  1.  Here it is , Poor Little RedRobin got Butthurt because "Y'all had been filling this thread with all of your reasons why the Memphis teams (including, but not only, Whitehaven) doesn't have as many championships as the teams from "the East" (specifically mentioning Maryville, Alcoa" ....

The Funny thing is there RedRobin you're mad at " Y'all " and you don't even know who " Y'all " is . There are no Maryville fans on here talking Smack , but that didn't stop you from doing the exact same thing that all the Ensworth haters have been doing for years ... You threw out something trying to diminish the accomplishments of the Maryville kids .... I thought you would be one of the last ones to do that seeing as how much you have had to deal with it . Maryville plays by the same rules as everybody else does across the State , there are many teams just like Maryville across the entire State .... It really is beyond pitiful that you would try to do the same thing that all your haters have done . Ya , that's how Maryville has always won , by cheating and getting all these D1 Studs on our team every year .... How do you " BUY CHAMPIONSHIPS ??? " I don't know but maybe like Ensworth here in just 9 years has probably had 5X the Number of D1 Players as Maryville has had in the last 70 years !!!!!     LOL , Just think about that you Clown , here you are trying to point a finger at Maryville who has Accomplished everything they have without very many D1 Studs at all .... what a big bad man you are to want to throw suspicion and Doubt towards a Team that wins by a bunch of blue collar , Hard working " Richie Cunningham " ( ya according to your buddy BHS ) type players .

Gotta watch out for this RedRobin.  He's a special type of Clown.  Thinks he's better and above everyone else because he has an assigned parking spot next to Bowers.  Problem is he's no better than anybody else and it just eats at him.

  2. Funny - I don't recall typing (or thinking) any of that.  In fact, I think you are simply making it up to prove your point.  Which actually proves my point.  But whatever... you are free to represent CPA any way that you see fit.

Here's just one from the thread "Ricky Bowers has killed football in TN" thread.  There are many, many others like it:

From a factual perspective, your statements regarding each of these young men are demonstratably false. From a moral perspective, your statements are despicable. Libel can be defined as "the publication of malicious, defamatory falsehoods". Be careful - lawyers are everywhere - you may find that it is not worth the potential liability just to be a keyboard hater.

  3. Reading through this thread, I am appalled that this atmosphere of hatred and angst exists at CPA.  Though my wife and I chose, years ago, to send our kids to a different private, I always held good feelings about CPA; those feelings were bolstered by friends who had kids there. Those good feelings have changed, and if you think it is from people like Coach Brooks posting on this board, you should probably look in the mirror.  If you are representative of the "modern breed" of CPA supporters, it will likely not be long until the basketball players are the only students at the school.

So when people make the same allegations (which they do) on the DII about your private school, you don't sit back and take it.  I read your posts.  When people taunt you about when are you going to knock off Ensworth and why you folks get what you deserve, you fire right back with "it's all envy and jealousy generated hate" and "if my neighbor had a Lexus, I wouldn't throw rocks at it just because I don't have one".  No sir.  You are no different.  When you are constantly attacked, you bite back.  No different.

  4. Somebody has made reference in the past that CPA stays in Division 1 to spread their mission. How is that mission working out? Didn't the kid from southside say last year that he knows that everyone hates CPA. A kid from the other side of the state! Apparently the entire state has the same perspective about the CPA. They do anything they can to get players and beat up on the public schools! Lipscomb wont even play them now that they are no longer in the same district. Funny they dont want to play several of the D2 schools or they dont want to play CPA.

Supporters get on here and bash those whoe speak the truth! What kind of mission statement is that! CPA used to be a highly respected school! It's not the same now. All because of one Coach!

I'm not a CPA basketball supporter.  Never been to one game.  Don't care for the coach and I do agree that there is at least a severe problem of perceptions even if no rules have been broken.  That problem of perception has been publicly ignored by the administration instead of being addressed.  There are many CPA parents who detest the basketball program and don't support it just like me.  So, don't think this is a deep rooted people problem at the school.  Everyone is well aware of it.

