  1. Guess I am not surprised someone else beat Rhea County either, Pioneers12, just thought it would be Warren County and not White County. After going through most of the season, Cookeville is the best team in the District, by far. Warren County is the second best team and could be a big problem for Cookeville in the tournament. Rhea County is probably number three and then the rest. Stone and Cumberland and White have a couple of individuals who are really good players, but their whole teams are not equal to Cookeville and Warren County.
  2. Cookeville just keeps on winning!!! Looks like they will take the District Regular Season again this year. They have "that" ability to keep coming back again and again!!! White County "Shocked" the socks off of Rhea County, beating them, in Rhea County. Not sure what happened, hope someone who saw the game can tell about it!
  3. Rhea County took two games from Warren County - Good games and good plays. Some real good players on both teams. The top two teams are still Cookeville and Rhea County, but they better watch out for Warren the tournaments. They are getting primed for the tournament play. Cookeville blanked Stone Memorial. Not a contest there. Cookeville overpowered them. Looks like some players are giving up on Stone. White County drilled Cumberland County. Not quiet sure how Cumberland won the first one. But no contest here on the second one. Warren County beat White County. Warren scored 7 runs on three hits. Good pitching by both pitchers. Errors and inability to hit by White County are killing them.
  4. Certainly appreciate the comments to my post. Sour Grapes in no way! I am pulling for DeKalb to win it all. And, I am not stupid enough to think the pitcher can do it all. What I am saying is: DeKalb is good enough to win it all, completely good enough to win it all. Bond is excellent, but, get the pitcher some rest so she will be full firepower for the tournaments. She is good, the team is good, but last year she was pitched to death. Her team couldn't help her at all in the finals so she needs to be completely rested. Why pitch her against teams that are so weak they couldn't beat DeKalb if they only played with three players on the field? I know they are good, just don't be stupid and pitch your top pitcher against teams who have won 2 or 3 games.
  5. Love undefeated teams, just like everybody else, but would rather win a State Championship than be undefeated - my point - DeKalb is pretty tough, but they have ONE pitcher. ONE pitcher who helped take them to the State last year and she was worn completely out when they got to the Finals!!! And this year is going to be the same. The pitcher is pitching against teams that are awful and of course they are winning BIG - 12-0, 12-2, and so on. I don't get it. Get some other kid in there to do some of the work against the teams that are not in your District. My gosh, get the kid some rest so you can have the firepower to bring home a STATE Championship! DeKalb won't get it done again this year because they won't have the arm to do it WHEN IT COUNTS!!!
  6. Yeah, Warren County is the most improved team I have seen in the District. They hit the ball well! Tournament time teams better watch out! But, also Cookeville and Rhea County are awfully tough. They are playing a ton of real good teams and by tourney they will be tougher and more seasoned. The rest of the pack are kind of sad. Saw the Cookeville - White County game last night and Cookeville won. Two of White County's pitchers are really good - I have watched the Parker and the Savage girls in travel tournaments and both have a lot of movement on their pitches and probably 4-5 different pitches each, but last night it looked like only fastballs were called for both of them to pitch, so, as I say, anybody can hit a fastball! The errors on White County team is unreal - one of the biggest - bases loaded and two outs and a fly ball to center - the center fielder just watched it hit the ground and Cookeville was off to the finish line. I say it like it is and sometimes those of you are turned off by that, but I just say the truth. Hope you will comment more on this District, the top three are good, and the bottom three are not, but maybe this will bring some issues to light. Waiting on the next game!
  7. Well, what is everyone's thinking now that season has started and games have been played in the District. I think the top teams are still Rhea County, Cookeville, and Warren County.
