Cannot wait for Tuesday. Oakdale handled Rockwood without Steinmetz playing a minute, and Grace put out a very good Coalfield team. Oakdale/Grace will be intense. Grace has the better 1-3, but I believe Oakdale's team as a whole is better. Grace won't be able to outrun Oakdale and vice versa. This game will be decided by rebounding and foul trouble/free throws. Each team can run and shoot just as good as each other. If Oakdale doesn't fix their transition D, Grace could win big though. I expect a game in the 80's or 90's. I think the Eagles will come out on top in a close one.

Hasn't Harriman lost a lot of first round region games in their history? I thoroughly think Coalfield can beat them. I wouldn't bet my life savings on it, but if Coalfield comes to play they can win.

Rockwood crashes the boards good, which can give Oakdale some fits. Just can't see Oakdale losing to them. Too much talent. Eagles by 18

12thManGCA, I think I saw you shooting at the Rockwood/Grace game a few weeks ago. I'll be shooting whatever games I end up at for either the Roane or Morgan County News. Haha. That Oakdale/Wartburg game: WOW. However, one glaring fault stood out that could cost the Eagles against Grace should they play: transition defense. Oakdale is a running team for sure, but Carroll and the Dawgs sliced Oakdale up in the fast break. If they don't fix that, Grace will score 150.

I'm hearing that Snow is retiring from working in the school system, but not from coaching. Not 100& sure though. A girls' player told me that.

The "worst" of the 3A teams is Midway, and it's an insult to call them anything short of a great basketball team. Led by Lee signee Abby Bertram, they're a force to be reckoned with. I think 3A will sweep as well. Only shot for 4A is Oneida winning a barn burner at home if they get Grace.

CAH09, I wasn't trying to take a jab at you personally. I hope it didn't seem that way, and if it did I apologize. Take a look through this page, Facebook, Twitter, wherever when a team loses. You will see mention of terrible officiating or a terrible call costing a team the game almost every time. Just tired of seeing people pass the blame on the officials every game.

Can we rename this forum to "How the refs cost *Insert team here* the game!!"? Every time a team loses, somebody brings up officiating. It's aalllwwaayyss the refs' fault. It's getting old lol.

JELLICO defeats OS at OS? Who saw that coming? Heard Coalfield-Oneida was a barn burner. Hats off to the Indians. Best 3-win team you'll see out there. I hate to be the one that asks and PLEASE don't let an argument go on in here, but what happened at the Coalfield-Oneida game that got everybody so fired up?

Before the 2011 season, OS made it to the region every season myself and my dad can remember dating back to 2001. Before 2001, I don't know. The first half of that stretch, Oliver Springs was a AA school. Crazy successful. Making it to the region 14 out of 16 years (Maybe more) doesn't happen to any run of the mill school.

1st round doesn't look too great at first glance. However, Coalfield better not overlook Oneida. Oneida gave them everything they could handle the last time. The Indians have been playing very well lately despite the win total. Just haven't been able to finish out a game. I still think Coalfield will win, but if I had to pick an upset out of those games, it would be Oneida over Coalfield.

Mighty Oakdale took down Oliver Springs on the road in the most hostile environment in the district! Hats off to the Lady Eagles. Making it to the region makes this season a success based on how things were going earlier in the season in my opinion. Don't think they've got enough to take down Oneida Friday, but crazier things have happened.

4A tournament and region Tournament are at Wartburg. 3A tournament is at Rockwood.

District tourney starts Tuesday! My Lady Eagles get to travel to Oliver Springs. A team they beat a few weeks ago. HOWEVER, playing at Oliver Springs unleashes a whole new beast. Gonna be tough to win at OS.

All district teams are out. Can't argue with Joe Layne for Coach of the Year. Oakdale got the MVP, Maverick Smith ...and no players on first team all-district. Steinmetz wasn't worthy? Or Jackson Hicks? And Colyer Hicks/Brady Bingham weren't good enough for 2nd team? That team has ran through the district for two years and gets two players on 2nd team. I know these are individual awards, but I believe Steinmetz and J. Hicks had done plenty to secure a 1st team spot. I do like Noah Freels on first team though. Great player. Oh well, what's done is done. Don't want to complain too much, just felt that Oakdale should've been represented more. Steinmetz or Jackson Hicks should've gotten a first team nod in my opinion. But I only post on CoachT, and therefore my vote does not count. Hahaha. I also wish voting was done after ALL the games have been played.

Oakdale has a few days to prepare for Wartburg. It'll be senior night for the Eagles as they seek to get revenge for their only district loss of the season. That. Game. Will. Be. Awesome. Can't see the Eagles dropping two games to Wartburg, however, I was wrong last time when I said the Eagles would take down the Dawgs easily.

I was at Rockwood/Grace. I understand that Grace didn't play their best game and Rockwood was on fire... ...but that's it? I was expecting way more from the way Grace is talked about on here and some of the scores of games they've won. I don't think they'll just walk all over Oakdale, Coalfield or Wartburg. Ledford, Arnold, and Gettlefinger (spelling?) are all good players, but I expected more. Their other starters and bench players left a lot to be desired for sure. On the other hand, I love how they run their system so well. They get the ball up the court extremely fast and only take good shots. Don't think they can out run Oakdale or Wartburg like they do a lot of teams. Both teams are structured very similarly. Coalfield would have a size advantage, but might not be able to keep up with the pace.
