central who is moving up to 5A next season. It is open zoning in our county and the parents choose where their kids go to school. I don't know why so many kids from the city limits get on a bus every day and go to OCC. IT could be because UC is a Magnet School and the curriculum is harder or for any one of a thousand reasons. If you want to know more then go find it.

That move to 5a will be tough for OCC considering the teams you beat by 40 are beating them by 30.

  8. I feel like like everyone just thinks that this is the best team that coalfield has seen and should just give up now cause they can not win. The truth is they played catholic who only lost to Alcoa and Fulton. They played Norte dame who lost to catholic and Alcoa. They lost to a good Oneida team. They lost to a greenback team that they beat in the playoffs. Now they have lost four games, but two of those teams would throttle any 1a team even union city. I think they grown and learned from those losses prove beating greenback. Also they prove all the doubters wrong every week. Now to be honest I think union city has the talent and coaching to beat coalfield, but I don't think it happens. Now on paper union city wins hands down, but coalfield seems to be that team when they seem to have no shot and are out talented they find a way. This Friday they find a way and shock the union city faithful if for no better reason than that union city fans seem to think there already champions of this year before the games played.

It would be different if they had your normal 1A players. Most every top notch player in a town of 10,000 is there. They are coached to near perfection. And lastly, their offense is incredibly tough to prepare for. You will never know who has the ball, and even when you do, it won't matter. They'll just fall forward for three yards and do it again. There are no big defensive plays unless they put it on the ground. God bless you and your faith in your team, but unless you have a 5A or 6A defensive line, you won't stop them. They never go backwards and they never really punt. Next year, maybe. But this year, it ain't happening.

  9. You won't be able to tell they lost anybody, with all the success they got going there will be three good players transfer in to every one they lose!

Just curious, who are the last three transfers NCS got to come their way. It seems it happens once a month??? and the names would be easy to come up with. Who are they?

  10. My comment on the " possible D1 Players" from NCS ( No Can't Score ) , they were all on the NCS team last year weren't they that we TOTALLY DOMINATED and controlled also. Size looks good on the field and paper but what is on the inside is what matters. Union City gave your "Possible D1 Players" just a very small taste on how getting hit and playing against kids their own size and better can show....WEAKNESS. Union City in no means a D1 or any college team but just shows...kids like you have talent wise are just a dime in a dozen. Private schools try and stack teams for championships and it hardly ever works. I will take a total "TEAM" effort over any T(I)am effort. You just ran across a team that shows how to play football...run, run and more running. NO ONE can stop the "Fear The Veer". Next !

You're a true front runner. Just checked out your basketball posts. First loss...the excuses flow...next win...we're the greatest. I'm sure you mean well but man you have no tact.

  11. I'll throw in my 2 cents worth and give credit where credit is due, both of those guys have potential to become a contributing factor ( in time ) to where ever they choose to go, IMO both are legit D1 recruits, so the result of the game didn't rely entirely on 2 guys,,,now to the game,,,I felt like NC played as hard as they could up front but was won by UC's front and excellent reaction speed and attack from UC's lb's and DB's.. Things closed up real quickly for NC in the run game, I thought NC dropped a cpl catchable balls for big gainers but it wouldn't have changed the result, UC put the ball on the ground a cpl times and recovered, then continue the drive,,,,at times NC defense looked really good, jumping in and out of a stacked line of scrimmage, NC coaches tried several looks and fronts against the UC line, the QB for UC is outstanding at what he does ! I love the ole style smash mouth FB and buddy UC does it bout as good as any small classification team I've ever seen, UC jus took away everything NC tried to do offensively and the eagles really struggled,,, I thought they should have run the McGraw #12 kid more to begin the game, he's the one that makes their offence open up a bit, but as I said earlier it wouldn't have mattered at the final buzzer,,, congrats to NC, next yr it will be you guys vs Peabody in the west semis,,,,Not being disrespectful but,, UC go get ur gold ball !

12 goes for 12 yards on 2 carries the first drive and gets the ball once the rest of the game. 35 who had great success a year ago gets the ball 2 times. I would've thought we would make them stop our best options. I assumed all year that when the big game was played, we would line up our best, full time on both sides of the ball. Definitely didn't happen.

