Dude, this is going to be very hard. I saw Jolly play for White County and she was extra legit. Ramsey from Shelbyville was out of site. Saw a lot more playing Tennessee AAU Basketball that brought a smile to my face...Go Tennessee Stars, Shelbyville Sport Shop and Ridge Runners.

    HOWEVER,

I am an Oak Ridge guy and we have had several players worthy of this title so I will stick with the Home Girls of VictORy City.

...hard not to go with Nikki Caldwell. The curren t Head Coach at LSU was a star for both Oak Ridge and the Lady Vols.

....The MgGinnis Sisters. Erin, Jennifer, Lindsey were Miss Basketball winners or very close.

...My personal favorite was Two Time Miss Basketball winner Jennifer Wilson. I nicknamed her Miss Automatic. She went on to bring National Attention to the Lady Mocs of UT- Chattanooga.

...The player I am throwing in as the best in Tennessee History is JENNIFER AZZI. Passed over by the Lady Vols,  Jennifer went on to Star at Stanford. Named the NCAA National Basketball Championship Game MVP she then soared to greater heghts. After playing Pro Basketball overseas she played for the USA Basketball Olympic team and was a founding member of the WNBA. Azzi is a member of several Hall of Fames marking each step of her career.

Honorable Mention...the current star at Oak Ridge is Khamari Mitchell-Steen. She is averaging close to 30 points per game., is a very aggressive defensive player, shoots lay ups and 3 balls with equal skill and is a team leader.

What a trip down memory lane, WIllie.  I agree with all off your player mentions.  I will throw out a more recent standout that is one of the best I have ever seen, Crystal Dangerfield.  So much fun to watch!

Unfortunately this team will never have a chance to hoist the gold ball and that’s a shame especially after we have all now found out that this virus rarely affects kids and is not nearly as bad as the media let on. I never got a chance to watch them play outside of the one or two games I seen them at the state tournament. I have no doubt they were one of the elite teams in the history of Class A. The 08-09 Clarkrange team was the best Class A team I have seen. They dominated everyone and it wasn’t close. They didn’t have quite the star power in 2 players but they were very good at every position and they had a deep bench. It would have been a great game without a doubt.

I would take the 08-09 Clarkrange team over the 19-20 Greenfield team and give up 12 points.  That Clarkrange team was by far the best single A team I have seen play. Deep with a capital D!

I'm glad to see that the TSSAA is trying to save these championships for the kids. The TSSAA gets a lot of hate (some of it is deserved), but this does show that they are trying to give these kids a chance to finish what they started.

I don't know if they'll be able to save this thing, but I'm glad to see that they are trying. With the current momentum, it doesn't seem likely that we'll get any more sports until the fall, but we can still hope.

There will be no state championship, there will be no Spring Fling, and unfortunately most likely no football in the fall.  We are way behind this virus!

Starting to think schools may be back in session around the middle of April , so maybe there is a little hope. If people will continue social distancing , we are going to get back much quicker than we may have thought. Ready to get back to normal.

I hope you are correct, but I highly doubt schools will be back that soon.

I listened to Childress’ meeting as it was available to the public. He said that the girls could play in two days and the boys four starting on a Monday and finishing Saturday possibly end of May first of June and the following week the Spring Fling. He assumed an 8 week lay off because of the 10 person rule by the President and he said facilities would be available and this is assuming the country is in better shape. Not hurting anyone obviously on a wait and see approach for all these sports. What are you going to do if it is 90 degrees in mid-April and the curve is spiraling down and you have cancelled these tournaments that could have been played? Nobody knows what is happening a month from now but the man upstairs.

I agree with Reitz.  These games are not going to be played.  Things are going to get much worse before they get better.  People with the virus are walking around completely asymptomatic unknowingly infecting others.  There is no way that any entity is going to consciously bring people together under any circumstances, especially not in this litigious society that we live in.  And even if they did, teams playing in late May after no school or practice for 8 weeks will not remotely resemble the teams that played last week.  It is horrible for all involved, but it is a wrap!

Gentlemen you can add Clarkrange to this conversation. Neither of these two teams could travel to Clarkrange and win. Just like I don’t see Clarkrange traveling there and winning. Now on a different note you can go ahead and hand Clarkrange the gold ball next year.  All their players are underclassmen.

