Now that the season had concluded who are your top 10 in the State? I've got the following.

    1. BA (D2-AAA)

    2. MBA (D2-AAA)

    3. Maryville (6A)

    4. Oakland (6A)

    5. McCallie (D2-AAA)

    6. Knoxville Catholic (5A)

    7. Greenville (4A)

    8. Lausanne (D2-AA)

    9. Alcoa (3A)

    10. Blackman/Farragut/Oak Ridge/Beech (Any of these I could make arguments for)

Stupid post by an idiot living in his parents basement.  The best teams in the state have been decided.  Comparing apple's to orange's.  The top 9 in the state are:

    1A:  Greenback

    2A:  Union City

    3A:  Alcoa

    4A:  Greenville

    5A:  Knoxville Cathlolic

    6A:  Maryville

    DIIA:       Friendship Christian

    DIIAA:    Lausanne

    DIIAAA:  Brentwood Academy

You're all about Webb.  Now that the TSSAA made them play against the same sized schools, they will not see a gold ball again.  BTW, please put some of that $19,840 per year tuition into building visitors stands.  Terrible football atmosphere.  Felt like I was at a tennis match this year instead of a football game.

What is your point? That H.S. football is math class? You do know that Hewitt was injured in that game, right? Its the only reason MJCA had a chance against DA. As for the backs that you claim to be top ten in the state, you do realize this is the absolute worst class in the state. Any average back should be pounding out 200 a game against 10 or 12 of the teams in D2 A, so shutting those guys down is no big deal. Kings, MJCA and MTCS are all middle of the road teams in the worst class in TSSAA football.

You're right.   Probably should have compared head to head.  The West was weak, the East has the top two squads in the championship.  So the East 1-5 squads beat down the West 1-5 squads head to head.

BTW, Lawless told the FCS line on the first series that he's a 4 star that can play anywhere in the country he wants ... who are you guys.  On the last play of the game, one of the FCS lineman told him he's a 0 star that is playing in Cookeville in a couple of weeks for the championship.

  3. Simple Math:

    9/29:    FCS 55 -- MJCA 14

    10/13:  DA 31 -- NCS 28

    11/10:  DA 28 -- MJCA 24

MJCA took the West number 1 seed to the final minute, a team that beat NCS, and a team that FCS beat earlier in the season (and has never lost to) by 41 points.  DA needs to worry about DCA now.  The East 3-5 seeds dominated the West 4-6 seeds in the playoffs.

Time will tell but all the talk about the running game is funny.  Its not the line at FCS its the entire package.  Kings, MJCA, and MTCS (twice) are all in the top ten RB's in the state.  FCS shut each down.

Good luck tonight, hopefully no injuries so the championship will be fun whoever advances.

I gave them two much credit. I at least thought MT Juliet would make it into 2nd round. 10-0 and lose in the 1st round, that cupcake schedule they played will come back and bit you everytime.

Don't forget, they are back-to-back region champs.  However, last year they lost to a 5-5 squad in the 2nd round and this year to a 4th seed.

And why no team from Region 4 will advance to round 2.  I wish there was a parlay for HS football, I'd make a ton from MJGOLDENBEARS.

Any chance I can collect my $$ from my parlay bet on Region 4 being eliminated from MJGOLDENBEARS?  Doubt it.  The funniest thing about this loss is that MJCA will be in the local papers this week for advancing.  MJHS will now start talking about baseball though they have never won anything in that either.

They beat each other and didn't lose to anybody else. Those 4 teams went 16-0 in non-region games and 8-0 against other 6A teams with a 24-point average margin of victory.

There is a reason they are rated so highly.

    Sorry, I miss spoke.

Riverdale is in a region with a very competitive team at the top and the next three are over rated and beat each other.

In Riverdales 8 wins, 7 on them were against teams that were a combined 26-44. They beat Cookeville by 2 and lost to Blackman by 2.  That indicates to me these three teams are pretty equal and not dominate by any means.

They lost to Oakland by 29.

As far as MJ goes, I have nothing but respect for a team that shutout its first 6 opponents and went undefeated.

Not throwing out any games like Riverdale above, MJ's opponents record this year:  36-64 (36%).  I thought the region was weak but actually their out of conference opponents record this year was weaker If you can actually believe that:  15-35  (30%).

Can't argue with the facts.  MJ hasn't played a single 6A team this year with a record better than 6-4.

The argument will be and I agree that you can't control the schedule but this is like going 4-0 in the NFL preseason and saying you're going to win the Super Bowl.

Well hey number one troll, your content is much appreciated as we have won each game where you post hate comments toward us. Keep doing it, it seems to work wonders. Now go back to your D2-1a threads and talk about how boring it is to watch games where less than 100 people attend at MJCA

That's just funny.  Don't worry, you won't have to listen to me too much longer.  Riverdale is 8-2 not like the 5-5 squad that knocked you out last year.