Having said that, my problem here is with a former coach who was fired and a decade later still persists on a public forum.  A true man would better himself and move on.  Truthfully, if you didn't agree with his point of view about one coach at CPA, would you still agree with his methods?  The incecent whining and complaining wouldn't be tollerated if so many people didn't hate CPA because of the basketball program.

  5. Actually ICM, You are exactly the type of person I wouldn't want my kids to grow up and be like. You are bothered by kbrks and his posts that you and other CPAers feel are personal attacks motivated by revenge and that can be construed as hurtful to kids and their families. However, you don't seem to have a problem attacking others(kbrks) and other programs such as Franklin and Lipscomb. I am not privy to the specific situation at those schools, but I doubt if they have multiple transfers(who just happen to be outstanding, nationally ranked players) coming in every year. Many of the players and coaches at those schools work just as hard as many of the players and coaches at CPA, but lack the talent that Coach Maddux and CPA are able to "acquire." I don't feel like digging through past posts on here, but I know for a fact that you have made condescending and boastful posts on numerous occasions that were directed at more than one poster and even went so far as to challenge someone to meet you at half court during a CPA game(internet tough guy). You epitomize arrogance and hypocrisy and are a perfect representative of all the things about CPA that annoy high school basketball fans throughout this state.

Who cares what you think.  You would befriend anyone who shares your hateful and costic views on HS basketball and people in general.  That means you have no principles.  But at least you know how to run the shell drill.  Be gone troll.

  6. I couldn't care less if CPA basketball and Maddux come, stay, lay or pray.  Don't care in the least and never will.  If fans and haters alike want to unload on both, then go right ahead.  That's your right to speak your opinion.

What I do find sub-human is grown men who are personally miffed getting on a public board and crying over what happened 10 years ago.  Real men let go, get over it and move on with life.  Brooks displays psychotic tendencies by the way he's conducted himself here and elsewhere. Would you want him around your kid all day?

Does anyone wonder why he hasn't coached at all since he was fired at CPA?  Could part of it be for reasons you see here?  What kind of man acts like this?  He says he's here "to set the record straight".  For 10 years??  No, his problem is that he can't get over the fact that he failed in his life and got fired.  Instead of getting up, correcting his mistakes and making himself a better man like most of us would, he wallows in his own vomit and drags others down with him.  He's the kind of person you hope your kids don't grow up to be like.

And then there are active elders of "The Church" who openly engage in scriptural hypocrisy (Matthew 7:21-23).  Who would risk their eternal soul over basketball??  If it's that important, take your kid to Lipscomb or Franklin HS where they put no emphasis on talent or coaching and where the cheerleaders lead the team in rebounding.

  7. Coachrus are you a coach or a wannabe? I think rule follower is right. How many CPA moms really get on here and then lament about these message boards?

Ice cream man what kind of Popsicles are you selling? Maddux does a great job developing players? That statement says to me he takes the young players that are there and makes them better. He's done a great job with the mop up boys! He did a great job of developing Mason after he left the school for a year. Where would Brooks last team have been with Mason and where would Madduxs first team have been without him?

Would Bradshaw have signed with Belmont if he stayed at Greenbrier? Yep! Bradshaw was a good player already. Probably got the idea somewhere that CPA would vault him to the SEC.

Allsmiller could have played at Brentwood for a much better coach and still signed at Georgia state but his dad couldn't set on the bench.

Don't want to mention bonds. Don't want to rattle dad1's cage and wake him up.

Lindsey....... He was already being recruited by providence so why should he leave such a great developer of players? Maybe the director of admissions hurt the families feelings with not wanting basketball players to play baseball. Word is the little brother is a stud baseballer!

If you're the number one 8th grader in the country, somebody must have already been developing you!

