Rt no offense but coalfield isn’t a good coalfield team and we had 1 rushing yard. Our defense isn’t bad but I just don’t know if we can get them and keep them off the field this year. We had similar problems with that last year.
No offense, it's a widespread thing going on. Everything has its ups and downs, including good football teams. I still enjoy the game the same.

We have a real chance at missing the playoffs this season.
Come on! Oneida not that bad! Except for York, I believe it's almost wide open in your alls region.

I certainly hope that Oz is not the strongest team in that region after our game with them last Friday.
Your brother still in my prayers. He is a class act!

Agree.CF,OZ,Oakdale.1-2-3.GB has a pretty good looking squad but......
I think Greenback may surprise some people. CF is not quite as good as last year but I don't see Oz winning the district but who knows. It will all start unfolding a week at a time until the Pirates dismantle whoever's in their way. Good luck to the Cherokees! Heck, we play next week but we better be ready for those other Indians. I have a feeling it could be a good one

I don't think so, not unless they've improved a lot since last year.

The Jackets are down this year other than the big tackle their line the o line is soft as butter.
I agree, we will probably be exposed this week !

Is coalfield that down?
Well, I haven't seen Oneida play but I have a lot of respect for the Indians. I'm not saying Cf is down, I was just referring to importance of good line play from a totally revamped offensive line.
-
I'm thinking this will be a close game! With only one returning offensive lineman, line play will be key as the season progresses.

They Bobcats are starting the season like they ended last year with a good thrashing.

RW secondary is not good. Both teams need to get better line play on both sides. We’ve been very one dimensional and cannot sustain anything on the ground. Just hitting big plays. Can’t make a living like that.
Our secondary hasn't looked that great. The Hines kid will be hard to replace in our secondary.

Wartburg should be single A. They would be so much better in single A vs. double AA. I think a consolidation would be the best thing for the county of Morgan to advance for the future. All the kids in the county have just transferred to Coalfield and left their home schools with no players to hardly field a team. Wartburg around 25 players in Double AA, Sunbright around 17 players, Oakdale around 20, and Coalfield around 50.
We haven't got no transfers from other county schools that i know of and I can't remember a team with 50 players either. We had a few transfers from Oz and Oakdale over the years but that's about it

Oliver Springs by 6
Come on, lets be real, Oz could barely beat their way out of a paper bag much less beat one of the best teams in Single A. It shall get ugly for the Bobcats!

Maybe coalfield will be looking to win this one by more than they did last year, I was actually quite confused on how Wartburg kept it so close last year 14-8. I think coalfield wins and maybe by a bit more but it seems like Wartburg always has a way to keep it close to them. Final score 28-7. Do you Morgan County folk think that Wartburg would do pretty good In 1a. And my second question is have they ever talked about a single Morgan Co high school. I'd imagine they'd be about 3a or maybe a smaller 4a school. Would sunbright, wartburg, coalfield, and Oakdale teams combined be pretty good or do you think it'd be something similar to how the Blount County schools consolidation went walland was pretty successful. But im not sure if maryville-heritage ever had a winning season more than 5 times.
I don't think it would make much difference for Wartburg if they were in 1A. They would still have a hard time making the playoffs if they were in our region.

I saw Wartburg against Oliver Springs in the Roane jamboree. They were small and slow. They looked to have a bunch of players out of pads on the sideline though so I guess out for injury or to transfer so I'm picking Coalfield 42-14.
I'd say all the starters sat the dress rehearsal.

That's interesting about the transfers. I hadn't heard that. That could really make a difference if they are some big lineman and a couple of skill guys.
Last year's game was probably the biggest anomaly for the entire year. Wartburg went on to get destroyed by a bad Harriman team and Coalfield went on to blow out everyone they played except for Gordy and Clay. Very strange.
Is strange how the season played out when you look at that game. I've heard that they have added a few big boys on the fronts, we will see. We've had a lot of closer than expected games with the bulldogs over the years. CF played sloppy that night and against Gordy too.

Coalfield will roll! Wartburg has gotten better in recent years but they ain’t good enough to beat CF.
They will be hungry! We won 14-8 last year. I expect another game like that one, this one is for the bragging rights in the county and I know Wartburg will give it their all against us as they always do.

You beat me to it Jet so we will use your thread. I’m afraid RW will make it 4 in a row this year. I was told that they got a pretty good RB transfer in down there. Any truth to it???
It will be interesting to see how this one plays out. Hope the Indians get back on track like the teams of the past.
-
Could be a good ball game! I've heard Wartburg has 6 transfer from their new coaches old school. They always play us tough it seems like.

Good luck to you and your boys this year. I won't be going to many games this year kinda burnt out on this stupid hiring fiasco.Of course I still want to beat you all!LOL.We have about 35 kids and not sure about this coaching staff so I'm expecting 4th or 5th place in Region with Rockwood on board unless Coach Bill Satterfield can help Midway beat us too.He is an Assistant there this year and after the School Board not even recognizing him or Greg I'm sure revenge is on his priority list!
It wouldn't surprise me if the Cherokees are back in the mix this year. Who knows, this coach may live up to the expectations of the Greenback faithful. I do hate to see all this fiasco with the hiring, just seems uncalled for but what do I know!
