  1. uh hem. As a student in the student section, standing for 3 1/2 hours as stated earlier is a hard thing to do . As for me, I yell and scream during the girls games, (and the guys jv games because i love central basketball and every home game i am there from 430- on), but i will not yell as much as i do for the boys game. For me, girls games are just a little harder to get into then the guys game. PLus out student sections has been horrible the last couple of games and i cant figure out why less and less students are showing up.

You don't have to stand up to cheer for your team. I personally saw a dad from the girls team come to the rail at TN High near the end of the game to get you guys to cheer for the girls. You guys just made fun of him instead of cheering fo YOUR team. By the way The General is most likely the reason that there are less students at the game. She won't let you guys yell hardly at all but she'll throw you out for no apparent reason.

  2. I will have to agree with you. They are doing an outstanding job this year. I know the whole student section does not stand and cheer for them, but I do watch their game and clap for them. We have a very talented girls team and I would not trade any of them for another team. I can not, however, speak on behalf of the student section. Standing up for 3 or 3 1/2 hours may be a long time to stand, but i dont see a problem for cheering for them in a close game, such as the one tonight.

I don't know who the leader of the group is, but maybe you need to speak to them on this subject. Thanks for being honest about it also. I was just amazed at how the group did Fri. at TN High when we beat the no 1 team in the conference. You guys do a GREAT job during the boys games and I applaud you for that but give the girls a little respect also. Enough about that Good job tonight Cougars and keep it up.

  3. Yes, i know this is not about student sections, but i would love to cheer for DB, and i actually feel sorry for their team knowing that their students sit down the whole time, more than most not even looking up to see if they have the ball or not. I cheer for Central, despite the good and the bad times, but at DB, its more good than bad period. Cheer for your team and show some spirit!

You need to read what you wrote in this post. IF you are going to cheer for your school then WHY can't you cheer for the Lady Cougars also? They have beaten South,DB, TN. High and lost by 3 to Boone tonight. You guys didn't cheer at all for them at any of these games. They beat TN. High at Tn. High and you all were down there sitting down not cheering at all. If you truly

have school spirit then cheer for both teams. I'm sure most of these girls come to football games and cheer for you guys so you need to return the favor, if you are Cougarnation.

  4. Hot games on tap tonight....................

Central's shooters can get hot, but will it be enough to fight off the Lady Rebel attack? Probably not.

The lady cougars have been playing really well lately. Congratulations on thier BIG win against South. Also Congratulations to #20 for 1000 pts. She's a player and also only a jr. Keep it up through the District girls.

  5. Stokomo... If you can get Washington County out of Waco, then what can we get out of Stok..... hmmmm?? And what does churlish mean?

About the Freshman @ Central, stick to Basketball unless you switch schools, it won't matter how good you are in football at Central, nobody will ever know. He is a really good basketball player.

Any good Conference games this week? DB plays Cherokee Tue. (I hate that) when does Science Hill go to East?

    Roll Tribe Roll

    Central at East Tues.

    Central home Fri. vs South

  6. Those 3 clowns reffing the game at Central had no clue what basketball calls and fouls are. I could tell they were clowns by the big floppy red shoes they wore and 1 of them had a flower on his lapel that shot a squirt of water. /flower.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":flower:" border="0" alt="flower.gif" />

    Roll Tribe Roll

That's pretty bad when you WIN and still complain about the refs. Why don't YOU don the stripes and give it a try???????? We'll set in the stands and judge how you do. But about the game, Central held all the trees to under 10 pts but they hurt us on the boards. DB shot pretty good too. But with that said, the Cougars are playing much better than earlier in the year. Good Luck to Both teams the rest of the way.

  7. I'm wrong THIS is the LONGEST sentence in history. /roflolk.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflolk:" border="0" alt="roflolk.gif" />

It's getting close to game tme Vikefan33, I'm predicting the Cougars to be Victorious tonight. Hope to see you there, but either Hope all the Big 9 fans a Very Merry Christmas and Wonderous New Year. That wasn't very long sentences, it must be the Sullivan County Education. HAHA

  8. Yea that is off topic but I agree. I was at the THS, East game and it looked like THS couldn't call out their plays because the place was so loud. I haven't seen many student sections around here get as loud as East's students did that night.

Maybe you need to come to the Cougar Den Friday night and see for yourself the Best Student section in Big 9. East didn't bring many students to the den and I don't suspect TN High will either. Come see it for yourself, 7:30 pm.

As for what happened at Volunteer, I agree with "the general" that sounds a little excessive to me. Students should not be allowed to yell profanity or have profanity written on thier shirts or chest or whatever. And for a parent to post about it like he encouraged it... not much of a role model are you????

"hubmaster" Get a life, the Greeneville deal was years ago, talk about something this year, if u can.

  9. im gonna have to argue with the earlier statement made. though this has nothing to do with the actual game, i think volunteer has the best student section. we always bring a ton of students, home or away. DB has probably the most pitiful away game fan support i've ever seen. Volunteer's student section is, and will be, without most of its patrons after the cherokee game. Many of which are now banned from all the basketball games. Which is a shame.