Blackwell, funny he would leave the most prestigious private school in the state and jump ship to CPA just in time to join the dynasty. Wait, you're right, he was terrible when he got there. NOT!

Rulefollower you have some really interesting posts! You may be doing some insider trading!

Didn't brooks take a team to the state semis? Who were the big DI players on that team? I sure don't know!

Brooks, stop posting! EVERYONE knows your side, point of view, perspective............

Nothing you say or do will make a difference to people on this website.

If no one there (CPA) now wants to speak up it doesn't matter! Nothing will change until the wrong kid fails to take developing and falls under the bench.

My apologies to all the teary-eyed CPA moms! Your sons are great players and I'm sure great young men!

This ought to be a rap on this topic!

You don't have a clue what it means to develop someone from the time they are 12 years old to when they graduate HS.  How long did you play basketball and for which college?  Nonetheless, it's you perogative to get on here and gripe and I support your right to do so.

But it's these "grown men" who get on here and whine and cry because life didn't turn out like they wanted.  All these years of gripping and bitching and what has it gotten Brooks and Rulefollower (the Church elder)??  A segment on 60 minutes?  A special story on Outside the Lines on ESPN?  A Kennedy Center honor?  Anything?  Nope.  There's a reason why Brooks hasn't had a coaching job in a decade.  He got canned at CPA because of whatever reason and he's not man enough to accept it and move on.  It's that easy.

  8. I'm just curious. I know there are some hard feelings that seem to go back and fourth between several of you and Brooks. I don't really want to hear from the Coach but all of you CPA supporters that have a chip on your shoulder, why was he replaced? Was there something more than they wanted to give Maddux the job?

Brooks verbally berated and abused his coaching staff and players during more than one occurence while at CPA.  He lost the confidence of his team and employer and was fired.

As for Maddux, I'm personally no fan of his although he is a very good coach, has the respect of his players, develops his players and wins games.  Is it any wonder that parents and players from far away want to play for him?  If your son or daughter had the talent to be developed by  a highly sucessful and respected coach, wouldn't you want that opportunity for them?

That's it really and it's nothing new going on.  Parents want the best for their kids and if they have a chance to succeed by going to a private school to a coach with a proven track record of getting players scholarships, wouldn't you do all you could do to make that happen?  Sure you would.

Now, Brooks will reply to this and say that parents moving their kids to CPA or any other school because they have a chance to be better players and college players some day is nonsense.  But he has to say that.  If he agreed with it, he would also be agreeing with the fact that Maddux is a far better coach than him.  And that's the only reason he's here in the first place.  He just can't get over the fact that he got wacked because he wasn't good enough.

  9. CPA returned opening kickoff 92 yards, held GC 3 and out, then scored again and it was all over. 48-0 at half. CPA emptied bench and 2nd, 3rd team lost 12-0 in the 2nd half.

Preseason I predicted GC to win this game - shows what I know.

CPA is just so sound fundamentally, fast on defense, great kicking game. They are just a good team that doesn't beat themselves.

I was impressed with CPA's team speed on defense too.  Nothing gets to the corners.  Osborne is a great all around player.

  10. Interesting rankings you have there. I think you may be the only person in the state that would put those teams in that order. The only one I agree on is CPA, unfortunately.

CPA has lost 4 of last year's 5 starters on OL.  They're not close to being the same athletic power run blockers as last year.  CPA may not lose many games but it will only be because other teams are worse than them.  The Milan game will be close.

  11. Interesting comment coming from someone at a Christian school...saw this on Coach M's twitter feed a while back as well....hmmmmm...

You're one to talk.  You get on here and blame everyone but yourself for your kid not being good enought to cut it.  Did you ever try to help your kid?  Christian or not has nothing to do with this.  This is about being a man and taking care of your responsibilities.  What are you going to cry about now???  You and Brooks..the lonely hearts club band.

