  1. A quote from the Tyner HC in the Chattanooga paper:

"The speed of the game got to us," Rams first-year coach Scott Chandler said. "This was the best team we have seen this season, and I think there was a little bit of shock that set in with how physical they were up front and how quick they were."

Was hoping to make it tonight but life happens. Having talent is one thing, but if you don't have a HC to take advantage of it, the next 4 years won't be as good as it should. Seen it happen a couple of times down here. Hoping Dale plans on sticking around for a while.

Was it close or did Sequatchie control the game the whole time?

14-6 in 3rd qtr. Seq hit some big plays in 2nd half and Jasper had a turnover deep in their own territory. Seq had a better overall team. Warriors just couldn't stop the big plays and being down a few starters certainly didn't help. The late Anthony Martin's son will be good in high school as well as the qb Webb. Quite a few skill kids that will be a force in a few years for MC.

Sequatchie 36-20 over Jasper in 8th to go undefeated.

Good group coming up for Seq. Should be hard to handle in a few years. Warriors have quite a few skill kids I can't wait to get to high school to go with the line. I believe both teams will be in very good shape for the next few years.

I just wished for a day we can keep SP crap on our threads and Jaspers crap on theirs.  Just because I renewed my donation to Coacht Plus doesn’t mean I have to continue to put up with this crap.  Both teams have a great chance to make it to State.  Let us all be happy for kids and leave our own egos at the door.  Geeezsh!

That's why I don't get on sp boards. There's always going to be shots taken at each other.

Speed kills but can the speed handle the ground and pound. Turnover will be the key to this game.

Turnovers will be key I believe. Marion had the most speed last year and pretty much the same players this year plus 1.

  6. The fans in the Chatt area don't give Marion much of a chance. The paper has a poll with votes being 65% to 35% for Tyner. Hargis also has a Twitter poll that's about 60% to 40% Tyner. Hopefully we can make a game of it.

Should be a great night for football my man...

I saw a thread about greatest Harriman players earlier you commented on. If you did that for MC most of the locals would say Westmoreland based on his accomplishments in high school and college (3 State Championships and a National Championship at UT). A lot of the old hands would say Eddie Brown. All American and team captain at UT and 2 time Pro Bowler in the NFL. Played in a Super Bowl, 8 career interceptions and led the NFL in kick returns one year I believe. Not bad for a little school I would say. Who would your top 3 be? Saylors would be a good pick but Zeman would as well. Zeman could take over a game on offense or defense a lot of times.

#4 has surpassed #3 by miles. Injures or not. #4 has the heart for the game it's hard to say the same for #3. and it's been like that for years now. you've got to be with the team from the very start not jump on the bandwagon when it's time to hit and dress out on Friday nights. Basketball is his thing anyway.

Basketball is for sure. Maybe he gets healthy and is a big contributor the rest of the way. The talent is there to be a great back. Always has been.

The team hasn't missed #3. He doesn't have that type of impact on the team and won't be playing much.

#3 is a very good player and would have been a starter on defense if not for injuries. If I'm not mistaken he was ahead of #4 on depth chart on offense as well.

I'm leaning towards the Rams in this one. Sure is a lot easier to stack the box and stop the run game than it is to stop a spread team with a good qb and skill players. Hope I'm wrong but if MC doesn't come to play, we could get smacked in the mouth early and often.

Only thing wrong with stacking the box is if you get past that def line it's over. Also Taye has proven he can throw. Just haven't had to.

It's easy to do with teams that didn't bring home the gold. But I think they are worth mentioning for sure. If Pruitt stays I think we would have seen them face off against Alcoa 3 years in a row in 06, 07, & 08. Most talent MC had seen since the 90s. We squandered it with a very bad hire.

Depending on how this team performs for the remainder of the year, maybe Dale couldn't have gotten those teams to that point. The jury is still out but this upcoming Friday will be a very good indicator if we are at 100% going into the game. I'm in the camp of still feeling uneasy about the team.

I agree with all of this. I was like most with high expectations but there are small concerns for me. Nothing that can't be fixed with experience and coaching. It will be a tough game for sure. Win or lose it will only make us better in the long run.

Rarely ever disagree with you PP68 but I believe the 08 team could have brought home the gold against a good Milan team. if they got past Alcoa. Played them as tough as anybody had up until that point minus Maryville. Shot ourselves in the foot to many times with turnovers and we should have attacked them differently on offense in that game. 09 should have been at least an appearance for the gold. That year was the beginning of the end for Troy.

14,15,16 we just ran up against better teams in 2 of the 3 years and didn't get it done the other year. Just the way the cookie crumbles some times.

I actually forgot about the 08 team. Yes we had a very good team that year. I still watch that video from the game on YouTube every now and then.

Had to go back and check that one out again. 16-14 midway through the 4th. Heckuva game that night

I'm just curious, do you even go to the Marion County games or do you just listen to what people ramble on about? I rarely see you there.. And I ask this for a few reason, but mainly because a few posts ago you made a comment about the line has things to work on things. Granted there is always room for improvement let me just remind you MC has scored 143 points thus far and only had 31 points scored on them out of 5 games. Tell me again how the line needs work all this work like you claim?

Also which back is coming back this week that hasn't played all year?

TTP is at all the games. I feel the same about the line play. They're good but there's always room for improvement. Smaller lines have had success against MC in a couple games. A defensive line averaging close to 300 shouldn't get pushed around hardly any.

Don't know why #4 is on the field. He is obviously hurt and limping. Why risk him when this game is basically over. 46-6 and almost end of 3rd

#4 is a heckuva ball player. He got hurt when we played them and stayed in. Good win for the Rams. Hopefully we can make it a good game next week.
