Playing where you want to play is college or AAU. Not high school basketball. Geez!

Geez! Maybe that would make schools become more competitive in academics. People are going to want their kids to get a good education to. What if a kid lives in a school district that is below academic standards? Should that kid be penalized for wanting a better education and he or she happens to play sports? I personally don’t think so but I’m sure you and several others might disagree. What if it was your kid in that situation? Would you still feel the same way?

What does Memphis schools have to do with this?

LOL! Pointing out that this happens in Memphis a lot. I could go on with examples through the years but that's not my intent. People were talking about CA's team and I was just pointing out the obvious. Like I said in the post basketball is different than most the other sports. I personally believe kids should play where they want to play without any penalties. Some people wouldn't like this but is it not about the kids?

It's not complicated. What CA does is not an even playing field with public schools. Bottom line. Really very simple. As you have acknowledged, there are multiple players who were huge pieces of your team that are not CA kids. You still have a good team without them but not a championship team. Public schools can't have a kid from Giles Co. come join the team without moving into their school zone. Facts. You have a bus that drives into other counties to pick up students. Nothing disrespectful to the players or coaches. They were there most complete single A team in the state. No doubt. Great team. Well coached. But the team was not constructed like every other team in the state. Don't try to argue around it. Just own it. Take your gold ball home. Then work hard to win another after this year while playing on an actual LEVEL PLAYING FIELD against D2 schools starting next season.

First of all congrats to CA on a great year! You showed Tennessee that you were the best in 1A this year. Second I'm tired of reading all the whining about players transfering in to play basketball. I didn't hear anyone complaining about Memphis Hamilton last year. They had 3 players that played for someone else the year before. They won 2AA last year.  The Memphis school do this ALL THE TIME. Plus basketball is different than a lot of the other sports. What I mean by this is the AAU ball. Most of the players play together or play against each other. So they might transfer a little more than in other sports. Thats just how it is.. I don't have a solution for any of this but all schools are not always going to have the same playing field. Again congrats to Columbia Academy on a great year.

Since our little discussion you got me curious. So, I went and pulled the stats from the games just to compare. Sooooooo .... after the Bearden starting 5 ... then what?

Lol! Maybe you know what I'm talking about now. That have a better nucleus of talent and play better as a team.  Senior laden team that has been here. Your bias couldn't see that but now you do. Bearden is for real and they should have a chance to win it tomorrow. I actually gave Whitehaven too much credit.

You do know that those are contrdicting statements ... right? That is by definition ... an oxymoron.

    But ... I digress ...

    SMH ... LOLOLOLOLOLOL

The game will be exciting tomorrow to say the least!

Lol! You can take it however you like. I have watched to many basketball games to know I can't always be right. Lol! Foul trouble, turnovers, and a bad shooting night can change any game, one way or the other. Should be a great game with two very good teams.

You're right, we don't have a clue. But, I wasn't the one who declared that Bearden would win by 8 points. That was you. All I could do is look at schedules to compare and contrast against common opponents. They seem pretty close in accomplishments to me.

Doesn't matter if your opinion "jives" with mine. I was just asking about the insight that you seem to have that makes you feel confident enough in Bearden's ability to beat Whathaven that it prompted you to declare Bearden to be an 8-point victor in tomorrows game. That's all.

Me ... I think Whitehaven has everything they need to win tomorrow. I think they have the talent. I think they have the depth. I think they have the right mind set. I think they have the coaching. I HOPE they win tomorrow. I will be dissapointed if they don't. However, bearden is a really good, well coached team.

You, on the other hand have already declared Bearden to be an 8-point victor.

    We will see tomorrow.

Lol! I haven't declared Bearden an 8 point victor. Just giving my opinion that I think they will win by 8. Could win by 1 or lose by 8. Who knows??? They still have to play the game.

Ok ... fair enough. I don't know enough about Bearden to know whether or not their nucleus of talent is better then Whitehaven's. I find that hard to believe. However, all I can do is compare schedules at this point and look at the teams that both teams have played. You do know that they have three common opponents. Center Hill (MS) (Mississippi state champ), Southwind, and Oak Ridge. Of the three, Bearden has lost to Center Hill by 13 and they lost to Southwind by 5. They beat Oak Ridge by 14 in the R2 AAA championship game. Of the three, Whitehaven lost to Center Hill by 1 and they beat both Southwind (by 1) and Oak Ridge (by 5). I don't know if that suggest a better nucleus of talent on Bearden's part or not. Doesn't appear that way to me. Just an observation.

I definately don't see an 8 point victory by Bearden. Both teams had wins with a wide margin of victory. Both made deep runs into the state championship last year with Whitehaven being the runnuer-up and Bearden losing in the semi's.  I don't see a match-up problem that is in Bearden's favor from what little video I've seen of Bearden. Who on the Bearden roster is suppose to pose a match-up problem for Whitehaven? For that matter, I don't see the Bearden coach outcoaching the Whitehaven coach ... so, enlighten me.

Maybe, I meant match-up problem for Bearden. You and I don't have a clue how the game is going to turn out tomorrow. Just trying to give my opinion. Sorry If doesn't jive with your opinion. I've only missed one State Championship game so far (Brentwood). Whitehaven could very much win tomorrow but I think Bearden gets to the Championship game.

Bearden played without their best player at least half the year.

I understand that Bearden is good, but why do you say that they "should" play for the championship? I understand that they don't have many weaknesses ... but why do you favor them over Whitehaven?

I think they have a better nucleus of talent than Whithaven.  Sometimes it’s a about match ups too. Maybe Whitehaven wins but I’ll take Bearden by 8. Don’t forget they had East on the ropes in last years semifinal game. They have everyone back but one player from last years team.

Manassas by as many as they want.

I’ve seen Columbia Academy play around Christmas. Columbia Academy is a very solid single A team. I haven’t seen Manassas but would be surprised if they won by 10 or more. That’s based on what I’ve seen of Columbia Academy. Maybe Manassas is that good.