  12. Well, I guess the coach at Mercer is better than Coach K because he lost to a team with much less talented players than Duke. Yeh, right!

Of course, I also remember when CPA lost a close game in the semis in 2004 to a less talented team. I guess that was due to an average coach.

Wolves do not fret over the opinions of sheep.

  13. We have all heard all the arguments on this topic a thousand times over.  Privates have an advantage, open zones have an advantage, charter schools have an advantage, Magnet schools have an advantage.  Its only us "1 school in the county" schools that dont have room to cheat the system. Unless of course you allow kids to cross county lines and pay a nominal fee.  This aint happening  where im from.  Just for kicks lets start with single A football semi-finalist and see how each one had an advantage over the schools they beat to get there.  Starting with Nash Chr- easy enough to spot their advantage- cut tuition for athletes and call it work study. Heck they got enough work study hours over there to run a mid-sized manufacturing plant.  Brothers learned from the master at Brentwood Academy and knows the arm  of the TSSAA can only go so far, just dot your I's and cross your T's on your paper work and they have to just shake their head and move on.  I have heard they have an Ensworth transfer on work study, so let me get this straight, you can go to Ensworth and its Free and legal, but you decide to go to nash chr work for half your tuition and pay the other half, doesnt add up to me.  Conclusion they have a definite advantage.

Now lets look at South Pitt- they are a Single A school with a 4A(marion co) and a 2a (whitwell) also in their county.  Open zone applies here.  they have beat marion Co, the 4A larger school the last 5 years by a combined score of 214 to 46.  they have beat the 2a school (whitwell) by a combined score of 310 to 60.  So which school do you think Most football players in marion co go to.  With open zoning it allows SP to pull from a much larger pool than most Single A schools.  any reasonable thinking person knows that a single A should not just pound a 4a and 2A in the same county, year after year.  Conclusion Sp has definite advantage allowed by open zoning.

Coalfield the 3rd semifinalist- once again an open zone county.  there are 4 schools in Morgan co. Wartburg (2a) oakdale (1a) and Sunbright (1A) .  over the last 4 years Coalfield which is just scant miles away from these other 3 schools has beaten Wartburg (the 2A) by a combined score of 142 to 17, beaten Oakdael 183 to 6 and sunbright 154 to 67. Coalfield has had only 1 close game in 4 years between these 4 school that are within same county and same classification or higher than Coalfield.  Once again this doesnt add up.  Would make a reasonable person think most good football players in morgan co decide to go to Coalfield.  Conclusion- Coalfield has distinct advantage by selecton from entire county for football players.

Last but not least is Union City.  These guys have the perfect setup.  Large 4a school 8 miles away allows them to keep numbers down and stay in single A but have a huge talent pool to select from.  this system cant be beat.  they actually have just figured out their advantage in the last couple of years but their set-up is so sweet,  look for them to rule single A for the foreseeable future.  while they lost to the large 4a in '10 and '11 they whipped them in 12 by a score of 40-13 and Obion (the 4A) decided they didnt want to play against their own athletes and wouldnt play them in 2013.  the setup is perfect cause union city is a city school and Obion Co is a county school , 2 diff governing boards that dont have to answer to each other.  They dont have to play fair.  So if you want a state title do you load up the 4a or the 1a.  You know the answer and it worked like a charm. Conclusion- openzoning allows them tremendous advantage especially with the population numbers in Obion Co.  Should be embarrassed if they dont win it every year.  Look for them to get bumped up to 2a when they discover its easier to win than 1a is.

So who is the bigger offender here? the private? or the openzone? not sure but the system sure needs some fixing

PLEASE do 3A next!!!  13 and 36%.  LOL!!!

  14. Unfortunately, they probably will not rest them because he will want to maximize the "statement".

Kind of like Allsmiller still hitting threes in the 4th quarter when they were up by over 40

Should have dropped down to 1A with G'pasture.  Now that was a statement.