I still take Hylick over the other two. As for CFAfan you forget that he ran for 176 against Friendship including a 94yd TD in which he outran the entire starting FC defense in the 1st half when the game was still competitive. Hylick has lead the state most weeks in rushing and he has been top 3 most of the season in TD's and points. Hylick was more impressive when Hylick and Hewitt squared off earlier this year. Both are very good backs but different styles of runners. Have not seen the Meyers in person so I can't speak on him just on what his stats say. I think these three are your finalist for Mr. Football this year in DII IA

Wow, I was at the MJCA/FCS game and we saw two completely different games.  Yes, Hylick clicked off the one big run when FCS had no safeties and he beat one LB.  For the rest of the game he maybe got 30 yards against the starting defense.  All of the rest of the yards came against JV and even freshman players because FCS pulled the starting defense after halftime and MJCA played their starters midway through the 4th quarter.  If  you're actually bragging about yards in a 55-14 beatdown ... you just don't know football.

  10. What's very sad about this list is these are all 'skill' players.  TSSAA took the award away from all of the lineman/backs.   Why they did that is simply a terrible decision.  I understand that everyone shouldn't get a 'participation trophy' but there should be two Mr. Football's for each class for the kids that opened up the line for the backs to get the yards above.  None of them would have done so without a big huge lineman in front of them.

This game will be unlike any other MJCA game. Running teams give DCA huge problems and MJCA does it well. If MJCA wins it wont be an upset. DCA will score but I'm not sure how often the defense will rise up and make stops?

Whoever DCA plays in the playoffs they'd better be able to affect the QB and cover the passing game. The QB has moments of HS magic and he has weapons all over the field.

A strong line that can last into the 2nd half & closing the edge stops MJCA's running game.  DCA has good coaches that will watch the film and figure this out.  The passing game isn't an issue if the running game is shutdown.  Most of the numbers from MJCA's running game has been put up against very weak competition.

But I'll disagree, MJCA has never beaten DCA so yes it'll be an upset because they are 0-6 all-time against them.  MJCA has no defense either so if DCA can figure out the RB solution ... 42-21.

  13. If I'm doing the math correctly, the East has been decided..  If DCA beats MJCA  here's the top 6:

FCS, DCA, Kings, MJCA, MTMC, Grace.

If MJCA Beats DCA the order changes:

FCS, Kings, MJCA, MTMC, DCA, Grace.

Lot riding on the MJCA/DCA game.  DCA is a different team since the start of the season.  Lots of starters are back.  They are a wildcard right now.  No one wants to play them early in the playoffs.  From experience I've seen them knock of GIANTS in the playoffs that discount them.

From what I understand in the West only DA/NCA are for real.  The East will shutdown the west other than #3 vs #6.  I wouldn't discount Grace though against the West #3.  They've put up points against some non defensive squads.  Good luck to all.

My bold prediction if DCA starters are back:  DCA 42 - MJCA 21.

    2016 W DCA 54 Mt. Juliet Christian 39
    2015 W DCA 46 Mt. Juliet Christian 14
    2014 W DCA 44 Mt. Juliet Christian 8
    2013 W DCA 46 Mt. Juliet Christian 14
    2012 W DCA 42 Mt. Juliet Christian 0
    2011 W DCA 48 Mt. Juliet Christian 0
    2010 W DCA 48 Mt. Juliet Christian 0
    2009 W DCA 56 Mt. Juliet Christian 0
  14. The TSSAA reduced this award this season to just one per class plus an overall kicker.  Terrible idea.  There should be one lineman and one skill player.  I don't see how a lineman will ever get this award moving forward:

    http://www.tennessean.com/story/sports/high-school/2017/08/14/tssaa-makes-changes-mr-football-awards/564135001/

Also, They announced this change in August for this year.  Again, terrible.  If it effects the current athletes they should have given them time to process through.  Making a decision like this during the current year is just simply a bad decision.

    For what it's worth:

FCS Foutch, MJCA Hylick, TKA Burgess, NCS Myers, DA Hewitt & Stone, MTCS McGowan, Tipton Rowan.

Also it drives me nuts that the AP doesn't break down rankings for DII.  All three classes are in the top ten so we don't have rankings for this classification.  Like the TSSAA just lazy journalism.

And your opinion means little to nothing. You aren't on the committee at the TSSAA that is going to decide Mr Football. If your simple mind would have paid attention to what I said you would know that the award will be decided in the next 6 weeks.

It'll be 4 weeks.  Foutch and Hylick are the best RB's in Wilson County.  MJ loses in the 2nd round because they haven't played anyone.  Rutherford County, Maryville, Cookeville (surprisingly) or any Memphis squad is going to beat this team.  If I'm on the TSSAA committee I'm going to look at who MJ played and here are 4 of those squads with the updated records in front .... pitiful:

    1-7 Aug. 18, 2017 Fri Glencliff High School  W 55-0
    0-8 Aug. 25, 2017 Fri at John Overton High School  W 38-0
    2-6 Sep. 15, 2017 Fri Wilson Central High School *  W 35-0
    1-7 Sep. 22, 2017 Fri Northwest High School  W 43-0

I might have a simple mind but I know facts.  You my friend do not.  Any reasonable person can look at this and say MJ stats mean nothing compared to who they have played.  4-28 speaks for itself.