  8. Let's just get started! But, I'm thinking: Rhea County Cookeville Warren County Cumberland County White County Stone
  9. The end of the Women's College World Series is here and as I look over the teams who have been in the tournament - I am amazed by the comfort level of the teams. They actually are having fun, something unlike what our schools allow for the softball teams. And, while they are relaxed, they play better, play relaxed and love the game. It is pathetic that the high schools don't have some of that mentality. I mean, in order the the kids to play to their highest level, they have to have fun, right????? They have to be relaxed, right???? And, they have to want to play for their team, teammates and coaches, right???? I have been involved in this game for twenty five years and I have yet to see a State Champion where the players were not relaxed and having fun and the coaches were engaged in the game, watching every play and smiling when the things they work on in practice work!!! The didn't walk around with their noses stuck up their backsides and mad at the world. Now I have been involved in this District, as well as District 7, District 8 and District 9 and have seen a lot of changes and a lot of ignorant coaches and I am floored how those ignorant ones will not change, only changing the players after graduation. Don't get me wrong, we have some very good coaches in each of these Districts, some very good players and very good facilities, but, some of the knowledge from these coaches is just simply - not there. I have watched coaches from District 6AAA - (now, I will just tell you right now, I will always tell it as I see it - hopefully I will not hurt anyone's feelings, but in the process of being completely honest, I'm sure I will. So I apologize in advance, but, I am honest in my observations, at least). This District is pretty weak - especially when compared to State Tournament teams. Our two representatives to the Region were just drilled after getting out of the District. But, they drilled everyone in the District. What I see is, Cookeville teaches fundamentals in all phases of the game. And, their kids have a lot of fun before games and in the dugout. Are they serious about the game - you better believe they are!!! Rhea Co also teaches fundamentals - their coaches watch every aspect of the game - every play, everything on the field - nothing gets by them and they adjust to every pitch and every batter. The kids play loose and free and relaxed. Warren Co has coaches who know the game and teach every aspect of the game as well. The problem with Warren Co is, the players just don't seem to care about anything. They were pathetic in the District Tournament. When they had a chance to finish second, they just decided the had rather be somewhere else, as was evident when playing Cumberland and White Co. In other words, some of the skills were there, but attitude was just awful. Cumberland Co on the other hand, had kids who wanted to win. Their coaches were a little raw, but they questioned calls and got the kids involved in calls which in turn, fired them up completely. The players had improved tremendously over the coarse of the season and showed how much fun they had improving and playing good good ball. Stone Memorial has a tremendous coach who was an outstanding playing in her younger days. I watched her with her confidence, skill, hustle and pure determination to play better than her opponents. What a player she was!!! She has given that same grit to those players on Stone. She has helped them learn the game, love the game and want to improve in their play. She watches every single player on that field and can tell you where each one of the players were on any given play. She is smart and a true teacher of the game. White Co is probably one of the worse coached teams I have seen in this District. Now, don't get me wrong - they do try to work on fundamentals. But, I don't know how to coach a team and never look at the game itself. I watched one night and wondered why fielders were not being pulled in - playing on the fence - the coaches never looked up from their clipboards. One was evidently giving pitches and facing the catcher only. That was his only duty. The other was on her bucket and looking at a clipboard as well. The players stayed on the fence - ok - two feet in front of the fence and watched 5 straight balls drop 30 feet in front of them. Never a change. The laziness of the players is unreal, and believe me, this team has no fun whatsoever. Players and coaches all are sulled up from game start to game finish. Well, needless to say, I think this is a weak District. But, it all starts with loving the game, a game which is special - special to know individual kids work hard, pitchers who work all year and hitters who work all year. Just a special game that I love, my family loves!!!!! I just wish some of the coaches loved it too. Thanks for listening and hopefully we can all talk about a tremendous game with so much potential for the future.
  10. Hey jimbo44, well, I agree with you 100% - he would be a great choice. And, as for putting the best players on the floor - that's the reason for his success!!! Too many coaches today, only play the names of the county and the best sit the bench. Thank goodness for someone with character, morals and values in todays coaches. I think he would be a dandy for White Co, but, I don't think White Co would stand up for him playing the best. A lot of those people only want their kid to play and the results don't matter as long as they play. You know, it's always someone else's fault not my kid, kind of attitude, by some.
  11. I hear they have had a bunch of people applying. Cannon Co is one, and some other names from surrounding counties, but those didn't want it to be know as of right now. So it will be interesting.....
  12. Hey wilson25 - boy are you right!!! Cookeville should have stayed home! They well drilled! And, I was surprised with Rhea Co getting beat so easy. But, that just shows you how much better the Chattanooga District is than the 6AAA District. The competition is tough, the players are tough, the coaches are smart and they know how to score runs and how to use their pitchers pitches. This sad little District 6AAA is just that, sad. The competition is horrible, the players are babies and the coaches, well, their are really only a couple of really good ones - Rhea Co., Cookeville and Stone are the cream of the crop here. Congratulations to Walker Valley and Ooltewah! Should be a dandy of a Championship Game!!! Good Luck to two really good teams - I hope you all take all the others down!!!!!
  13. Yes, ryan665, I agree. Cookeville is a very good team. I just didn't mention them because I was trying to let pioneers12 know about Rhea County. I believe Cookeville and Rhea Co. will represent us very good. Both need to be on top of their game and I believe they will be. Cookevilles pitcher is a dandy and so is Rhea Counties. Both are very good defensively and hard hitting. It will come down to limits the errors and hopefully who can keep those big bats from ripping the ball.
  14. Rhea Co. is pretty tough! They have a real good freshman pitcher. Good speed but lots of movement on the ball. Good screwball. And their center fielder is one of the best I have seen. Their slappers can soft slap and hard slap. Fast as lightning! Coaching is superb. They will run and hustle and hustle some more. Very hard hitting team. They have played the Chattanooga teams all year. Hope they can take it home!!!!!
  15. Good luck to Rhea Co and Cookeville!!! As ryan665 said it: Represent District 6AAA!!!
  16. I'm sure your kid deserve all conference! Warren Co had some real tough hitters and played good defense. I have no issue with Warren Co picks. I want to Congratulate Rhea Co for becoming District Champions tonight - they played very good. Their hustle and determination were key!!! They were the better team three of four times we played them.
