When you directly attack a high school kid, anybody has the right to be defensive. Besides, when was the last time in a state semifinal game did you nail four of five from beyond the three-point line?
And to answer your question from another post, yes Greenfield did beat us back in late November. But I suspect you already knew that. You never did answer a question that I asked of you which was who is your team and where are they playing at this Saturday at noon?
.
Can’t wait to hear your call of the game tomorrow because I don’t think I will be able to make it in person. Good luck to TCA. No way they come out as shaky as they did on Thursday. I think they win by 20. Then softball season officially starts for everyone!

IMO, TCA wins it all. Tipton had their chances, but they were missing the one thing that wins championships, guard play. Tipton did not learn their lesson the three previous times they played trinity, you can’t throw lob passes cross court against an athletic, long team like them. When they were up 12 with 5 to play and tca was in major foul trouble, Tipton had no one that could just put the ball on the floor and dribble it up the court. That is where TKA I’s different, however lightening will not strike twice in that TCA will NOT play as badly as they did in the first qtr, their main scorers won’t be shut down again, their whole team won’t be in foul trouble, and they won’t have 24 turnovers. I got TCA by 10.

My favorite part of coacht is grown men going back and forth with trash talk only to have their meal of “crow” determined by 14 to 18 year old girls. Final four is going to be a fight to the finish. I got the winner of the TCA - Tipton game, most likely TCA. See ya’ll at Lipscomb....bring a big appetite!

I agree completely!!! Just about any coach worth his salt could have taken over a team that has traditionally finished behind multiple area schools with the traditions and history of Bradford, Gleason, Gibson County, Union City, Lake County, ect… (and all their gold balls), and changed the culture to the tune of a state title, undefeated season, multiple Miss Basketball nominee's, DI signee's... well, you get the picture. Add to that, He should have to wear a dunce cap and sit in the corner for losing to that awful team with that Weathers girl (who everyone knows isn't going to amount to much) in the tournament last year! If he doesn't get some advice soon, or a decent assistant coach, he could even wind up losing fifteen or twenty games before he retires if he isn't careful.
Nice first post!!!
SMH...
Great post, Trader!

Ok. I'll join the conversation and add some common sense to this. East TN is extremely well represented and if you think Kings Academy is going to be easy. Someone from the West better do some research. They have a sophomore Guard with 8 Div 1 offers. A sophomore PG that will have many Div 2 offers and a few Div 1 and they beat Lakeway Christian once this year with those guards scoring 55 points combined! They have another very good shooter who is committed to Milligan. They have a solid Top 8 kids . They have Ht. speed and can flat out play. All their losses are against top teams in higher classifications. If Harding thinks they walk in and win by 15.....they will walk home getting ready for the swimming pool to open.
King's Academy will be in the final four with USJ, TCA and Tipton. I think that Tipton may get them in the semi's because as good as those sophomores are, and they are good, sometimes the nerves get younger players on the big stage. Tipton and TCA play for the 4th time for the gold ball. The winner will be determined by how the refs call the game and who gets in foul trouble, if anyone. Going to be fun!

Clarksville Academy is obviously a pretty good team. Beat Goodpasture once this year. King’s Academy looks to be good too. Looks like it is going to get interesting. USJ has to travel Tuesday I believe to Middle TN.
I don't see a team that can compete with TCA. Too long, deep and athletic. Unless they get in MAJOR foul trouble, I think the gold ball comes back to Jackson.

I tell you what, if Greenfield's bus driver keeps getting these girls to their games on time, they are going to win their second Gold Ball in 3 years!

Not do or die. Region basically sets up seeding for substate. All four teams advance. TCA vs USJ for round three of rivalry at 4 pm and then Harding and TRA at 7 pm. Boys play between and afterwards.
This amazes me! Back in the day, and even 10 years ago, if you made it to a substate game you really accomplished something over your season! What a joke that in our "everyone gets a trophy society" you can now win 1 game in the post season and make it to "sub-state!"

Best player in west TN. Whoever gets her gets good one!

I am pretty sure that there is a school that she has her eyes on and is waiting for.

Big 3 for Greenfield showed out but I’d say that the transfer did factor she gives energy and is a spark and hustle player very tough and gritty . It’s not always about points she had some steals and makes plays and shots for other people as do Crouse and bigs. She pushed everyone to get better this year no doubt . Great team with great 6 players with even more off the bench (Just don’t know names) . Also great attitudes with handeling the situation. Great team to watch amazing chemistry and great girls
Greenfield is really good!

Wholeheartedly, Yes! I think 40-45 seconds would be good. Reset to 30 on an offensive rebound.

