  1. Randall should get started with the weight room soon. Big time for Clinton Freshman. Ole Dad
  2. I think Coach Stevens is taking this Dead Period thing too far. Three years is long enough. Ole Dad
  3. I hear that Randall's old assistant at Norwood, Jim Davis, is very excited about Randalls return to coaching. Should be an interesting year for the Clinton Freshman under his tutledge. Ole Dad
  4. How about a list of all the D2 teams and the part of Tennessee they are from? I was under the impression that most are from Middle Tennessee, which would be a good indicator of where the champions are from. It will be good info either way. Ole Dad
  5. Middle of dead period. He'll be around soon. Ole Dad
  6. Holy Toledo! That scares me to death. I wonder who's watching the schedule for the OR coaching staff? I hope they can remember where to show up and when so we don't have another scrimmage reoccurrence and debacle. Ole Dad
  7. Has Randall confirmed his return to anyone other than Cactus Jack? Ole Dad
  8. LOD, I can tell you how this story ends.....because I have ESPN.....HD........ Stanton's behavior continues the way it always has and he get into a fight with a player, parent, fan, opposing coach, opposing fan, etc and that party files suit against The OR School District, Bailey, Green, The School Board, etc. for negligence in conjunction with assault and battery. This is based on the fact that they know about his behavior issues and have ignored it and allowed him to remain as coach although they know he is volatile and has anger management issues. (Besides the fact that he has no management skills, organizational skill, work ethic or respect from his peers or players) This will result in a settlement with two commas in it and the OR citizens will throw the whole bunch out for mismanagement. It's coming. Ole Dad PS. Where are all the uniforms and equipment? Call knoxville, I'm sure they can be located.
  9. I hear he's already setting the table for 2008 and telling the Admin that it is going to be a down year. Poor talent and a rebuilding year according to the Admin folks. I guess if when you arrived you had 100 kids your first season and are down to 50 kids in your 4th season, and your school is the same size it has something to do with the kids not wanting to play for the coach. Ole Dad
  10. Trying your hardest is quite the point. Your post apparently means trying your hardest with what you presently have and not trying to attain any more, whether that is financial or otherwise. If actually having kids in a Catholic educational environment is the goal and giving a fine parochial education is the result, then offing the financial aid to bring outstanding athletes into that program should not be viewed as bad. In most instances a successful football program supplies the financial resources for the support of most other non-revenue producing sports, especially women??™s. Ryan getting a stadium on campus is wonderful, but the ability to fill those seats and generate income to support the other sports programs at Ryan is one of its greatest benefits. The cap on financial aid is arbitrary and antiquated and should be based on needs of the student and not some outdated rule. Bringing in students that might go somewhere else because of the better financial aid offered is not detrimental to the education of the remaining student body. It actually makes them proud to support the school and the athletic programs. You ever see 6,000 people at a Volleyball game? Me either, but you have at many football games. So, in the end, being satisfied with mediocrity is not what we should be teaching our youth and trying your hardest requires more that just physical talents of hard work, but the mental talents of how to increase your resources and ability to compete at the highest level. If we were competing in a lumber jack competition and all the schools had shiny new chain saws could we feel good about sending our students out with shiny new axes to try and compete? Ole Dad
  11. "PS, does being successful in any sport depend on how much money you have? If so, perhaps the biggest banner that Father Ryan could hang at their school is that they have refused up to the recent past to focus too much on one sport at the expense of all the other sports, especially women's sports." The answer to that question is yes and in how much of it you are willing to spend. It takes facilities, equipemnt and resources to compete. All of those things cost money and require support and not just lip service. Ole Dad
  12. When it gets really bad and things get embarrassing (for whatever the reason ends of being) Those two clowns are going to be going "how could this happen" and pointing at Chucky and Mullins to take the fall. Wait and see. Ole Dad
  13. Look at the number of athletes necessary on a team in the sports that you named compared to what you need for a great football team. Didn't you ever notice that Vandy, Duke, Marquette, Villanova, etc. can compete in basketball, soccer, lacrosse, etc. because of the number of truly great athletes required for those sports is much smaller. The fact is that MBA and BA give many times more financial aid to football athletes than FRHS. By the way, football has turned around at FRHS, but to get back to the next level in today's environment requires funds. Ole Dad
  14. I'll turn my spell check on for you next time so it doesn't confuse your fragile little mind. Ole Dad
  15. You can't do it all with hard work and coaching. You actually have to be able to get some competitive talent to compete with their talent. If the "Irish Faithful" want to compete with BA and MBA they need to step up and offer the cash for the same financial assistance to athletes that brings that same quality of great athletes to those two schools, because currently it is not even close. You have to walk the talk and right now the admin at FRHS is more concerned with keeping their reputation as an academic school and not an athletic one. When they get their stadium built and some funds for athletic financial aid they can win against the two you mentioned. Ole Dad Ole Dad
  16. Inventory management and security issues evidently. Ole Dad
  17. I understand that Legendary former Norwood Coach Randall Sharp may be stepping up to take charge of the Clinton Freshman program. This is a great hire. Ole Dad
  18. As a short, old, fat guy the view is the same from here. When OR tries to suit up and all the uniforms are missing and they have no equipment somebody will have to answer the bell. Eventually it will land with Chucky and Mullins and they will end up taking the fall while Bailey and Green look on in amazement and say "how could this happen"? Ole Dad
  19. Yeah, I hear all the money is being spent to replace all the uniforms and equipment that got "misplaced." Ole Dad
  20. Ben Martin 1943-1947 (23-18-1) (60%) Buist Warren 1948-1951 (30-10-2) (73.8%) John Francis 1952-1954 (24-3-3) (85%) Jack Armstrong 1955-1968 (105-28-5) (77.9%) Emory Hale 1969-1980 (112-23) (83.0%) Bill Young 1981-1987 (57-21) (73.1%) Joe Gaddis 1988-1998 (119-24) (83.2%) Bruce Lussier 1999- 2004 (62-14) (81.6%) Stanton Stevens 2005- ( 26-10 ) (72.2%) Here are the records. Other than during WWII when the school was just built, Stevens has ther worst record in ORHS football history. Now those are the real facts. Stevens will be lucky to win 5 games this year. Ole Dad
  21. I think Father Ryan is trying to scedule Oak Ridge for Homecoming so they can be assured of a W. Ole Dad
  22. That was a bunch of bunk. He may have "One of the highest winning percentages in Tennessee" but he currently has the worst winning percentage in OR Football history. Now that's the real facts and not some emotional bull crap. Ole Dad
  23. Oak Ridge must be undefeated in Spring Sports because the excuse for Oak Ridge's numbers being down and the skill players not being there is always that those kids are in spring sports and "are coming out" for the fall. So my only conclusion is that Bearden and all of the other schools in our area with 100 kids out for football spring practice must not have any spring sports. Therefore we must be winning all of the games scheduled for those sports by forfeit. Ole Dad
