Smith County lost a big senior class and next year is a very small senior class. Return King who in my opinion is top three athlete in region. Another one to watch is shepperson who is a beast as a sophmore in basketball this year. He will probably be a Def end about 6'2 170. Line continues to improve. QB back. We was very lucky to get Holder transfer in last year. RB is a big question in my book....Maybe King in the backfield???
-
Would like to have seen Holder with 4 chances instead of trying to throw? Hats off to Holder this year that young man was a difference maker this year.
-
Poor DC WR'S been the kick dog all year long. The 2 games I have watched your QB made just as many mistakes with interceptions, bad throws and reads. It's a team sport and usually the best team wins. Good luck to DC.
-
In 3 year period we had Gentry, Tackett and Hackett. The point is people from other schools start calling for our coaches heads when they have not went through all the coaching change, difficult schedule Maynord left, massive injuries, etc and have no better win loss record. If your a SC fan I have no problem with some of those issues they are valid.
-
I like DC/ UCM calling for coaches head and while
Not up to SC standards we are very close to .500 over a 3 year period. DC coach will get coach of the year and your all star player will get all the awards while being a mediocre .500 and 0-2 in playoffs for past 3 years. At least we have massive injuries and 3 offensive coordinators to blame....lol
-
Some say Holder is out for good. Other talk is he is back Friday. If he is back and we can get the ball to King it will be a good game. If not....it may not be a good game.
-
Stone coach showed some class by not scoring on last drive inside 10 and took a few knees. Holder being out really hurts SC. The York game will be big.
-
Congrats to DC on the win but Antwan is right Holder getting hurt was a game changer. If SC had made a couple
Plays at the end the talk would have been the 2 interceptions killed DC.
-
Jennings won that game. It's a team effort but man if it wasn't for Jennings I'm not sure how that one turns out. He was offensive MVP obviously, but on defense after the fumble on SC's last drive the SC player had nothing but green and Jennings chased him down and tackled him to prevent the tie. Then he comes up with an int on that same drive.

DC is barely .500 in the last 2 years and 0-2 in playoffs getting beat both games by 35 plus points. Some from DC have said it but until DC commits to some balance on offense the same results will continue.
-
If UH loses 7 starters by game 6 they won't make the playoff either. UH lost 1 LB and you started making excuses. Your right CC loss was bad but we still beat UH last year starting a 4th string RB with 4 starters out,
-
I don't guess having toughest schedule in district, losing 7 starters by game 6 or multiple coaching changes should be considered last year UCM? SC just folded. They will probably fold this week to playing LA not because LA has twice the students but because SC has no heart...funny

UH and DC will give Seq trouble because they throw better. I think Seq knew they had been in a football game when they left the hole but hats off to them for a good game.
-
Hats off to Seq. they played a good game. We had opportunities on a fumble and good field position all night and just made to many mistakes. King is our best player and he has to be put into position to get more touches.
-
Congratulations to the Owls on the win. Defense is playing better than offense. We have to get Kimg the ball more. He is the playmaker on the team. We only won 3 games last year but still hung 30 plus points on a better Gordonsville team! Only 17 tonight on a very average 1A team.

I agree game is usually a battle. Last year SC wins easily with starters not even playing in the 4th quarter. Both teams had injuries in that game. This SC team is heavy senior, healthy and Gville is young and not very good according to their fans I have talked to. SC should win easily.
-
Smith County's Holder will run wild on his old team plus Gville does not have anyone who can catch King.... just ask Macon! SC by 28. I predict York will beat WC in a close one. I still say Cookeville rolls LA.....Uncle Jimmy always has their number.
-
SC 20 -MC 14. Good win for SC we did not play well at all first half. King may be best player in district. I am not sure we score without him. Congrats to Owls.
-
I believe SC wins at Macon by the hard running of the new tail back # 5. SC- 20 Macon- 14. Cookeville basically has the same team as last year with another year of Maynard's system and the Cookeville Defensive Coordinator is really good....hate we lost him he should be a head coach somewhere. Cookeville wins easily.
-
Agree somewhat with UCM on the UH/LA and SC/JC jamboree. Linder was best athlete on the field in all games. I thought LA not as good as last year but best out of the four teams. SC got a very good transfer in tail back #5 from Gordonsville. Do not understand the comment about balanced offence, SC ran the ball 90% of the plays. Overall I do not think UH is as good as some of the posts have commented. SC has some good pieces to have a respectable year. They don't have 2 automatic losses with Alcoa and Cookeville and a stable of better running backs. The King kid is a game changer if he stays healthy. I predict the Cookeville/LA and the Cookeville/UH game will be ugly with Cookeville winning both easily.
-
I agree with DCTIGERFAN that if SC wins less than 5 games with this heavy senior squad and easier schedule there will be people calling for coach's head. A healthy team last year beat Gordonsville, UHS, and York. Everyone keeps talking about CC loss but we had a bunch of starters out and I remember one of the coaches saying we dropped 7 first down passes and 2 TD passes. Just one of those games the WR's could not catch a cold and line was mainly JV so no run game. Same thing at Macon...winning TD pass dropped last drive, Warren County loss was coaching error. Coach Maynord knew our line was going to be down a couple years and to put Alcoa and Cookeville on our schedule was settting us up to fail. I think other than a repeated severe injury season there is no reason SC does not win at least 6 games.

Talked with a player today for Smith County about their scrimmage Friday. It was SC, White Co, Trousdale, & Tullahoma. Smith beat White Co and Trousdale and lost to Tullahoma. Most people believe they are improved at line, large senior class, schedule easier (no Alcoa or Cookeville) lots of talent in skill positions. QB is question? Very small but has played position all his life. Some feel King (WR) is best for position if given a chance. Last years team was much better than their record. No injuries, heavy senior team and much easier schedule could equal SC is back!

I have noticed if its a team he like or players he likes they get bigger ever time UCM posts. If he had stood by these players he would know that what they are reporting is false. Eldridge is 6'3" maybe 205, Hollars is 6'1" maybe 160 and qualls is 5'7" maybe 145 (being generous) oldballcoach knows what he speaks of! Good players and I am not taking anything away from any of them, they are just not as big as reported. We had a Winningham boy here (good player) at SC a couple years ago and transferred to LA when he was here he was 5'7" 145 lbs but the short drive to LA he jumped to 5'10 -180 on their roster.

Smith County scrimmaged White House Friday night and held their own. We had more team speed but thought it was not one of the better White House teams I have seen. Defense looked a little ahead of offense. We have to establish a true tailback, stay healthy, and get the ball to King much more in my opinion. Lots of players playing both ways and injuries will be key.