GC got what they wanted in order to win tonight's game. The big guns did not play well for TCA; however ridiculous turnover after turnover for GC was very uncharacteristic. The team I saw play tonight won't be in Murfreesboro, The team I saw against USJ in the second half, should be. Who are you GC? Should be an interesting rest of the season for them. To me, looks like they need a ball handler to step up and say " I got this for us, follow my lead" and a consistent outside shooter to say "I got your back!" saw neither tonight.

....also I agree based on what I have seen so far. GF will be undefeated when they get to the glass house (unless there is a HUGE flu epidemic in Weakley County that requires their middle school to play the varsity schedule.)

Nobody will beat Greenfield this year! I am calling it now! 32-0 crown them A State Champions now! But seriously I know it’s a lot of ball to be played, GF is definitely on another level right now! I understand anything can happen on any giving night. You never count Gibson County out, because they have one the best coaches in Tennessee. He will find ways to beat you, and he schedules the toughest opponents to get ready for February/March. Summertown is a good team you can’t count out as well. Loretto has been the only team GF hasn’t bet by double digits this year. Single A is loaded!
GC coach better be on his A-game this Saturday when he takes on a tough Trinity team. If I were a betting man, I would lay money down on Trinity beating GC. I just don't see how GC matches up with the length of Trinity's guards nor can they match them in the post. Good thing they moved out of GC's district and into D2. They split with them last year and their freshmen this year replacing thelone graduate last year make them significantly better.
-
Jonesboro was HUGE compared to other teams in west tn, but as another poster wrote they seemed completely disinterested in playing defense. That explains why they have so many losses to me. I just didn't see any hustle on the defensive side of the ball.

The only player in Middle Tennessee that really has a case to be up for Miss Basketball is Keeley Carter from Macon County. Not really much out in East Tennessee... maybe the post player from Sullivan Central...
GC,
You need to edit your signature that appears at the bottom of all your posts to include "2019 Single A State Champs." Didn't ya'll win it all last year?

Congrats to Coach! He has influenced a lot of lives in a positive way while winning all those games! Great man and coach! Good luck the rest of the season! He may just cap it off with a gold ball!

Call me crazy, but I'm taking Loretto by 5. I'll be there to witness it just like the rest of you lol and another thing: how does this Greenfield team compare to two teams I thought were really good: the 2015-16 GC team (with Fields, Lannom and White) and also that 14-15 Middleton team (with Perry, Joy, and Jones)
Don't forget the 15-16 Middleton team that was undefeated until the state semi's when GC beat them. Those were 2 solid teams that would probably have split 5-5 if they played 10 times. I won't say you are crazy but I think Loretto will be on the other side of the 5 points. We will see on Saturday. I will be there with all the rest of basketball fans in West TN.

Some people just like to stir up things and most of those people like to dwell on the negative. We aren’t going to do that. It’s easy to sit back and criticize and complain when you can hide behind a screen name. Please leave the Peterson’s alone, they are fine people. Please let us Greenfield fans enjoy our girls basketball team. Our girls and coaches have worked hard to be where they are today. You want find a closer group of girls that love to play basketball and are great examples off the court than this Greenfield girls team.
Well said! Let's just play some basketball!

I've said it for 3 years...Greenfield will go as far as Chloe Moore goes. She's a playmaker and if I had to pick one girl in 1A high school ball to build a team around, she'd be my #1. She has all the intangibles and can simply take over a game, when she wants to. In 1A, Greenfield definitely appear to be the best from the West.
Agree with you Super. It will be interesting to see where she goes to school next year after she wins the gold ball for Greenfield.

At upperman
At watertown
at Macon
at station camp
all “W”s
look like they are for real but do you ever play a home game?!?
-
1. Greenfield
2. Loretto
everyone else is a distant third. If anyone else wants to compete in this race, you HAVE to step up your guard play or pray these 2 get in major foul trouble. Greenfield just throttled a great tca team loaded with good guards and excellent post players. And I mean throttled on a neutral court!

Agree. Playing like they did yesterday, there were several teams In west TN that would have beaten TCA including GC, Westview, USJ, Greenfield, Crockett and even Huntington. As good as TRA is defensively, they are equally as mediocre offensively. Had they had any guard play, they would have been up 20 plus after the first qtr and then just run clock for the win. Someone said that #12 for TCA was just “throwing the ball up” but if TRA hypothetically had a player like her on their team and TCA also had her, then TRA wins that game going away. She can handle the press by herself and then has numbers offensively. TKA will have their hands full tomorrow because no way does TCA play that bad again.
