I believe he might have scored,  maybe a couple. He is electric.  He would have took some hard hits running the ball all night though.

I feel we overuse and run our QB too much. We were up 20 with less than 10 minutes to go and it was obvious the game plan looked like run the ball and clock then punt it. Our QB took several big hits late in that game. I know the staff wants the ball in his hands and trust him but we got some other solid backs and reliable players.

It's risky running your QB 30 times a game. That's what we do.  Think he had 28 carries for around 125 or something like that. I'm sure its same for you. Our guy takes a beating every week.

I was surprised he was still running it too. He took some shots that turned him complete flips. He is a stud but you shouldn't be taking those shots when the game is in hand.

It depends on who we play. You haven't seen us in a couple years. Teams that throw it against us have a lot more success. It looked like 75% of Marion's formations against us they lined up 11 on the line on offense.  They didn't even put any guys out wide or spread us out or show us any threat of a pass.

We run into an improved or determined Tyner or if H20 has more diversity of offense it's a coin toss or if Taye is back and healthy.

I watched several of your guys games. He is a major difference maker. His ability to break a big play or two could be a big factor in a low scoring game.

I wouldn't count Marion County out just yet.

I do feel our fellas our the favorites with their experience and hunger and talent. That's a deadly combination.

But throw in playoff football, weather, injuries, refs, penalties, turnovers, etc.

It's going to be fun couple of weeks

Good luck to all the region 3 teams in the playoffs

I saw the Tyner game and wondered if Marion might try to throw some of the quick outs like Tyner was successful with. We just line up and run. We have a few pass plays out of the formation (the dropped TD was one of them). If Taye can't play we won't make it past 2nd round.

He did say he would've scored if he hadn't got tripped up and hurt on that 2nd play. Hopefully he can play and at least finish out his career giving it his all. I would hope that for any kid.

Good luck to all Region 3 teams

I have said that the game was closer than the score but now for a couple days Marion County has been saying how they played the worst game they could have played.

Meigs made a lot of mistakes also. Our first possession we drove it down to the one or two yard line on first down and should have easily punched that in. Marion County's Defense stood up right there thanks in part to our play calling but your guys held us and got the ball back for your offense who strung together some nice runs.

Meigs outplayed Marion. They were busting through the line. #8 Ben Smith saw that sweep going to # 8 on 3rd and 8 I think it was and hit him in the backfield for a roughly 7 or 8 yard loss. He had no chance. That it's how most of the game played out.  I had said these seniors # 1,2,3, 8, 15, 19, 26, 77 were going to show up. Im probably missing several more key contributors. They do every week. This Meigs team more balanced all around.

Meigs could have also added another score or two possibly. As easily as you say it could have been one way it could have been the other. Meigs could have won 34 to 0.meigs was content with running clock and punting fourth quarter.

Total yards Meigs 270 I think and Marion around 130.

Marion only got over midfield one time entire game folks. Furthest they got was the 27 yard line.

    # 8 for Meigs is special. That kid is all business. He just wants to hit somebody.

With Taye they are different animal. It would have been a different game wit hi.. running the ball. Maybe Marion even pulls out the W but all that worst game they played nonsense is a little stretch. Meigs was the reason for that.

That's what I said in an earlier post. That was the worst performance I've seen all year. Meigs had a lot to do with it though. Just too many mistakes early coupled with Taye getting hurt put us behind the 8 ball. I believe Taye makes a difference in the game but I can't say we win if he's healthy. Meigs should represent the East easily.

That is what losses usually do, figure out what you need to do better.  We played as poorly as we could have friday and lost by 3 scores.  If we are 100% I would bet that score might be a little closer, if not then we have no shot, we will be able to tell the next week or so.

Our first series was as bad as you could ask for. Qb breaks loose and a shoestring tackle with an injury hampers him for the rest of the game. Drop a TD pass and then fumble the snap on a punt at midfield. I'm skeptical that Taye will be ok going forward.

Sounds like this was a good ole fashioned whipping went down in Marion last night.  I missed the game but talked to my buddy who was there. I believe Meigs is the real deal.  With home field they will be tough to oust.  That coaching staff has build a monster across the river!

Lol it was. You guys would certainly know what a whipping was

That was rough to lose that game. Rockwood went on to barely lose to Tyner who went to state  championship and lost to Union city by one score.

Losing Aaron Swafford was heart breaking as a Tiger fan. Especially how it went down that game.

I believe if he stays in that game we win by 3 scores at least and go on to bring home the title that year.