I don't often agree with UCSportsfan, but when I do, it is because he is absolutely correct.  Clarkrange, Loretto and Greenfield were in a different tier all together than the rest of the field this year.  Any of the three could have won the gold ball this year, although I believe Greenfield most likely would have won.  If the tournament is played next year, Clarkrange will absolutely be the odds on favorites to win.

I watched the D2 games and I seen clean basketball with good officiating. Didn’t see a lot of hand checking, body contact  slapping and fouling that has been let go all year in West TN.

Disagree here.  Hand checking called on Thurs but not on Sat.  You better be tough if you want a gold ball!

Watch and see if  Clarkrange Greenfield and Loretto don’t end up in the same bracket!  You know two of them will let’s just hope all 3 don’t.

I guess the other 5 teams should just not show up. If those teams are already considered superior and champions above the rest.

They can show up for the experience, because we have 8 that have to play, but the gold ball Is going home with Greenfield.  Clarkrange and Loretto have an outside chance, but don’t bet a paycheck on it!  I got Greenfield unless Corona-virus hits Weakley County.

Yep. And she could still give the finalists in class A a run for their money today no doubt in my mind. She had an outstanding career at GC and helped win 2 state titles! Back to back. Miss Basketball is a joke. Explain to me how you have a girl that is 70-1 over 2 years , won 2 state titles not win? People must have forgotten,  she played in district 13 AA. At the time the best player in the toughest district in the state from top to bottom. No question.! As far as I know the girl from Westview won. (Won't mention names) who got put out in the simi's and  won it over Heather Butler. I remember. Its miss Basketball for a reason. She was clearly the best player in AA at least her senior year, maybe both seasons. Oh well, doesn't really matter. OVC MVP at least twice. Brought UT Martin to some of its best years ever. Played in 2 NCAA games....I'm pretty sure. Oh yeah, then she went on to play professional ball for a few years. Hands down the best player in AA those 2 years. When politics get involved , it's shameful.

I think the name “Miss Basketball” makes it become more of a “beauty pageant” than the Best Player award.  Butler was robbed, twice.  She obviously was not shopped and promoted enough or to the right people.  She is one of the BEST to ever play at th HS level!  She should have won twice!  Girl could straight up ball!

Lol...Had Kristen Goehring actually played in Saturdays game, there would have been TKA bodies laying on the floor. She was a beast back in the day at Ole Miss.

No question that "Paggs" was the MVP. Her play over the course of the semifinals and finals was simply outstanding. When she had the ball in her hands, "Paggs" was in beast mode. The Blonde Bomber did not have a great game offensively today. Nevertheless, she ran the show with her steady hand. She was taking charge on the floor with her leadership. And when it was the ultimate crunch time, The Blonde Bomber was clutch with the baseline drive. I would also like to extend congratulations to Macey Lee. While she struggled offensively over the last two days, she did what great players always do when they struggle. She kept plugging away while not dwelling on past misses. Lee also topped the 2000 point mark for her career on Saturday. Her final points gave her 2002 for her brilliant career which will now continue at Division 1 North Alabama. Intense was so spot-on with his analysis of a press. It's not always about getting the turnover early. A press is just as effective when it forces and opponent to expend energy at a rate that they do not want to. One of the unsung heroes for TCA over the last couple of days was freshman Carden Vailes. I personally think that she will do great things over the next three years for the Lady Lions. Everyone who played for TCA this weekend made an impact on delivering the gold ball to Windy City Road. Every substitute player that did not get in the game also contributed by pushing our front line players hard everyday in  practice and in preparation for Saturday. I am so proud and happy for each and every one of them. Even though I had to miss a good chunk of the second half of the season due to back injuries, this team, it's coaches, and fans made this season very enjoyable for me. I am forever grateful. I learned lessons from this team on how to face adversity. I will try to use those lessons in the struggles that I will face in the very near future with major back surgery.

This 2019/2020 basketball season was one heck of a ride!

Good luck to you in your upcoming surgery.  If you throw up a ‘goose-egg’ in the first qtr, just know you can still come back and win!

I want to try to get back on topic for a moment and give more kudos to Kings Academy.  First of all, their post players were much better than I thought.  I’m super impressed with #23 who is only an 8th grader.  She is going to be really really good in the next two to three years.  Burgess is also an outstanding player that is very crafty with the ball and can shoot the three.  She ended up being their leading scorer today according to TSSAA stats.  I’ve already said quite a lot about Sullivan but certainly could say more because she is an unreal talent.  What a lot of people don’t realize is that TKA’s legs were worn down in the second half from all the pressure.  TKA did turn it over but not necessarily a lot but they had to work hard breaking the presses and traps which eventually caused them to shoot a much lower percentage in the second half and made some mistakes they might not otherwise make due to fatigue.  The goal with pressing isn’t always turnovers.  Fatigue and quick shots are just as important as turnovers when pressing.  TCA wisely used their freshmen to pressure TKA’s top guards and their Seniors then stepped up and got it done.  Also, kudos to #1 for TKA.  She had a great game and really hurt TCA as they were focusing on the other 2 guards.  Good luck to TKA next year.  I will be shocked if they aren’t playing for a gold ball next year.

Great job preparing your girls all season for Games like these, Coach!  Celebrate tie Gold Ball for a while, then start preparing you girls for next year!

Sorry Croppy, but the fillies fouled on at least 75% of their possessions, loretto may have had a foul that could have been called on 25% of their possessions.

To put this in perspective.  We were out there playing two hand touch while your girls were playing tackle.

Play with what the refs will let you get away with.  That's an understandable approach, and I can't fault your coach one bit for being extremely rough because it definitely hampered Karly offensively (she balled out on defense).  And not just the blatant blows to the face and shoves, she was held on almost every play.  She tried to break away and 22/23 wrapped her hip or held her Jersey 80% of the time.  All of our girls did a great job contributing on offense (although our 3 point shooting was off), but the officials were a travesty, and your assessment of the game is way off.  Our girls know how to play defense.  We also have a lot of height top to bottom that caused y'all problems.  I understand you're supporting your home team.  And I'll look at these past two posts as that, and disregard your obvious altered state of reality during the game.

Agree! Loretto is  far superior in talent to the Fillies.. Huntington was obviously using the “they can’t call every foul” strategy in this game!  Can’t fault you for trying, but the better team won!

You are wrong and your mentality is what is wrong with a lot (not all) of the the younger society. Snowflakes let the bully off the hook even if they go so far as to mock a kid recovering from major surgery. I guarantee you more of your fans believe (like I do) they should take up for themselves and hold bullies accountable than believe (like you do) that the bully should be able to walk away with zero consequences. That only enables the bully and the next kid they attack or mock will get it even worse.

I stand by my statement, if my kid is the one being mocked after a major surgery then I will handle it the old fashioned way not the snowflake way so that it may save the next kid from something even worse.

So you would “sweep the leg,” mr. miyagi?  Very “un-Mr. Miyagi-like!”

A good ball handling night and a good shooting night will get them if they are not careful. Loretto matches up with them real well. They have good height, have good shooters, and the ball handling to do it. Think it is going to be far from a cakewalk.

We can agree to disagree then.  Best of luck to GC!

I sure wish that I was going to be there. However, I have been laid up with a very bad back since the middle of January. I have been fighting this bad back for over a year and I am facing major surgery within the next few weeks. Sadly, I cannot sit in a chair for 2 hours to call a basketball game. It breaks my heart that I will miss it.

I hate to hear that!  Best of luck to you!

I wouldn’t say that. We beat Middleton at state when they had their good talent. They had won 70 in a row or so. I won’t be surprised if they do get beat and it is nothing against Greenfield it is just basketball has some good teams and they have a bullseye on their back. Thought GC kinda punched back at them last night after getting hit in the mouth. They can get beat. I would love one more shot at them in the finals. They got beat last year. GC lost at the state four years ago when we were undefeated. It happens.

When GC beat Middleton, they had an unstoppable guard and an outstanding three point shooter and very similar talent the rest of the way.  GC’s talent is FAR below that of Greenfield.  Greenfield is superior in talent to ALL other single A Schools.  It will take “all 8” non Greenfield participants to win the gold ball!  I got Greenfield in a cakewalk!
