I think Coalfield holds the advantage in coaching. No staff gets more out of less than them. But I think Webb is good too though. He's not had much to work with this year and the team has improved as the year went on. That to me is the biggest indicator of a well coached team. I think Treece has a big day like another poster said. I think it will be over by 4th qtr
Treece struggled against Oz. It seemed like alot of his passes were sailing on him. Hopefully, he has a better night tonight.

Rockwood may get out talented but i doubt they get out coached...... Webb, like any other coach may leave you scratching you head sometimes but he's good at what he does......I'm sure he will have a solid gameplan going in......now if we can execute that plan or not could be a whole 'nother story
Webb is one of the better coaches in the area.

Hampton should have no problem with South Greene should they!? Hampton may just run the table. I don't think there is a clear cut favorite in the east in 2A

We are 3-5 against them
For teams that we play consistently, Greenback, Oneida, and Oz all have winning records against us. The bobcats never played us for a good stretch when they were 2A. We had some good teams during that stretch.

Bledsoe by 7. Bledsoe looks pretty tough

Exactly. They had much bigger fish to fry.Im sure playing teams like CF,GB,Oneida back 15 years ago did nothing for them.First time we played them was a bowl game my Sr year in 89 then they were in our region Mid 2000's but we did have a winning record against
What teams do have a winning record against you all? South Pitt, and some bigger schools I assume but not many! Maybe Oneida too.

Have they really only played a handful of times? And did Rockwood really beat coalfield 105-0 in the ‘30’s?
Strange isn't it, I thought the same thing. I would think it would be a pretty good match up most years.

Thursday night game !
What do you think about this one ?
I think, they better be ready for a battle Thursday! Rockwood is 5-1 and they could win the region outright if Greenback upset Oz and then they beat us. In 2010, you would have thought we would have won but they came up to Rochelle and kicked our tails. Rockwood has just as much to play for as Coalfield does (along with a little help from the Cherokees).

It is a sloppy first half, way too many penalties. We got get those cleaned up if we have any intentions of winning!

Coalfield -16.5 all day long.
I hope your right, I just hope these strong winds die down before game time. Good luck to the Indians tonight!

Y’all should beat them by 14. I mean everyone here knows just like going to OZ land when y’all play at home you have 14 on the boobwfore the game starts.
I still think Greenback has a slight edge on both of us, a very tough place to play in my opinion.

Sorry about that, I started the topic early since we both have off weeks.

They are good enough, no question.

The Jackets will put as much as they want on them this year. I think the talent gap is just to wide right now for it to be very close for very long.
I don't know, I believe it will be competitive this year, I think!

Well I am biased also.lol
I was on the 87 team also.It WAS the best team we ever had.The Defense was nasty and the O-line were bull dozers and our WR was a Rocket.Your team was the best we played all year other than Knox Webb.
It was a nasty group, I don't think they were anybody to even contest them.

Did I remember that correctly rt? I do remember one of you would win the regular season game and the other would win the playoff game. A bunch of times 1 of the 2 of the best teams in the east would get bumped out early by the other in 1A when y’all played an early round game.
Yeah, crazy how it worked out that way. And when they got that monkey off their back did they ever! They were dominant for a good, long stretch till here recently. It's been nice not having to go to Cloudland every year in the 2nd round.

Yeah coalfield was your kryptonite in November for a time it seemed. Am I remembering that right?
23 year curse is over.

It’s mainly just anybody outside of region 1 or 2 with the exception of Greenback or Cloudland in their good years. Everybody else up there is consistently uncompetitive. Which is why they get beat in the semis a lot like you said because they rregion 3 or 4 team (mostly
That's a yes on Greenback and not so much on Cloudland. No disrespect but we have had a pretty good run against Cloudland. They beat us in the quarterfinals in 21 but I can't remember the last time we lost to them after that one. As far as region 3 and 4, it has been South Pitt beating us mostly. We haven't played Gordy/Clay that much due to South Pitt. To be honest Cf has been down the last 4 or 5 years when we've played Gordonsville during that time. The whole region has been down actually. I believe some of our best teams have actually been when we finished behind Greenback in the region. We both had some pretty good teams during that decade of Greenback dominance. I think that would've been our best shot at beating South Pitt if we could have advanced past the Cherokees. Gordonsville is pretty good but South Pitt is in a league of there own with Greenback on the verge of joining them in their supremacy (at least till some jealous bystanders sabotaged their program)!

Did y’all call the game at halftime last night. That one went final very early even for a running clock.
I believe they had a gentlemens agreement. Even the first half seemed to have went by fast. Sunbright may just be the worst team in single A.

Should be a better game this year.
I agree, it could be a close one. Tell me, what team is it that Holden plays for again?

Coalfield wins by 2 scores
Hope you are right, Oz has been improving throughout the season with a few hiccups along the way.

Question for somebody who knows? I didn't see #54 playing against Sunbright, is he hurt or just sitting out . He would be a big loss if injured.
-
This game could be for the region. I believe it should be a good game.

Cloudland by a bunch!
Rockwood @ Coalfield
in Class 1A & Class 2A

Rockwood may be better but Cf has regressed toward the end of the season. Our lineman looked like they were on roller skates at times here in the last few games!
