  1. is the tournament single or double elimination?
  2. DC is doing whats best for DC. The banter re: DC playing Boyd has run its course. DC's coaching staff and boys are fighting valiantly for the W. Despite the sweat on their brow, after 25+ games they cant even get a pep rally. signs are literally yanked from the student section. yet the Football team has a fire truck sitting at the end zone. A spade is a spade. The hardworking boys and coaches of DC deserve better support than they're getting. Props to CC, LA and the others for where their programs are at. As a pure BB fan its awesome to go to your schools and see the passion, intensity and support for your programs. To go to CC (a shade over 20 miles away) and not be able to find a seat speaks volumes. One school / administration is committed to supporting all the interest and ambitions of their student body / community.DC will fight and claw its way to the end. W or L, it wont be because of a lack of effort. Props to the winning programs, coaches and players but make no mistake and you know this better than an outsider, your success isn't the result of just one class of players. reference the banners that hang from your rafters. if a few extra games against boyd helps feed the coffers, compensate for a lack of genuine support and give the boys a chance to develop then so be it. you guys go fight giants outside your county, we're fighting a giant of our own, sadly ours is right down the hall from where the boys and coaches ply their trade. #eightaa
  3. District Final Standings Predictions: #1 - LA #2 - CC #3 - UC #4 - Macon #5 - York #6 - DC #7 - Smith #8 - MCM
  4. re: Bone, counted 9-10 boards in the first half alone against a very athletic LA squad. Crashes the boards with authority. Impressed with Eldridge. All these boys are either the benefactors or in some cases can find their skill set rendered less effective because of the particular circumstances they find themselves in. Its clear which players have either been gifted athletically and/or have put in the effort to develop their skill set. Several very good players throughout the District, only 2 elite caliber Teams in the District.
  5. Agree dctiger - Chemistry problems in DC. . .. who will the offense flow through? Torn, who's the better team, LA or CC? Obviously, both at a higher level than the rest.
  6. DC came in prepared and played hard but the turnovers did them in. could almost quantify every turnover as a 4 point swing to CC's advantage. we lost points with every turnover and CC got easy buckets on the other end. overall, it was a win in that we continue to improve. DC isnt going to climb to the top of the food chain overnight. its an incremental process. you can see were the coaches have done a good job working with the boys, building them up and making the right adjustments. lost to the best / most athletic team we've played to date. the boys kept fighting and played hard to the end which is what we've grown to expect from this team. #progress
  7. DC gets the win over MC. Not a pretty win but a win none the less. It was the first time DC won a game in which they were held to less than 60 points. Said another way, all our loses have came when we were held to less than 60. MC had several offensive possessions were they kept the ball for a full minute or more. Making pass after pass, waiting for a missed defensive assignment on our part with the side effect of limiting our offensive possessions. We've got some adjustments to make for those instances were the tempo is slowed to a snails pace. More defensive pressure, generating turnovers. Better all around defense. Seems to me we do better when we are in attack mode. Tenacious D + Relentless Offensive pressure (think Oregon Football) = wins. Can't get bogged down in slow methodical basketball, not our brand of ball. A quick review of LA's schedule: LA has won every game in which their opponent was held to less than 60 and lost every game were their opponent scored more than 60. Comes down to who can: a. perfect a "brand of basketball" b. dictate that brand or tempo on the other guys most consistently (ie LA and CC) play to your strengths. DC has some aggressive scorers. Let the horses run. #shotclockneeded #betterthanwewere #notasgoodaswearegonnabe #magicnumberissixtyone
  8. if the rumors of them coming back are true, there may be some pressure to insert them right away because they're both seniors. I agree with you, too much change this far into the season could hurt more than help. probably in the best interest of the team to ease them into the lineup little by little. . .good to have two more athletes on the team. . . IMO the number one priority should be: Chemistry. . . no need to figure this out in the first game(s) back. . .they've got time to sort it out. . .
  9. my guess is they'll both step into the starting lineup right away. munoz is physical, can handle the ball (likely would've been the PG if Beck hadnt shown up) and plays excellent defense. . . patterson is a good all around player, has a good shot, above average ball handler. . . should see a decline in turnovers with them in the lineup (thank goodness). . . no miracles in our future but we're a better team with them in the line up. . .to what degree, we'll have to see. . .again turnovers should decline and PPG should rise.
  10. true, true. . .where would we be without our fiends from Boyd. lol. . . munoz and patterson are the guys we get back after break.
  11. say what you will about DC's schedule this year but it WAS just what the Dr ordered. with ONE returning starter from last years squad these guys needed an opportunity to develop as individual players and ultimately gel as a unit and they've done just that. their schedule would not have been well suited for a team who's nucleus had been together for 1,2 or more years but again, perfect for them. aside from one blow out loss to LA, DC has been in every game. Compare DC in its first game to DC in its last game and you'll see two very different teams. Mega kuddos to the coaching staff for pushing the boys but at the same time remaining patient with them as they developed. 2 players from last years team who were injured during football season will return after the break. Beck (Guard) and Bone (SF) are a dynamic 1-2 punch. Bone is as good as athlete as you'll find in the District, Beck's growth has been outstanding at the PG position. Manages the game well, can drive, shoot or kick at will. If Bone were strictly a post player he'd be a force to recon with near the rim. Props to the big dogs in the District for where they're at but DC ain't the same team it was a couple months ago. Got there work cut out for them for sure, but there is a "storm a brewin" in DC
  12. hate to go negative but a spade is a spade, that was a horrific coaching job by DC after halftime. only down by 9 at half, it was a competitive game, then the coach mysteriously stops coaching (literally leans back in his chair and spectates) midway through the 3rd. they go on to lose by 30???? the boys deserved better than that
