Yeah, Dyersburg maybe the best team Lake County played so far this team. I don't think your comment about recruiting is an appropriate comment to make. Everyone knew LC was a heavy underdog coming into the game. Was this a surprised to you?

No not a surprise at all. Maybe I should have kept that comment to myself but it's the truth. I have my on opinion on private schools but I will just keep it to myself. Good luck to whoever you cheer for.

I disagree.West Carroll would get beat by 60 against those teams.Camden proved that.Camden has lost to Milan by about 40 points. To a down Trenton by 30 .Those teams aren't as good as Dyersburg.JCS

Bigster Dyersburg or JCS could have beat us by 60 if they wanted and do it easily. Most years no but this year they could.0

  3. Bigster the only argument I would have in your above statement is that LC has not been competitive in those games against Dyersburg, Obion Central and JCS. A team like West Carroll would also get blown out by those teams. So the loses do not out weigh as much as a win against the lesser opponents. If LC had played within 14 points of those teams then I would say that it was a good loss. A win is always better in my book but I get what you are saying but like I said LC was non competitive in those games.

Are you talking about Calvin Mullins and Lake county? We’ve been talking about Skylan Smith, who plays for Covington, during the game against Dyersburg. Covington did not have a 60 plus yard run in that game.

I was talking about Calvin Mullins. Sorry for the mistake.

Man I know exactly where Lake County is at and I’m being optimistic & idc how many times Moore County has been there & idc if they ever win it so I don’t understand your logic!! I’m Lake County born & raised so idc about no other team’s success tbh!!!

Man I get what you are saying. All I am saying MC has a good team and program. You and I support the same school.

I like your stat better than mine, but I have double-checked mine. I get the official stats e-mailed to me after each Covington game, and Skylan is listed for 47 yards rushing on 15 carrys in the Dyersburg game. What is the source of your data?

Well like I said know for a  fact what he had that night. Heck his first rd run was 60 plus in that game. I have kept stats for Lake County since the 2000 season. I take alot of pride in having both teams stats correct.

Definitely didn’t have 147 yds against Dyersburg. They had 19 total yds of offense in the 2nd half iirc. Dyersburg shut them down.

He most definitely did. Not trying to argue with you but I know for a fact what he rushed for. Anyway good luck to Dyersburg.

Yes indeed he is and I don’t think MC would want to see LC in any year because the last time I checked we outted y’all in the semifinals in 1994 and then y’all got swamped by a mediocre St. Benedict team in the semi that wetted the field on LC in 1996 to get to the semis & as you stated ya’ll are still waiting on that lone luxurious GOLD BALL & LC just trying to add more hardware to an already over stocked trophy case lol lol lol!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Man Moore County has been to the title game 3 times and just haven't gotten over the hump yet. If they are going to do it this will be their year to do it. Dawson White is a heckuva player just as our Calvin Mullins is. Mullins has insane numbers this year. He is closing in on 90 total tackles also this year through 7 games. White is also putting up impressive numbers. Imo he will win Mr. Football this year because his team is also having alot of success. Moore County will play at least until the semifinals this year and maybe they will play for the title. Our falcons will make the playoffs and win a game or 2. I will say this better days are on the way for Lake County.

How many Mr.Football (1a) winners have won the award on a team that hasn't made the championship game? Just curious who has won it on a team that only made it just to the 2nd or 3rd round?

In 1994 James Cook for East Robertson won Mr. Football. East Robertson finished 10 and 2 that year and lost in 2nd rd of the playoffs to Lake County. That same year Lake County's Jewel Flowers rushed for 2848 yards and 48 tds and guided his team to the state championship game losing to So. Pitt 14 to 7. In the game he rushed for 178 yards and td. Jewel Flowers should have won the award but didn't. The 3 guys that up for the award that year was Lake County Jewel Flowers, East Robertson James Cook and Bruceton's Joe Longmire. Flowers had the better stats of the 3 and led his team to the title game. Longmire had the 2nd best numbers that year.

I appreciate the well wishes. I wouldn't doubt if they end up with Coach J Puckett sooner or later. I'm sure Haywood pays a lot better than we could ever dream. I'm also sure Morris makes his way back to his alma mater eventually as well. That's 1A ball. Can't expect a coach or coaches to stay 20 years anymore. All you can hope is they leave the program better than when they got here. I still don't understand what bigsters beef is though. Anytime we have success he seems to have an axe to grind. We're not even in the same region right now he can give it a rest.

