Kam, Jayden, and Cash carry the pirates to victory this week. Taja has been a sneaky threat as well. The pirates will be undersized just like in every game but should have enough skill to get the w.

Agreed I do think taja and Jamarion will make a nice 1-2 punch as we go through the season. Need to make sure we keep Jayden unscathed until he is for sure 100% healthy we will need him bad down the stretch.

We WASTED Chris Jackson’s speed last season. I hate to see Hargis speed wasted when he comes back.

  2. Pirates by ALOT.

Whitwell is above average for whitwell, but nothing like the teams they have had that won a championship and competed deep in playoffs.

After the first few games I can say There won’t be many 1A backs that can go up for the jump ball in the end zone with Nas.

When the pieces come together and things get cleaned up this pirate team can go as far as any. Let’s be real, Even the most mediocre pirate teams still have a shot at the east in 1A most years.

Old Pirate got to watch the whole game and youth is everywhere. The regular SP posters yap, as usual bout discipline while they openingly verbally attack teenage young men wearing the jocks. This team has potential to grow, the complete overhaul continues. Hopefully the team can clean up mistakes common to inexpensive & youth. The matchup was exactly what it was tagged to be for the entire 4 quarters. Congrats to Murphy on the “W” & taking home the bacon. The Pirates proved to be a worthy competitor displacing a never quit attitude & effort throughout the fued. Continued efforts & improved discipline will yield a chance to reach loftier goals. Some SP posters would be ejected for unsportsmanlike conduct, Ifin coacht was officiated like game officials. It is shameful how many constantly bash the players actually suited up doing the fighting. Each snap of the ball is like a street fight, which doubtful many complainers ever were good at. Regards to all the players dedicated enough to strap it up.

It’s funny too, because the ones constantly bashing players never played a snap of football. Just keeping it real!

Just look at where we were around this time last season. Dade last year wasn't  as good as Murphy and NJ wasn't close.    Pirates will be just fine need to keep working and get better every week. There's a lot of season left. All I know is I would rather lose a dog fight against a good football team than beat Grundy by 50.

Much agreed. We had some kids grow up last night and it will make them a lot better.

I think adjustments were made we held them to 6 points in the second half.

Surely coaches know to get him the ball if we are talking about the same kid that got thrown OUT OF THE GAME. Guess he won’t get the ball next week either.

Yes having those 2 completely change the dynamic of a game. I believe it would have stopped the bleeding a little earlier if we did have something like that IMO

They clearly don’t know how to get him the ball and I know exactly why he doesn’t get it. But I won’t say much more on that. Having a line would have helped us a ton. I agree.

it does seem that some adjustments were made, so I was glad to finally see that but would liked to have seen them earlier.

And Heath did an excellent job as DC last year. But it helped tremendously having two man childs on the d line in Gio and JoJo

I am not saying we are as talented as recently. Im not blind lol, but I feel like we aren’t playing players we should be playing in certain places and we haven’t made any adjustments so far. The kids can’t do anything about that.

Oh I agree with having adjustments. The way we play defense we would be better having our best athletic players as db and just say you got this guy, you got this guy, and so on. It worked for Whitwell and their state team. That’s my two cents.

Prob need to do that at wideout too. We have an all state track runner and he’s touched the ball two times all season.

Let’s just be honest. Talent isn’t here like it was the last 6 years or so. I’m not going to be negative toward the kids but when you can’t cover a simple play action pass over and over again you’re in trouble. A lot of issues on this team but youth and weakness up front are the biggest. Pirates will continue to play hard.

It’s never the coaches though right lol Especially when they are family and friends. As of now there has been 0 adjustments made.

Sounds like Murphy's all conference center and their starting fullback/outside linebacker are out tonight with injuries suffered in practice this week. A very tough game just got that much tougher. Murphy doesn't have the depth to cover those kind of losses this season.

Always hate to hear that I know they would have loved to compete in an atmosphere like tonight

I’m thinking most of that went out the door with our 2021 seniors. Seems like a big task for this young Pirate team. Hoping they are ready for a battle.

While we did lose a lot of talent we still return Cash…. Wellington is a better QB in my opinion. Mount was most explosive player last season. He was a junior last season. So he returned. Talent dropped, but not as much as I think people are saying. Depth is what we lack most compared to last year if you ask me. Not overall skill.

Did we play quite a few freshmen last night? I liked the #9 running the ball toward the end of the game.

We have a freshman up front #73 that plays a lot possibly starts not sure

#30 DE is Fresh he’s  the big 6’5 kid plays quite a bit

#3 starts corner he’s a fresh had the pick 6 against LV

#9 is a fresh. Kid is a dawg.

#28 and #21 are solid players on special teams  and #21 will get some touches through the year. Both are fresh.

#57 gets quite a bit of time up front on D is also a freshman

8th grade class is pretty special as well

You need to look up East Surry 2019 team stats if you really believe that.

Pretty sure SP was ranked in nationally in PPG in 07 sir.

At the end of the day we will never REALLY know. You may very well be right. Our Opinions really hold no weight.

We will have a little bit of an idea after Friday night though :popcorneater::hungry:
