Home is where the check is. Live in Camden, and work in Parsons. Being so far from Nashville and Memphis, we feel like year in and year out these schools don't get enough press. They usually don't even report our scores on the Jackson TV station, unless we are playing Lexington. This year they reported one game where  they said we had lost when we had actually won! I think football is important to these smaller communities and I love every minute of it.

Oh I completely understand that. Those teams along the river never got coverage.   Heck even Union City in their great years didnt get coverage other than from Western KY which most folks don’t watch or see.  Y’all aren’t the only ones, my friend. It sucks when that happens.   Small town football is where some of the best games are played.  It’s a shame some teams are ignored like that.

Bleachers are small and it’s very very muddy there. Better wear some boots and take some chairs

Good thing I'm off  Thursday and Friday, I'll be there at 5pm if needed.     I'm sure not concerned with Black Friday shopping. haha.  Ought to still be full of turkey and all the fixings anyways. I hope everyone has a lovely holiday with their family and friends.  I know I'm thankful  to be playing another Friday.   Let's remember to be thankful this week for all each of us have.    Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!

  4. I'm still reeling over this game tonight.  I have to do my research on Riverside.  Though it always throws me off to see @38320 posting for Riverside when all I see is the Camden zip code.  I know he teaches there, but still.   I hope for a good game but nothing like what played out tonight.   This was not typical for Peabody.  None of it matters though because we got the W.  Fairley has a long ride home to Memphis singing nananana, nananana, hey hey, goodbye to their football season.    They'll know next time to never count Peabody out no matter the 4th qtr circumstances..... and to never sing that song before the game is officially over.   Though I'll give them credit.  That's the biggest crowd out of Memphis I've ever seen at Walter Kilzer Stadium.   Memphis teams rarely have much support, but I'll give to Fairley because for once we had more than 6 people on the visitor stands for a Memphis team.    At the same time,  I know Riverside might ought to add some additional bleachers because Peabody travels big!   We bring the crowds.

Fairley outplayed Peabody all night and literally gave them the game. Victory formation with 3 snaps game over. Don't know what happend or how the fumble happend. They literally gave the game away four times. They fumbled inside the Peabody red zone late. Had a first down 8 yard gain called back with a mysterious flag that turned into a first and 17 and resulted in a pass that CB picked off with 2 minutes left, Had the mysterious victory formation fumble, had a walk in untouched 2 point conversion in OT that the back decided to pass incomplete. Peabody literally had the game gave to them. Were outplayed all night. Thought Peabody got cute with their game plan on offense and should have been pounding all night. Congrats on the Christmas gift because it was literally a gift.

At this point none of it matters.  We won.  You're polishing the basketball gym floors.   I don't know if you were at this game or not. There were bad calls on both sides of a the ball.  There was a lot of shoulda, coulda, woulda's the entire game.  All that matters was who was ahead when the game ended.   It sure wasn't Gibson County, now was it?   Better take your Peanut Gallery and stock your basketball concessions.

I had a guy from Fairley ask me before the start of the 4th quarter, where riverside was because he needed to know for their trip for next week lol

:roflol:  In all honesty there at the end, I thought they were heading there.  But I’ve learned to never count out Peabody in those final moments though.  The Milan game (from last year I think) comes to mind.  Plus the Adamsville game in the playoffs last year or the year before.  My years are running together.  Haha.   My mind is no longer functioning at this point after such a dramatic game of ups and downs....  mainly downs with some huge ups! Lol

Sometimes the better team does not play so good.  Fairley made us look bad and I never would have though there coach could match wits with ours.  But he did.  My heart goes out for Fairley.  Both coaching staffs would  like to have do overs but the pass play was the most bone head play of them all  I am told that the QB calls plays sometime.  I just can't see a coach who called a game as well as he did and blow it on that one.  We had several heroes tonight but Jarel Dickson put this team on his back and carried them into the semis.  I thought we should the first half would be our undoing.  We left two scores on the field.  Anybody will tell you that sometimes winning it all takes luck.  I believe the state championship was played tonight.  Hats of to Fairley and hats off to our coaching staff, players and community.

Agreed! On all and especially that on Dickson.  They couldn’t stop him until they started putting 3 or 4 players on him.  In the end though he got the job done.

First of all hats off to Fairley they were much better up front than I expected even with seeing limited clips. I have no ties to this game but I almost had a heart attack watching what I did. That interception by CB was amazing. I still question the call to pass there. Coming away from this from at least what I saw it.looked like Fairley might've been the better team but Peabody just wouldn't be denied. Hope Baugus is ok. Good luck next week

That was literally taking one for the team.   I pray Baugus is okay.   Without his sacrifice, we might be bouncing basketballs.

Though for the folks saying the better team lost.   That's crazy.  If you've seen Peabody play, you'd know Peabody had an off game. Fairley got unsportsmanlike conduct called on them for clapping causing our guys to have false starts.  If you look back at our season, we rarely had false start penalties.  Tonight wasn't your typical Peabody.  And if any of you we meet next week or hopefully the week after think that, keep on believing it.   Peabody earned that W in that 4th quarter.    We haven't had to play a game that came down to that... Much less overtime.  Regardless of how you want to call it, Peabody got the W.   Next time I bet Fairley won't be singing Nananana, nananana, hey hey, goodbye before that game clocked ends. I'm not trying to take anything away from Fairley because they did play a good game, but they had no integrity in their playing.  The game against Mckenzie last week was the best sportsmanship ever.   The sportsmanship of Fairley and their fans was reminiscent of the Dresden game last year.   It was bad.   I know it was an emotional game for them, but it's uncalled for.  Especially knowing at the end of the game when a Fairley player was laying in the end zone crying, our guys went to him to lift him up.   That's called winning with grace.  I'll step off my soap box now.

Agree. Swafford hasn’t played in many 4th quarters either. Once we are up 28-35 he’s out. Truth is though that’s the way it should be. Hate stat chasers.

Quite true.  Our starters have rarely played beyond the first half honestly.  They’re conditioned to do so, but they haven’t had to.   There’s no reason in having them play and risk injury.  Plus this is giving our younger guys game time.  We have to keep the legacy going.   Not many freshman/sophomores get playing time like this to prepare them for their time to shine.   It’s not a bad thing at all.  I’m just thankful that the folks who nominated weren’t stat chasers.

  10. I’m just proud to see we got a nomination.  Peabody has so many weapons, and they never play a full 4 quarters.  Their stats aren’t as impressive as they could be if we were forced to play an entire game.   Congrats to all nominees and especially the finalists! They didn’t make it to this stage for nothing.

Sheffield had a bye during week one. They did not have to Forfeit their first game. Never the less, Mickey Marley's Middle School starters could see action during the fourth quarter.

While I know you’re joking about the middle school, I hate hearing that.  I know I heard several teams refused to play us as the schedules were being made. I sure wish our non-region schedule was stronger.  I’d love to see Huntingdon in the mix.  It would be an amazing gate between either schools!

Anyone know why this hasn’t happened yet?

I’m hearing this will be Sheffield’s first game, as they had to forfeit their first game. PHS should roll big

Hate to hear that.....  I’m all about adding new teams to our schedule as needed.  I just would wish for a challenge at least.   We don’t need another Booker T W on the schedule.....  Though I’m glad they flip flopped the schedule.  If we have any injuries, it gives us more time to recover before playoffs.

    Ok? Yea we lost! And?

    Wait I get it now!

    Camden finally won against Waverly.

Yall got spanked the last 4 years! So what!

Dont base your Camden season off this Victory bud! But your a Vols fan so I kinda get it.

Ole rlcombs is a veteran on coacht.    His name has changed slightly, but he’s no newbie fair weather fan.    He’s usually fairly insightful on these games.  He’ll talk trash with the best of them on here, but give him a chance.  He’s usually pretty fair on predictions and opinions on any game.
