  1. I find some of these commits rediculous. Saying these kids quit, gave up, didn't want it. How would you know if they quit. If they did thats on them. They have to carry that burden. The region 4 stuff come on. If someone in region 4 or any ther region is complaining. That one person doesn't speak for the entire region. I have two that wrestled this weekend and didn't make it. But they fought their #### off regardless. Two on the mat at the same time, imagine the stress, imagine the car ride home when one wins and one looses. They've both had knee surgery ,one with a broken leg and torn ligament witch knocked him out of any sports for 22 months. They've wrestled with the flu. They both look like they were in a fist fight. They took a beating and gave a beating. I'm no less proud of them than if they had won a championship. This is more than wrestling, it's more than winning. It's live lessons. But I never heard one of them say I couldn't get it done because I was hurt , had the flu or what ever. They gave 100% and just got beat. Saturday i watched them both take the mat for the last time and hang up their laces. Was very emotional fro the entire family. Good luck to everyone in the finals today. Remember " If you wrestle everyhing else in life is easy".

CBG would be correct, high body fat % for both your boys, I wrestled 170 senior year, we had the 130 pounders dropping to 103 at that time instead of 106. I would figure both your boys played football and such they put on weight for football season and had to drop that when getting back into wrestling. Maybe I am wrong on that, but for my time coaching and wrestling before that, I have 22 years or so in the sport before getting out of it the past few years.

Not arguing either point Cobra. Yes they played FB. We know the rules and know how to cut the right way with out starving. From 10th grade to 11th grade they gained 50lbs and grew 4 inches. My only point was it's not uncommo from what we've seen.

If both your sons cut 30lb this season they must be wrestling in the upper weights and have had a high percentage of body fat.  With the current testing methods being used there is no way a normal wrestler that has been training during the offseason  is allowed to drop 30lb if they don't have a high body fat percentage unless someone is fudging with the test.  Lets also remember that you must be fully hydrated when the test is conducted.  I know what a real weight cut is as I competed at 105lb as a senior and weighed 134 two weeks after the state tournament.  The first day of wrestling practice my freshmen year in college my weight was 143lb.  Now I will admit that I had a growth spurt of 4" and was a very young senior in high school.  The rules today were put in place to keep fools like myself from injuring themselves and to prevent the deaths that took place during severe weight cuts of  some wrestlers a few short years ago.

They were 212, 215. Now at 181 and 192. I know about all the rules and hydration.  Been doing it 13 yrs.

Amen CBG, they cut very little weight and it's not like they much farther to go to keep the weight off before being able to consume whatever they wanted as well as they have 2 extra pounds after Christmas, plus if I am not mistaken 1 lb each day after for the tourney.

Both my boys cut 30lbs this yr. I know of others that have cut 15-20. Ten lbs is very common.

I hope so mr settles, not sure why Wilson is so inconsistent, somedays he looks downright unbeatable(like the pin of mathews) other days he can't seem to get out of his own way, so it makes it hard to pick him to win it all wrestling like that

I didn' realize we know each other Cobra. Wilson has battled injury all yr as with alot of others. This can make for inconsistency. I see Wilson stepping up big this weekend.

  11. I believe Wilson has beaten James last yr and he has beaten Matthews twice this yr. I think he can beat Lemons. Wilson will be on top of the podium. #1 Wilson, #2 Lemons, #3 Matthews,             #4 James. Toss up on the others.

I would say 145, 126, and 132 (in that order).

    145- 7 Returning medalists, 1 returning finalist

126- 5 returning medalists, 3 returning finalists, 2 returning champs

132- 5 returning medalists, 1 returning champ (but so many dark horses)

By my estimation, there are 6-7 kids at 132 that haven't medaled before but are dangerous to the contenders.

    I thing 195 has 4-5 returning also.

You have to win your region this year..

and placed in previous years....if you don’t win, no matter your resume...blind draw

Ok, I got it. Gotta place and win your region for seeding. Other than that you gotta a tough road to battle through.
