  1. Summertown came out shooting lights out last night against Forrest, the game was never in question. The Eagles continue to build momentum, anxious to see how the district games go.
  2. I agree with 12AEAGLEFAN, the starters could not buy an outside shot for the majority of the first half, I thought Tyler Clark provided a spark off the bench. One play in particular, after we committed a turnover, he had a good stop in transition and then followed that up with an " and 1" on our end. Yes, defense kept it close and Mt. Pleasant seemed to not react well to the pressure of a close game along with some timely hit 3's by McGill and Perry. It seems that the Eagles are figuring out how to win, other than shooting a barrage of 3's. McGill seems to be finding his shooting touch (after a missed season) which takes some pressure off of Scott and Perry. I think if Beard can continue to work hard, which he does, and starts to finish more on the post, the Eagles could be a tough matchup for anyone.

  7. I am not going to throw names out there, but there are some people close to the program that could change the atmosphere and attitude with the junior high "boys" program. The girls side is in good hands because the coach knows the importance of skill development. The boys have no discipline and you cannot win without it. When you do not work on fundamentals, it will show. It shows. It is also not fair to the jv team players who do not get to practice enough and have only played 4/5 games total. Those kids would have been better off playing in the Saturday league. At least they would have gotten regular practice time and playing time. I believe the best available players have not been put on the court together at the same time. It is very alarming if you have a kid who wants to play at the high school level, not getting what he/she needs. I do not believe I am the only one who feels this way. The old saying goes " you cannot continue to do the same thing and expect different results". I am not sure when a boys team has consistently got beaten this badly on a long time. Summertown has always has pride and a winning tradition, I sure hope something changes, SOON!
  8. I could not agree more, any successful program starts with a commitment from the coach, which the Summertown Jr High boys program does not have. Evidenced by missing multiple practices and games, unacceptable, if you are not going to commit, get out. It is not fair to the kids playing, because they are not getting prepared for high school and like Alumni12A said, it is starting to show, starting with this years sophomore class and down. The sophomore class is really making improvements, but they did not come into high school where they should have, skill wise. A change is in need if this program wants to continue a winning tradition.
