  1. I will answer for him. There were things I wasn't sure about with Coach Moore, but I wasn't going to publically bash him on a forum. Once a pirate always a pirate and I'm going to always support whoever is in charge.

There was things you wasn't sure about? Really? What could you not be sure about? Facts are facts... When the program is clearly going in the wrong direction, people are free to speak their minds. There are plenty of us on here once a pirate always a pirate so I'm not even sure why that has to be said.

  2. You kinfolkes better realize..."The Captain Is Back" lots of talent walking the halls, throw in a potential stud or two that seldom played due to not caring, lazy or what ever plus a player here and there that wants to play for the Captain makes for a potentially dangerous recipe for challengers! Plus with coach Danny heading up the jr high adds another element that will pay off in the near future. He'll certainly get SP kids back in the fold. It's hilarious you made mention of help after you fellers boasted about getting help from SP youngons this year!

Didnt you laugh when I told you Grider would be coming back?

I mean to hear you tell it Moore was the best thing since sliced bread...

Now there is all Grider worshipping going on, I'm confused...lol

  3. That is correct. We have local teams that have 10 times the athletes SP has and they can't win. Athletes help for sure, but it takes a coach that works at it and puts those guys in positions to be successful as well.

Exactly what I was saying about Coach Moore and why he needed to go, be cause he wasn't even remotely doing that..

  4. Announcement tomorrow. Retirement didn't last long.

You mean to tell me that I was actually right? Wow...Lol!! I guess I need to go with "Old Pirate" gambling since my guess from several threads ago was actually right. Or maybe I'm in the "know" as some people put it...lol Or maybe just maybe it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure stuff out?

I mean what do I know, but I did stay in a Holiday Inn last night.

  5. tough situation to be put in. Resign because you let the parents win and you will always look like the coach that couldn't make it at SP, or get fired and then put the same quote in the paper that the program is going on a different direction than what he wanted. Just saying, tuck your tail and let outsiders win, or stand proud for what you believe and make them fire you. Same attitude of "go with the flow" and not have a backbone is what was seen on the field as a coach. I know it hurts some, but I am entitled to my opinion. I'm not bashing, just stating my opinion. Maybe his hands were tied more than we know. I mean, all this did happen after Grider left. Ultimately Grider is still in control of the SP athletic tradition being he is the athletic director. I don't believe Vic would allow this to continue. Maybe I'm a fool too though.

Did anybody on here say you wasn't entitled to your opinion?? Surely not. I mean if you tell them what they don't want to hear your considered a trouble maker. Maybe I need some of all the vast wisdom and knowledge on here to explain it to me, on how telling the truth is being a trouble maker?

I guess I'm suppose to be politically correct and stand by and give slaps on the back for mediocrity, and pray it will turn around when we all know deep down inside its time to go another direction.

  6. I believe I said it a little before you did. A quote from Moore, "I resigned today because of differences in the future direction of the program." Sounds eerily similar to what coach Ross said when he resigned. That should tell sp fans all they need to know. Maybe the best thing for sp will be for Vic to take the ridgeland job. May have his hand too deep in the cookie jar at sp. Let's see if this hire is better. Good luck sp, I think that sp is still an enticing job, especially with the new district, the new coach will come in and look like a savior. Sp should be able to make a solid hire.

Well you may have said it on CoachT before me, because I was waiting for the season to end, but I was saying it long before I posted on CoachT

  7. take what I say how anyone wants. There is a part of me that thinks many MC fans would love to see SP stay down. Good reason I guess. If you go back and read everyone's post about Coach Moore, "he is a class act" or "he is a great guy". Well I have been told the same in my lifetime, but I know I wouldn't make a great coach of a small 1a high school team. Most all like the guy and most all thinks he can get the emotions of the fans and kids kept low enough for him to do his job. Problem appeared to be lack of leadership in other areas other than just controlling your emotions. And many think he controlled his emotions a little too much. Whatever has happened has happened. He was in a tough situation and handled it the best way he knew how. Maybe it was not enough leadership by his assistant coaches that led to this??? Either way glad to see him stay and teach since he is an alumni. I think the next coach will be ready

    +1

  8. The program will contend for Region 3 1A championships every season. I think that's doing a very good job. A lot of schools would love to have a top shelf coach like Moore coaching them.