I also don't understand what Bigster beef is. Imo he is just stirring the pot some. He likes do that. As for myself, I just like talking high school football. You are very correct now days coaches use 1A coaching jobs as a stepping stone. I often wish that Lake County would get a good coach that will stay for more than 5 to 7 years. You cannot blame any coach for taking a better payed job. What it would take for a coach to stay along period of time at a 1A school would be for that coach to have grown up in the county or town and wants to coach at the school he played for and attended. If I am looking at things right West Carroll will play McKenzie to decide the region champ. I think that is great for West Carroll and maybe this is the team that future West Carroll teams would look to and say they are the ones that put WC on the map in competing for region championships year and year out. All 1A schools go through down cycles. The good ones limit the number of years in between the good and a average years. I have pointed to this year and next to be considered down years for Lake County. In 2025 if everything holds together LC could possibly go on another run. LC should be able to make the playoffs the next 2 years and possibly win a playoff game. Not bad for a couple of down years. I just hope the Lake County faithful understand where the programs at right now and know that the future is bright. Good luck to your War Eagles the rest of the way.

No a scrimmage means basically nothing especially when you get 5 downs to get a first down. I don't remember the score of the first. Didn't go to the 2nd but I know we weren't even running the same offense then. Had our backup QB playing and I also recall Gleason playing y'all to a 2-2 tie or 2-3 game. Surely that means the game would be close, no?

No it doesn't mean anything. I believe I stated that. West Carroll is having a good year. Enjoy it. Like I said I am glad WC is having a good year. They have 2 coaches who was at LC. One a player and the other a coach. I am willing to say you will lose one of them to Haywood County next year or the year after. Maybe both I know that Coach Puckett and Coach Dowland are good friends.

You are correct! South Pittsburg has the #2 scoring offense in all classifications and the # 2 Defense in all classifications. All I hear is how Spitt don’t play anyone. We have played 2 or 3 6-2 Teams a 5 A school and a 4A Alabama School and the #1 2A private school and only giving up a little over 3 points a game with 4 shutouts in 7 Games averaging a little over 47 points. I’ve said all year this is a once in 15 year Team in Spitt and that says a lot. It’s the fastest defense I’ve ever seen at Spitt.  Unless Spitt beats themselves with stupid penalties they will be in Chattanooga. It’s gonna be hard for anyone in the east to score against them. Nobody in 1A has scored a single point against Spitt.

Like I said So. Pitt will not be tested until the Title game and maybe not then.

thinkin you could flip a coin on that LC vs WC contest winner

    Booger just sayin

Booger I can tell you this LC beat WC 4tds to 0 in a spring scrimmage and beat them 9 to 3 in the fall. Now a scrimmage doesn't mean alot but those are pretty convincing. I have video of both those scrimmages and all of LC scrimmages and games.

You day drinking again buddy??  Lake County is no where near the caliber of a McKenzie, much less those other teams mentioned. West Carroll would probably embarrass Lake County at this point. Just go ahead and clean the possum crap off your decoys and get ready for duck season because you won’t be watching much more LC football this year.

Never said Lake County would beat McKenzie this season. Lake County would beat West Carroll bad if the two played. McKenzie is a good team just not state title good this year. Just for giggles I do believe the one common opponent LC and McKenzie both played isDresden. Go look at those games and see who played Dresden closer. I'll give you a hint. It's not McKenzie.

Underachieved? Man, every school not named Alcoa or South Pittsburgh would love to underachieve like the Huntingdon Mustangs have over the last 8 or 9 years. Does the Mustangs expect to play in a State Championship every season, yes. That’s what they expect here. I get tired of people saying they can’t win in the playoffs. Here is who put Huntingdon out of the playoffs the last 9 years:

    14-15 Peabody- Won State Championship

    15-16 NCS- Won State Championship

16-17 NCS- Won by 1 point

17-18 Cornersville- beat Huntingdon in 2 OT-1 point-Lost State Championship

18-19 Cornersville- beat Huntingdon by 1 TD- Lost State Championship by 1 point

19-20 Lake Co- Won State Championship

    20-21- Moore Co

21-22 MAHS- beat Huntingdon by 1 point

    22-23 Riverside- Lost State Championship

so in 6 of the last 9 years Huntingdon lost to teams that played in the State Championship game. Not too bad I’d say.

Maybe underachieved wasn't the right word. I know in the past 8-9 years that Huntingdon was the odds on favorite to get to the finals. Especially the 1A years. Huntingdon has been in the mix for the title game for the last 8-9 years but didn't get the job done. That is what I was basing my opinion on.

The west is absolutely better than the east. South Pitt is just as good or better than any of the teams out west. But Gordonsville/Clay are the next best behind SP in the east but would be probably 5th or 6th best out west

Images, I agree that So.Pitt is as good as any team from the west. I also think that the Pirates have a slight advantage in the Title game do to the west teams having to run the gauntlet in the playoffs. The Pirates I seriously doubt are challenged until the title game.

Booger nose stuff....R7 and Lynchburg scrap this contest out for them skilletheads from south kimbrell...

..the LC thing is intreagin ......but not a large as their good runs

....anything else happens is a rare missed Booger Pickin

    Booger just sayin :thumb:

No this years addition of the Falcons is down compared to alot of Lake County past teams. LC might could shock one legitimate playoff contender but I don't think they could run the gauntlet that the west bracket will have this year.
