  1. One thing I hope the new coach does is keep all the young kids off the sidelines during the games. If you want one or two as ball boys fine but as many as they have let in the past is ridiculous not to mention a liability hazard for the school
  2. That will be the key, Wilkinson is more of a conventional pocket passer, but can run if needed, Majors is probably the better athlete but is only a sophomore and has limited experience, Gudat could be ok if daddy will stay out of the way, but the unknown and maybe the best option would be Malik Ladet, great athlete and has a good football IQ. He will be a senior and could hold the position while the two younger ones come along. Spring practice should be very interesting.
  3. Adam Wood and Issac Slatton have been overseeing workouts the last few days, and I heard a rumor that Matt Turner may be coming back as line coach but haven't seen anything official.
  4. Coach Smith starts fulltime today. I hope he can turn this thing around 180 and not do a 360 with the same old stuff. I did hear that the only two confirmed members of the staff have been working with the young men in the weight room. I think these two are the best fit for a new head coach, personally I would like to see more new guys on the staff why buy a new car and out retread tires on it.
  5. I actually don't have a kid playing and have never coached youth football and I'm not even from McMinnville just happen to work there. There are several people that I work with that have kids playing and say the minute that Rackley steps onto the field their kid is gone some even say they'll play for Boyd for a year then go to neighboring counties.
  6. Heard at work that Rackley may be on staff, if true looks like the no daddy ball statement is gone before spring practice. Looks like Boyd May have enough kids to start a team after
  7. He will have to win back the confidence of a lot of the kids that texted that he was going to Boyd. Kids need stability and flip flopping back and forth won't help.
  8. I didn't get to attend since I work nights but was told he said that the days of "daddy ball" in WC are over. I hope it's true and the administration will back him on that, there are a lot of good athletes roaming the halls that are not playing because of that very reason.
  9. They should get David Upton to coach the D Line. He would bring much needed toughness to the team. I don't know if he would come back but Matt Turner would do wonders with the offensive line
  10. As long as Lee and Rackley have nothing to do with it the program will be better off
  11. As long as Lee and Rackley have nothing to do with it the program will be better off
  12. Reason we "disappear" after the first game is that game is over and we move on to whoever is next. We have more important things to do than come on another team's page and talk smack 6 months before the season
  13. First thing I would do is talk to the former coach, find out which parents are the trouble makers and their kid would be on a short leash. You don't need more texts going around about getting rid of the coach
  14. Maybe it took Ronnie Brown and Jimmy Walker on the committee to bring some common sense to the committee. They won a state championship in baseball, I know that's not football but they know how to maneuver thru the minefield that is coaching in Warren County. I hope so.
  15. Boyd doesn't have enough going to school there, but their baseball teams let kids that don't even attend school there to play, which I imagine that's how they intend to fill the team. Any how I hope the committee has done a good job picking the coach because the future of the football program is on their heads now.
  16. Great hire IF they let him bring the assistants he wants and coach his way. Hopefully WC has learned from the last four years and took a look at the coaches they've had and the success those people had once they left. Gary Rankin, Heath Woods, Glen Campbell are a few that come to mind
  17. That name was one of the 5 finalists that I heard. Supposedly Cotton has taken the position of head coach for F.C. Boyd's new football program, which could pose a problem for the Pioneers. If Boyd runs it like their basketball and baseball programs they will try and take any good players from the WC team. But my question to any potential departing players is why would you leave a TSSAA program for one that plays against mostly home school teams? I don't think a lot of college recruiters attend those games
  18. The soph QB will never touch the field if Cotton gets the job, since he is dating the Jr QB's sister.
  19. Heard that one of the finalists is a former head coach of one of the district teams.
  20. I was told a Billings or Billingesly , from Texas was given an interview late last week. My source couldn't remember a first name only he is now an DC at a Texas high school and played DT at Texas Tech. Also the coach from Moore County was really interested.
  21. I don't think Cotton is quite ready to be a high school head coach yet. He would make a good coordinator, he has a great football mind but being a successful middle school head coach is a world away from being a good high school head coach. At least Willmore is going to oversee the weight room until a new coach is in place. I really hope the school administration doesn't screw up this hire, it would be nice to know who is on the 5 person selection committee besides Willmore, Cassel and Cox because the future of football in Warren County is on their shoulders and if it doesn't work out this time it should be their heads that roll too.
  22. Better question is why would a kid want to play for a non-TSSAA school? Supposedly a former assistant coach and current school board was overheard telling the former ms coach that he would be the next coach at the high school and if the school board member was defeated in the upcoming election that he would be brought as a coach. Don't know if all this is true, but sure sounds like the kind of WC usual happenings
  23. I don't think it will be the former middle school coach, after it was told at the booster meeting that he resigned two weeks to start a football program at F.C. Boyd. You would have to wonder where his loyalty really belongs to.