    You may be right

I try to encourage are kids to dream big and show them stories from small town kids doing well for themselves. It's just so hard for them to dream that into realization.

Like you had mentioned. It takes a lot more than being a great athlete.  You got to want it with all you got. You got to have the right mind set. You got to have the heart. The grades. The connections.  And people pushing you and caring about you.

Sometimes you don't and a kid will still succeed on their on. Those kids are really special.

I'm beginning to like you Marion County fellas.

You all did put on a great show last night. Those fireworks was nice. The horn was a little annoying but I get it.

Everyone I met and talked to was also very cool.

It was a great atmosphere for sure. Sorry we didn't live up to it but our kids played hard till the end.

We didn't get to blow that horn as much as we like to but you guys were the reason for that lol.

Great news. I seen it and thought we are in trouble cause he was gone and we just got him by the shoelaces.

It looked liked an Achilles how he got up but he recovered to quickly for that.

    Good luck in the playoffs

That's exactly what I thought when I saw how his leg got pulled when he went down. We will see this Friday I guess.

Good luck to you guys as well.

This really doesnt have anything to do with on field play, but since its apparent with your position, history and responsibilties at TC, I have a question.  Do TC fans typically stand over near the locker room and taunt and curse at the opposing teams as they are coming on and off the field.  I wasn't going to bring this up, but that was pretty bad last night at the half, and what was worse was the rent-a-cops in police uniforms just stood there and the H20 coaching staff had to get in between the fans and players.  H20 players didnt say anything but really had no where to go.  I on the other hand was trying to find the bathroom.  LOL

Happened to Marion in 2014. Not sure about the other times we've been there. I try to not judge a fan base on a few obnoxious fans. We all have them. I've met some good people from TC.

Honestly don't we hear how good Tyner is every year?  And Tc wins easily!

Tyner is a better team than the past few years I believe, but I understand what you're saying. Marion always hears the same about Westmoreland when we play them but it's never really close. Of course it could be a different story this year. Who knows?

I just wanted you guys to know I wasn't being disrespectful. I always hate seeing a kid get hurt. I just didn't see anything that made me think he was hurt when I had asked. I sincerely hope he's ok.

Oh I know. No worries man. You couldn't ask for a better leader. He's been a huge part of the offense for 4 yrs and I know he was amped up for that game. Not saying we would have won of he's healthy but it would have been a better game. It's kinda like when we played Hampton a few yrs ago in the semis. Their qb got hurt early and tried to play on but couldn't. He was a stud. We won the game handily but if he had stayed in it would've been tight.

We'll know today the extent of his injury.

  12. 45 minutes ago, Yeti said:

Which is why I had asked if he was really hurt in our thread. He just didn't look hurt when on the field.

He jogged on and off but he never ran the ball. That's how most Marion fans know something was wrong. He was hurt on the 2nd play of the game. He is a gamer though. Hopefully he gets good news today. I hate for him to end his career like that.

I thought it would be closer myself. Marion missed an easy TD in first quarter receiver just dropped and that QB about got loose on two plays and got tripped up with one man to beat.

Marion looked good. Meigs mixed up enough passing and just pounded it and wanted it more. They fought for every inch and Ben and Logan were amazing tonight.

It could have been closer and I think if we play them or Tyner it could be different outcomes.

I think we could win by more against Tyner or get beat and same for Marion.

Dropping that TD didn't help but Taye getting hurt absolutely killed us. I'll have to disagree about looking good. That's the worst performance I've seen out of them all year. Meigs had a lot to do with it, but when your offense runs through the one player you can't afford to get hurt it changes a lot.

You guys played a lot better than that Tyner game. The qb was on a different level tonight.

  14. 1 minute ago, TheTruthPrevails said:

I have told multiple people that a key injury and we are mediocre, tonight proved that on offense.  Played about as bad as possible and we are on upset alert even next week.  Things will have to be changed and tough to do that this late.

We knew when he fell something wasn't right. Only ran one more time after that 2nd play. I hate it for him.. Would have been a better game with him healthy but it looked like Meigs wanted it more.

I will eat crow on this one. I said Marion by 14 and boy was I wrong. I traveled to this one and what I saw was a Meigs team that came out physical and hit Marion in the mouth and Marion didn't know how to respond. Out coached and out played. I seen adjustments be made in the 2nd half by Marion that should have been made in the 1st qt. I seen kids not wrapping up tackles land looking like we're afraid of contact. I think Marion will regroup and I still think they can make a run. I honestly hope to see this matchup again. On to next week.

Not so sure about a run. May have lost more than a game tonight unfortunately.
