Damon Smith grew up Ada, Oklahoma and has been involved in wrestling as an athlete, coach, and mentor for many years. Smith was a four-time Okla. state qualifier finishing 3rd as a senior at 136 pounds in 1993. Smith was a represented the state of Oklahoma as a member of the 1993 junior Olympic freestyle/ Greco team and finished high school with a career record of 132-20. Damon then attended Oklahoma State University on a wrestling scholarship and was part of the 1994 NCAA national championship team as a redshirt. This team was coached by world champion John Smith and led by the 1st 4-time NCAA National champion Pat Smith. Damon has learned from many great technicians over the years and he brought his talents to Father Ryan High School from 2007-2013 where he helped lead the Irish to 4 team state championships and helped coach 17 individual TSSAA State Champions as the assistant coach for the Irish. His specialties include low- level singles, high crotches, set-ups, getting off the bottom, cross body rides, duck unders, arm bar series and hip pressure and more.
