  1. Unlike teams of the past if Bonds gets into any foul trouble then guard play drops tremendously. Blackwell can definitely handle the ball but is good of enough to set up other players and control the flow of the games as bonds does. Last year if Bonds leaves the floor do to foul trouble you still have the pick and roll options with Blackwell and Lindsey. The year before that Bradshaw and Wharton would be able to pick up the slack. I like to see a team run box and one on CPA and deny Braxton Bonds the ball to see how the offense would flow. And attack there shooters make them play defense.
  2. CPA showed me that they are ready to try and achieve the 3peat. But don’t want to start on the ifs and what could have been because bottom line is Drew was well prepared for CC. I think Coaching fell short for CC because they played one of the weaker teams CPA has had in the last four years. They are good because they are long, can shoot well, and well coached. CC had no zone offense plays and it showed. If public schools could get any kid they wanted I love to see East Nashville with Darden as the big man and play CPA. Great basketball good game. But I think the AAU team will 3peat.
  3. If CPA win by 25 does that mean they beat everybody by 25 and win another state championship. Question if CC can force Braxton Bonds to beat them by scoring do they have a chance I mean just leave him wide open force him to attempt more than 10 field goals. On the other hand CPA coaching is too smart to allow that to happen but CC sixth man may be able to persuade him. CPA is good but not good as the past teams.
  4. Honestly if you look at the teams CC matches up better with CPA than East. It was a great game a lot of athletics on both teams. If you were watching the game did you notice or was it just me there was not a lot of play calling, no pick and roles just up and down one on one REC ball. If any one of these teams are to beat CPA they will have to stop the pick and roll which Bonds runs very well. One thing about CPA the zone defense will be in effect no man to man from them. So CC coach better dust off all the zone offense plays he has and run them well. Cubs do have a chance because if any year to beat CPA this is the year. Which game is going to be the most interesting game CPA vs CC or EAST vs Cascade?
  5. Cheatham County played well what are you kidding just playing hats off to the supporting cast for the Cubs and the two work horse did what they normally do get bucks. Cubs control the pressure and shot the ball very well and jump out on Pearl. Austin Douglas 18 and Wesley Harlan 11 made the Cubs look like a different team from last Saturday. Pearl Cohn has been under size in my opinion all year so tonight size match ups and poor shooting caught up with them. Now if both teams play like they did tonight it will be an awesome Regional championship game maybe evening overtime. After Saturday I thought I could predict the final three games but after tonight I have been reminded that is why they play game. Good Luck Both Teams!!!!!!
  6. The Cheatham County Cubs are very good but if they were to compete in a harder district it would be more L then wins. If Jacob Saunders did not show up they would have lost. He blast MLK for 36 pt and they only won by 3, the week before that East pound MLK by like 50 points. For a team with a record like you stated MLK should have been a walk in the park. Give Drew and CPA credit he always made sure they played top notch teams to keep their edge. The Cheatham County Cubs have not played any top notch teams and the East win was questionable due to missing football players. Now J.Saunders and J.Darden can play ball but Cubs bench is not deep. The only chance they have against Pearl is to control the offense of boards and handle the pressure and they might be able to pull off a win. All 10AA Regional Championship with winner advancing to the State and loser traveling to CPA.
  7. CPA former 10AA team took a couple of district losses back in 2010. But when you have a core group that have played together since they were 11yrs old and then you add very valuable piece along the way it make hard to complete against them. On top of that your High School coach introduce you to his play book in the fifth grade and coaches for the next four years until you’re eligible to play for him in high school. Best believe if any year this year Mr Maddox coaching skills will be tested.
  8. I notice someone is using the word average when referring to MLK and Lipscomb. No disrespect to District 9AA but those average teams finished the district in fifth (MLK) and sixth (Lipscomb) place. The third(Maplewood) and fourth(Stratford) place team due to kids not finishing the year and bad coaching are not represent in the region 5 tournament. So average is an understatement if you play ball and win games in district 10AA you can play with anybody. At this time of the year if they could let the kids play it would be easy to predict winners and not allow the REFs to controll the outcome.
  9. 10 AA has a great chance to sweep with Lipscomb playing Harpeth and do not sleep on Doc Shelton Royal Lions with their frustrating man zone defense and time consuming offense. M.L. King is not skilled in the guard position but Jordan Darden will be put to the test on Defense guarding Jalen Duke. The kid can fill it up quick. Overall record and stats leans towards Cheatham Co but if Jacob Saunders has an off day it will be a early exit for Cheatham Co and Sweep for 10 AA.
