This is my two cents about this rule and reading over everything. First of all the kid has never played football before and I can see him thinking , hey if I move over here and go out for this team that had a 1-9 record last year i might have a chance to play even though I've never have before. Seeing this kid had no record of playing any high school sports before how would he know he was breaking a rule. The other thing that comes to mind is when I was in school and for many years Eagleton Junior High had kids going to all four schools in Blount County for spring practice even though they weren't at the junior highs for those four schools so I never thought much of this until now unless they tightened the rules along the line somewhere in the past I didn't know about. To take away this kids chance of playing high school football over a mistake is stupid on the T$$AA's part. Instead of the T$$AA trying to look like Kim jong-un they need to stop and think about trying to get kids out to play sports instead of how to keep them off the field especially during a time where we're seeing attrition at most schools because of parents not wanting allowing junior to take a chance and get a head injury.
I can't see blaming this on the T$$AA, as crooked as they are. All coach had to do was say, come out when school is over and you get enrolled and we'll be happy to have you. Instead, they cost this kid a chance at playing hs football, and for what...spring practice?? This falls squarely on the coach and admin at CHS.

I hear Coach McKamey still thinks he is at a recruiting er I mean private school. Letting a kid that is enrolled & attending classes at Anderson County high school go through full pad spring practices with the Clinton Dragons. Maybe he doesn't remember how public schools work or just said F**k the TSSAA. Mans got some balls!!
Oh my goodness. Well...that didn't take long!

It's not a shock if true
-
I heard that Clinton got handled at the scrimmage. Any truth to that?

Who'd they get?Congratulations to Grace on getting their guy. Heard it's taken so long because the wife isn't sold on the move but hopefully she'll come around soon. East Tennessee is a great place to live.

Agreed. Something must not have jived with him at USJ
-
Is CRB homesick or something? No offense to GCA, but it seems like a step down from USJ.
-
I gotcha. I read it wrong. Agree. New HC has to have his own people, for the most part, for it to work. But it is public education and you you just can't clean house like you can in college. Best of luck to you and your Dragons 92. Maybe you can go to a game again!!

You sayin he's just keeping those guys around only to let them go next year?? And was the staff that bad? Or was it a top down deal?

Catholic would be the smartest choice for Lane if he doesn't get the West job.
-
Don't think it was about finding more students. It was about 6A going from 32 to 56 (or whatever the number is for each classification now), which changed the enrollment numbers for assignment for all 6 classifications.
This. Adding teams to 6A (dumb for this state to have 6 classes but that's another topic) shifted schools around during the realignment. Clinton is one of the smaller 5A schools though.
-
That's true. Remember, Clinton is technically a 4A school playing up in 5A.
According to the numbers, Clinton is 5A

West better hire Lane. Guy is not only a great coach, but a very loyal one. That guy will get them back where they were.

Parents being allowed to be a part of the problem is an issue. I agree with Barney that a good coach would've told those parents that if they're not happy then they can go let little johnny try to play somewhere else. I've heard that the parents at Clinton ARE a big part of the problem. Not all of it, but a big part of it. If those parents know what's best, they should apply for the job. Just my two cents.

Who's on vacation?

Good friend taught at one Knox County school for about 4 years, and every year he got 4s and 5s (with 5 being the highest) on his observations. Next year he went to another school and his obvservations were graded 1s and 2s. You can't tell me that in one year he went from being a top rated teacher to being a poorly rated teacher. That's just not reasonable nor rational to believe.
Point being - as others have said, there are the state guidelines, and then there are more within the KCSS. The KCSS part of it is just too subjective depending on who the evaluators are and what their agendas are.
Schools, just like pretty much everything else in this day and time have become too politicized. It's a real struggle right now, which is why more and more parents are looking in to all educational options - public, private, and home school. The public school system has by and large lost it's purpose, and that's to educate, not indoctrinate and socialize. By and large most teachers are still in it for the right reasons, but those in charge have lost sight of why they are supposed to be there, IMO.
I'll get off of my soap box now.
Amen HTV. AMEN

Any truth to the rumor your coach is considering another job? Heard it from a reliable source. Just wondering if any of you at AC have heard anything?
What other job is he supposedly interested in?

Interesting

Maybe they're keeping them a secret. 🤔
-
Hey hickory, you said the Mavs added some coaches. Can you tell us who they are?
-
Not bad. North Greene will be a bloodbath, but the others are obviously solid.
They must've paid North Greene a hefty sum to get that scheduled. Why would they play a 1A school anyway?!?! Goodness.
-
They better hire the best person for the job and not worry about if he's from Clinton.
+1
-
Who'd they add hickory? And that's unfortunate that those teams couldn't get their schedules worked out to play. Good games there.