  17. How ya doin ryan665! Don't get me wrong, I will speak my mind - I am not trying to talk about other kids, but doggone it, some of them are so lazy and have pathetic attitudes, I get sick of going to my kids games, just because of the other kids. I will not use names, and if someone gets their feelings hurt because something is mentioned about coaches who do not have the guts to stand up for what needs to be done to a lazy bum kid then thats how it is. As I say, grow a pair..... And for one of our kids that has batted over 500 for the regular season to not get an All District nod, and for another one off a team that has won 3 games, never gotten a hit in the 6 games I watched and have 14 runs scored on them on the mound, then somebody in the coaching ranks needs to watch a game because that is pathetic. As for tonights games, Rhea Co took us down last night, so we have to play ball tonight and hope for a rematch against Rhea.
  18. Just read - Bryan Haley from Sparta just resigned his position as Head Coach at White Co. High School. He had been the head coach for 11 years. This is very interesting and could be a real good job for someone. White County has been known over the years for basketball. Lot of talent there. That county eats and breathes basketball.
  19. Looks like I am the only one posting on this site for this district. I guess no one else has the guts to really say what they think....... This is a poor district all around, except for Cookeville and Rhea County, to be honest. No other team would be able to compete in the region except for these two. So I don't see anyone winning but one of these. Heard this district chose Conference All Season Players. Not sure how anyone off of the Stone, Cumberland and White Co teams received any award unless their coaches chose them, because believe me, nobody off a team that won only 1 game, or three games in this district deserved any award. It is ashame a player from Cookeville, Rhea, and Warren didn't make the All Season award to just give one to a player who does not deserve it. Looks like we have settled to just give trophies to everyone who plays like they do for children who are 5 and 6. So as long as we hand a trophy to a kid or recognize a kid for making 30 errors over the season, or beating the last place team, or batting 200, or having 15 runs scored on you, we will continue to tell these girls it is ok to play like crap because they do not have to perform to a higher level as long as we have those coaches who choose players for honors they do not deserve. Cookeville and Rhea Co and Warren Co could have filled every spot on the All Conference Regular Season team and maybe those others coaches could have realized they need to do something different to congratulate their team for pitiful play.
  20. Whew, we barely got by today in tourney. We beat Stone 3-2 in a well played game, at least by Stone. They had it won until we got lucky with a couple errors. Stone deserved to win this one, but we slipped by. Now we get to play Rhea Co on Monday.
  21. Well, I just watched the first game of the tourney, and after boredom set in, I was ready to go back home. Stone played White Co and White Co should have just stayed home. This was a ridiculous one sided game. White Co started out bad, with five errors in the field. So they were behind before their pitcher could get warm, 5-2. After White Co changed pitchers, the cannons started for Stone. They had their way with this pitcher scoring the next 13 runs in a rout of White Co 18-7. This White Co team was lazy and a lot of them had bad attitudes and it wasted my time and money to come watch them play! A poor game. I left and went to eat,
  22. Regular season wrapped up! Bring on Tourney! Going down to Rhea County for the tournament..... We just got a wake up call from Rhea Co with our first loss in the District, but we are awake now and spanked them hard last night 8-0. So we have the Regular Season Championship because we beat them by more runs than they beat us. As far as I know the way the District finished is: Cookeville 9-1 Rhea Co 9-1 Warren Co 5-5 White Co 3-7 Stone 3-7 Cumberland Co 1-9 If I am wrong, please let me know! Games start tonight and I am ready for a good tourney. I think we have a pretty good chance in the region with Cookeville and Rhea Co representing.
  23. Hey wrongway! Sorry you all didn't take down Rhea County. That would have been big for us as well. You know Rhea be us for our first loss of the season, 5-6 in ten innings. We will play them again tonight and hope we can take them down by more than one run for the tie-breaker. I have to admit, you all had a good season and did better than many predicted. I can't believe you all were picked to finish last - with your hitters and that pitcher. Your pitcher has a great change up and you have some big time hitters. Looks like the coach has done a good job to come in and get those kids focused and ready to play. The tourney starts on Friday! What are your thoughts? I mean, I think it will come down to Rhea Co and Cookeville, but anybody can be beat on a given night - it will be hard for those two teams to be beat twice without a fight. Warren will probably be the next team to fight and not give up. I don't see any of the others, Cumberland, Stone and White doing anything in the tournament. Probably two and done! Would like to hear others opinions - no one has really done any talking this year. Come on 6AAA!
  24. How ya doing, wrongway? We will talk tomorrow. Don't want to jinx anyone on this one, this is a huge matchup - after all, Rhea Co. just beat Cookeville and Stone beat Warren Co!
  25. Go Cavs!!! We just slapped Sparta last night 8-0. We didn't hit very well but they had quiet a few errors and they are awful when it comes to hitting. Not sure what the umpire was watching behind the plate, but unreal what these two pitchers were facing. He would not give an outside pitch to either pitcher. Cookeville's pitcher probably had 15 pitches that should have been called strikes and Sparta's pitcher probably had 25 that should have been called strikes. I was right behind the plate and not real sure what umpire was watching. Just awful these two rivals had to play under those conditions. Cookeville is the better team, but still awful. To be fair, Sparta had three starters out and a couple of the replacements struggled. Looks like this District is Cookeville's and Rhea County's. Should be a good final in the the Tournament!!!