I'm not going to argue good coach or bad coach with you. But as far as SP is concerned, its time to move forward with a different direction. If you don't have the respect of players or fans no matter if you think its fair or not. Its time to walk the plank..

  9. LOPAO.....SP don't either according to the other thread! With 6 returners, 14-15 jr high players in 7-8 grade will SP be forced to allow future skillet slingers to play like Picket County and have a skillet slinger as coach?

All I'm saying is how can you say we are going to get beat by a team when they don't even know who the coach will be. I mean lets be honest here, how many times in the last several years have they beaten us?? I rest my case. On top of the fact how many coaches have they had over the course of the last 10 years? And how has that worked out for them? Enough said..
  10. I read your earlier posts. The people you named probably will never coach at SP again. One left, one came back and one coach's golf. I don't know if any of those would even be interested in being the head coach at SP. There isn't an opening anyway so no need in talking about it. Last time I checked, Coach Moore was still the coach.

Be patient change is coming, and

  12. As far as the cancer that has developed, your right it needs to be dealt with. And your right probably nobody has stepped up and said anything.

You going to be that person? I mean I've seen several who want to do something about it. But one person can't do it alone. That will never work. We are all going to have to come together to get this fixed.

Ill say this one last time. My hand....my mouth....my opinion is there to be used, but we will never make a difference one at a time.

It has to be a group effort.

  13. Old Pirate as I have said I respect your opinion, and you make a lot of sense. But maybe I should put it another way. Tim is not the right head coach for Sp. He has lost the respect of the players, parents, and the majority of the fans, and that is the facts.

You refer to past titles won by Tim. That is great that's wonderful. But KC won titles, and look at him now? Cant get it done and people hate him because he wont change with the times. I mean there just comes a time when you can't get it done.

All Coaches face it at one time or another. Unfortunately for Tim he isn't removed like college or pro coaches. When the majority lose respect for you...when then stands have less and less people in them, its time for a change.

We don't have the luxury of time at this point. So better to cut your losses now, and go a different direction.

  14. Old Pirate never suggested getting rid of anyone! The suggestion regarding coaching is acquire the services of 1 or 2 coaches/teachers that connect with elementary, little league, jr high and high school kids. This isn't a problem that has one head, Tim is a good coach

Old Pirate I respect your insight and I agree with almost everything you are saying. Tim is a good guy, but not a good coach.

I've expressed this many times, times have changed. The old school way of teaching and coaching is gone. You can't treat them like the ways of old. Colquitt he is a good coach, he knows the game, but his time has also passed because he doesn't understand that the way we motivate our kids to do the right thing has changed dramatically.

And you again can thank your government, and their ways to tell everyone they are entitled now, they don't have to work for it. Your not allowed to get in their face and holler and scream, and cuss and carry on, you just can't do it. I have learned this over the course of almost 15 years of being a coach, an official, and as a parent. Things have changes, and we can ignore it all we want to, but these are facts.

I will give you an example of what I'm talking about as far as old school way of coaching. If Wes Stone was still on the sideline do you think for one minute if he pulled off a good play, he could be told to show no emotion? I think not. So if your a coach and can show no emotion, and players aren't allowed to show emotion, how does this work? I mean I just can't comprehend showing no emotion???

How can you tell a bunch of kids not to cheer on their teammates? I mean this past Friday night was the first game all season I have seen our boys excited or trying to motivate us to be excited all year. This is just one particular old school way of doing things and It doesn't and will not work.

Secondly...I agree momma's shouldn't be allowed to confront a coach, they should ask for an appointment with Coach Wilson, as they did today, and voice their concerns. But, why did this happen honestly? We both know there was one or two people who voiced there concerns this year, and unfortunately they was heard, and Wes ended up being railroaded out of a job. Again this should have been brought to Danny's attention, and maybe it was and I'm not aware of it, but it should never go to the school super. It should've been dealt with internally. Yeah you solved your personal issue with him, and got him gone, but did that really help? All it has done now is divide the community, because I'm pretty sure I speak for the majority, this should've never happened.

All this did was open Pandora's box, and now you have everyone thinking they have a voice. Momma's voicing and confronting coaches? Yes momma's have a right to take up for their son, but it should be handled professionally and maturely. This is wrong and shouldn't happen, it doesn't matter if he is a good coach or a bad coach.

In closing I respect the fact you want to see some changes before the cancer grows and gets out of control. I am also extending an invitation, that if we need helping stopping this cancer I will be at the front of the line.
