  1. Ok after a very disappointing effort tonight Heritage plays Halls to decide who will host a 1st rd playoff game I honestly don't know who will win this game if we play like we did in the West game we should win but if we play anything like we did against Clinton tonight Halls will win

Halls put up 76 points on Karns last night. Hammontree will turn things around over there, just be patient. Good luck to you guys!
  2. Heritage is a much better team than there record shows. They gave us all we could handle. I'm proud to have them in our region. I think they take Clinton to the wood shed if they play like they did against West.

Other than the Farragut win, I haven't been very impressed with West this year. I say Fulton takes them to the wood shed Friday night.

But yes, you are correct. Heritage is much better and I like their coaching staff. If Heritage wins by 20 or loses by 20, I wouldn't be surprised by either.

  3. I agree with you, I do. I'm there every week cheering them on and hoping for the best. Obviously .500 or worse is far from satisfying but I guess I'm just a glass half empty kind of guy with the wins and losses. But don't get me wrong...it is an incredible shame that they don't have a better record with this talent but...we all know what's wrong.

Something else we need to think about is making money for our program. If you're losing, no one will come to the games and we lose money on parking, tickets, and concessions.
  4. Final on Senior night. Central-48 Halls-14. Halls offense DIDN'T score on Central's defense. Had a Kick off return and an INT return.

That's Pretty impressive, but you better get that fixed before playoffs. If you're playing a team with a good defense, those 2 scores can get you beat. Good luck to Central..I'm hoping you guys go deep in the playoffs!
  5. I would think so. I'm asking because that seems to me to be their biggest weaknesses. The OL plays hard but their technique isn't very good at all. You can't coach athleticism but you can make your kids be technicians. Of course, this is only my opinion

    You are 100% correct!
  6. Webb is one of those teams that can start 0-4 and end up winning a state championship. When I saw them on OR's schedule at the beginning of the year, I thought this could be a dangerous game for the Wildcats. OR is the larger school and should win, but it wouldn't surprise me if Webb pulls it out. Good luck, should be a great game!

  7. First, I want to give credit to Clinton. They are a much better team than some are giving them credit for, and are going to surprise some folks that may overlook them. The QB is very good, with great pocket presence, accurate both in the pocket, and on the run. When the play calls for it, he is elusive, athletic, and has good speed. In addition, #4, #5, and the HUGE DT / NG are players that would be an asset on most any team. They played hard and it was fun to watch 2 teams throw it around a lot.

Now, what I saw in the game. Just one man’s observations: Clinton came out and used a wide variety of screen plays to deal with a very aggressive CAK front, and were very effective early on using this to drive for their initial score. They did a very good job, along with some less than stellar play by CAK, to hold the Warriors to a 14-7 CAK lead at the half.

The 3rd quarter belonged to CAK as they scored 21 straight and led 35-7. CAK’s defense was able to adjust to what they had seen from Clinton well enough to hold them scoreless. However, there was a tremendous athletic TD by Clinton on a kick return, which made it 35-14 with the special teams play.

CAK scored once more to get to 42 and the game was in control. Clinton scored once more to get to 21 late in the 4th with an outstanding athletic play by one of their elusive skill people, #5 I believe. It appeared that the CAK defense had relaxed with the game well in hand and late in the 4th, but who knows, the Clinton player made an outstanding play and may have scored regardless.

The game was never in doubt after half time. Clinton is a 5A school whose coach commented that they had several key starters that had been absent in recent close losses, but would be back for the CAK game. Clinton played hard, but I don’t feel like CAK played poorly when they doubled up their opponent and won by 3 TD’s.

CAK lost their second key starter for the year before this game to an ACL. They have lost their #1 RB and their #1 ILB who was their leading tackler both last year and this year. Unusual to lose 2 key starters to ACL in one year, but it happens. CAK also lost a starting DE and starting RB (who was now the #1 back since the other back had been lost earlier in the year) during the game. Hopefully both will be back in the next few weeks. A small school like CAK has never had the luxury of depth, and the key for them to have a good chance to be in the top of 3A is not to have key injuries.

Does CAK barely beating Clinton by 21, coupled with key losses of starters and injuries on a small team with very little depth mean that CAK doesn’t have a prayer to be a significant factor in 3A this year? Maybe. Let’s see how this plays out.

Clinton played a clean game, the players and coaches were classy, and it was a pleasure to get to see this match up. Best of luck to the Dragons the rest of the season.

Not that it matters much, but CAK never led 35-7....it was 28-7 when #5 ran back the kickoff to make it 28-14.

CAK is a good team, but they are going to have their hands full with Alcoa. Good luck the rest of the year!

  8. Well I'm sorry, but I disagree. If we want to have a successful program, we need to raise the bar a little higher. I'm not satisfied with just barely making the playoffs. We have too much talent on this team to not be doing better. Apparently, the coaching staff cannot coach these players up!!

  9. He's probably wishing he had stayed as well.

I figured he wasn't playing the first 5 games because of the transfer, but yeah, if he had stayed at Clinton he would be playing and not just standing on the sideline. Lol....and I don't like him wearing #81....he looks much better wearing #2! Haha
  10. Hey, I'm with you on that. The Shepherd kid hasn't played hardly at all for us besides mop up duty. I thought hed be a player with his dads bloodlines.

He is a very good football player! I wished he had stayed at Clinton and we would've probably used him at rb, and wr this year, plus play him on defense at corner or safety.
  11. Well, our offense this year wouldn't have accomodated his talents. No spread here man. Can't really blame him for leaving. I voted for him for prepxtra player of the week.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that there are players on both teams that don't get a chance to play unless they transfer or someone gets hurt. Just like our #55 that played last week looked really good on the D Line, but hadnt played all season until we had some guys hurt. I say sprinkle in some younger guys from time to time and let's see what they can do in a game situation.
  12. Come on down to The Ridge fellers!!! lol jk Whitt and Booker have been nice additions for y'all, especially Whitt. I loved that kid at OR.

Witt was on fire last week. He intercepted 2 passes on defense and caught 7 for 131 yards and 3 tds on offense. But he wasn't good enough to start at OR I hear? Lol