We haven't played Volunteer yet, but I can't see you having the best student section when you have none there. Haven't heard what happened in the Cherokee game but it sounds like too much. I also agree with some other posters, as long as the kids are not saying bad things or throwing anything, the administrators should LEAVE THEM ALONE.I think most fans enjoy the students yelling back and forth at each other during timeouts and the cheerleaders also. As long as everything is clean. As for standing the whole game, as long as it's not blocking anyone elses view, I don't see a problem with it. Sometimes fans will have to move to another seat if the student section is in the way. If the students can't yell for thier school and stand if they want to, they will just quit coming to games thus the schools will lose money. Think about it administrators.

  10. I agree, what's your prediction on TH at Central this coming Fri? The Cougars have been playing alot better lately, not being selfish and working it inside and out. You can't forget about the Cougar Nation in the stands either, they are arguably the best student section in Big 9. Let's hear your thoughts and not your bashings.

  11. I really don't understand the complaining. I would love to argue about which one of Central's teams is better, and who should start and how you have 4 great post players who is the best out of all of them. Sounds like a pretty good problem to have. Some of you all gotta be careful, this kind of stuff can split a team apart.

Also,Cap,in an earlier post you said the "Road Warriors" of DB won district. Not so,that was the Central year, then DB came back and beat us in regionals.

With the exception of DB And Science Hill,I would like to know who people think will get the 3 seed. At the beginning of the year I figured TN High, but now it seems like a team like East or Volunteer might sneak in there. I know its early, and I think East and Volunteer may be peaking too soon, but what does everyone else think?

Db and East are tied with 1.7 secs left DB has the ball. 64-64 Isaac Snapp has fouled out with 19 points. I don't know much about the 02-03 team, but the 07-08 team is loaded. Some of DB fans have just been ejected from the East Gym. Dustin McConnell hits a 12 footer to win 66-64.

  12. So Mr. Blackjack,if Blountville players can outplay Holston players, but Holston players still compete with Blountville year in and year out in middle school basketball, what does that mean about the coaching?

Blountville has more athletes year in and year out,if Blountville played Holston in pickup ball they would kill Holston, but when you get them during the season when they are both being coached, its a good game everytime. Something must affect that.

Also,Harrison does not have knuckleheads playing for him,I am not saying Fox does, but Coach Harrison does not have troublemakers on his team that don't make the grades. Get your facts straight or see the man coach and how hard his players want to play for him before you get on here making comments like the one you made.

I agree with you "fearless1" but I also have a question for BlackJoke 54 Did you graduate from Sullivan North in the 80's? Just wandering.

  13. TODAYS GAMES

    Volunteer 67 Cherokee 55

Science Hill 76 Daniel Boone 55

Sullivan East 73 David Crockett 56

Sullivan South 65 Sullivan South 61

Dobyns Bennett 61 Tennessee High 58

    [/quote /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />

Interesting game between SS and SS. Just Kidding dude, just wanted to see which Sullivan team you did pick though, the cougars or the rebels. If the Cougars don't start shooting the ball better and working it down low, I know which one I'd pick. Not a good shooting night last night at Greeneville. Albright played a great game but noone else stepped up. : /hungry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hungry:" border="0" alt="hungry.gif" />

  14. Blackjack54 "On the team/bench and on the floor are two entirely different things futurecougardad. It's my opinion that the boys from Blountville can outplay the Holston boys at the high school level. "

My point exactly Jack out of the 10-11 players that are ON THE COURT for Central, 4 are from Blountville, the other 7 are from Holston. You're going to be hardpressed to win this debate.

  15. I think the Cougars are just THAT BAD. Not much talent or depth there this year. I think it was you Cap who said they're on the downhill slide after 04. I concur. Nothing coming from the middle schools either and the coaching at one of them is a joke. Fox is outstanding and an excellent basketball teacher. The other guy..............well...........no comment. I imagine Central will be much quieter this year. Give their fans time to "reflect". LOL

Blackjack54 I would like to ask you what facts you base this quote on? Nothing against Fox, but in the last few years, how many Area 1 State Championships has he won? How many has Harrison won at Holston? Do you know how many of the 15 players on the Varsity squad at Central are from Blountville? 5 is the answer. The other 10 are from Holston. Harrison won Back to Back Championships with the Junior and Seniors on the team now. So how can you not comment on his coaching ability? Maybe your son didn't make his team one year or better yet, maybe he outplayed you in High School and you still hold a grudge. Anyways Coach Harrison is a great coach and if given a chance at Central he would do a great job there also. Coach Vaughn stil has a few years left and he does have a young team now, but wait until tourney time and see what happens. I'm not saying they'll win the conference tourney or anything but they will surprise some teams. As far as DB and the Hill...... Noone will touch them up here. DB is talented 1-10. Most of which are underclassmen /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=" The Hill also has alot of talent. The rest of the big 9 is up for grabs. Central let one slip by last night but hopefully they can build off it.