  12. So with LSU, UT and Ole Miss the score was what....35-0? And with three D1 recruits there was only 33 yards of offense. Not an expert, not a scout, and have nothing to offer but an opinion; one view on an open message board voiced by many. My view still stands that playing D1 is tough and if that was D1 talent playing last night the outcome should have been different. But I guess those that are experts who are making the offers see something I don't. If these players ever actually step on the field and play a down I will admit I was wrong (not that it matters or I matter because again I am just a fan offering an opinion that means nothing to these players or their futures). I honestly wish them luck in college because college ball from NAIA to SEC is no joke...it is definitely NOT 1A ball.

    Were you at the game?

  13. Exactly. Not at all criticizing the kids...they are good 1A players. But they are not D1 players. Sorry have been around too many legit D1 players throughout the years and these kids aren't it. Again not saying they aren't good, just doubt they will ever see playing time in the SEC. And after being around legit D1 SEC talent, one player like that can truly put a team (especially in 1A) on his back and get a W or at least contribute to a team scoring and getting more than 33 yards of offense. Sorry NCS fans but you do NOT have 6 D1 players....

Don't worry though, you are not the only team that is living in a dream world. Have heard rumors that several players from other 1A schools in your district think they are D1 as well...were talking these kids think they are playing at Indiana, Wake Forest, Brown, MTSU, WKU, etc.. What these players (and parents) don't get is that THIS IS 1A ball....you are playing against 5'6" 150 pound kids. Try playing and actually starting on a 5A or 6A school and then talk. But even then the chances are slim unless you are genetically blessed or can run a legit time...not the 'fat finger" or padding the stats (you know who you are). Laughable that so many of these young players claim they run a 40 faster than men (yes they are men, not boys) leaving college getting drafted in the NFL. And to clarify, anyone can "walk on" at these D1 schools...they need a practice squad. Until you actually suit up and play in a game, you are not a D1 player. Sure you can say "I played at a D1 school," but guess what... you really didn't!

Congrats again to UC for a total dominant performance against NCS. Have no doubt you will win the gold ball next week. And for the poster that wrote that all the awards are meaningless and the gold ball is all that matters, YOU ARE RIGHT! I bet every player out there would gladly give back their district awards voted on by coaches or team awards voted on by fellow players to get a gold ball.

Another positive, with UC losing so many starters, NCS will probably be the team to beat next season in 1A to get the gold ball.

To be such an expert, how do you pick Clarkville Academy to beat NCS. And Clarksville Academy to beat Columbia Academy by at least two scores. And NCS to beat Union City. You've filled these boards with the analysis of someone who knows nothing. You've been waiting to be right about something for a month. You evaluated the beatings you took against CA and NCS and derived that CA was the better team. Forgive me if your I find your talent evaluation to be flawed.

I agreed with those saying 6 D1 recruits was a silly number. I referenced it a few times. But there definitely are a few. A few that have the frame and the ability. A few that have been recognized by people with far more intelligence than you.

Good luck judging talent from the stands over the coming years. As I recall, you roughed it for the 1st half of the NCS game, and decided to go home. That gave you the insight to spew your ignorant, uninformed analysis for the entirety of the playoffs. Your views would have carried a little more weight had you said any of it before the game. I have no respect for the I told you so crowd that never told us anything until after the fact.

Good news for the boys at NCS is you haven't been right about anything yet and your opinion has zero baring on their future. This my friend, is fact.

  14.

Where were the NCS's 6 D1 SEC players tonight? If there was even one legit D1 player this would have been a different outcome. I know, I know they already have offers, have committed, etc. Whatever...this NCS team dominated in 1A football, well not in every game in 1A football - can someone say 33 yards of offense and time of possession only 11.23? Yes NCS can dominate against all the 5'6" 145 pound players. But wait until these boys go up against true D1 talent, you know the ones that dominate in 5A and 6A. All I can say is, your coach must have great connections to get these players recruited. With this performance tonight, all the D1 talk is a joke. Sorry, being realistic. After seeing players go on to play at Florida, Stanford, Virginia Tech, etc., I guarantee you these players will never play a down in the SEC.

On a positive note, congrats to UC and my apologies for picking NCS to win. I admit, even I was caught up in the whole NCS frenzy with the talk of all that D1 talent. What is funny, I bet UC doesn't even have one D1 player and yet they demolished a team with the Ole Miss commit and all the other "D1" players. Bahahahahahahaha what a joke. Nope, not jealous, just keeping it real.

It must be great to have nothing better to do than dog the kids that have worked so hard to carve out a path for themselves. I wish I could bring Alex or Daniel either one to you to let you spew this garbage to their face. I doubt the words would come out quite as easy.
