  1. 6 total turnovers in this game. Both teams played sloppy. William Blount ran the ball well. Bearden did whatever it wanted through the air. Let the excuses rain in.
  2. Well I was feeling like we might get a win tonight, but with the wave of momentum the govs have and all of the fan support, I'm getting a little nervous. I hope the bulldogs can hang in there with em. Maybe we can pull the upset.
  3. Bearden's not great. We're not William Blount. Dawgs by 21.
  4. Maryville @ Science Hill Bradley Central @ Jefferson County William Blount @ Bearden Hardin Valley @ DB I'm going: Maryville Bradley Central Bearden DB
  5. Won't be close. I'm not a huge advocate for chaining together score comparisons, but we beat Karns 50-7. Farragut can play ball. Huge respect to that ball team. Farragut has a chance to have a special year this year. Good luck the rest of the way with health. This game will be ugly.
  6. I think it will be higher scoring on both ends. Not a chance Bearden scores only 14. Farragut is the better team this year I believe unfortunately, but Bearden won't be running the Wing-T. Should be a fun game for the fans to watch in my opinion. Wouldn't be surprised if the scoreboard gets lit up in this one.
  7. Couldn't stay with HVA? It was 24-21 Bearden late in the 3rd. Not trying to be like Gov91, but the HVA game was an actual game. Hardin Valley was the better team, without a doubt, but it wasn't a blowout like you suggest. I'm not a fan of the idea that rivalries actually matter, but the Bearden/Farragut game is actually a rivalry. These kids know each other well. I'm just saying I wouldn't anticipate a blowout like some might suggest. I watched a team who scored 135 points the entire season last year score 37 of those points in the Farragut game alone. Wrong or right, the kids from both sides play harder in this game.
  8. Although I think Farragut has the better overall team, remember that the gap between last year's Farragut and Bearden teams was much greater than it is this year. Bearden's offense scored in the 30's last year on Farragut. I'd be careful in saying that it's a 45-7 football game. This is a completely different Bearden offense.
  9. Dobyns-Bennett @ William Blount Jefferson County @ Maryville Science Hill @ Bradley Central Bearden @ Hardin Valley
  10. Bearden 2-0 over understandably weak teams vs. 0-1 Hardin Valley with a loss to a pretty good team. 1st region matchup for both teams. Maybe this game will be relevant enough to have some posts on. Who ya got?
  11. Regardless of suspension appeals, Clinton is just a better team. You guys will do whatever you want on them offensively. Get up early on them, they'll quit.
  12. Hahaha. Dragon, sounds like you guys had a tough one with Oak Ridge. How's the health of the team? I thought you guys may fly a little under the radar this year. You guys were a class act in the scrimmage we had. Hope you all have a great year.
  13. Here's my take for what it's worth. Karns' starters look real good. The kid that's going to OK State looks like it. The problem is that Karns has no depth. Bearden has switched to kids only going 1 way this year. Karns was tired. Also not even the same team this year offensively that they were last year. Have alot of confidence. Playing smarter and more disciplined too. 0 Turnovers last night, and #10 can throw the ball. The staff is alot different, but that's been talked about on another thread. Bearden's much improved this year. I just hope the young men can get a second win before they get into a tough part of the schedule.
  14. Would like to hear you guys' thoughts on how this one may shape out. Bearden just had a nice first game against (Karns I Know) and looking for another W. Powell coming off of being dominated by Farragut. What does Powell have? I know Powell doesn't have a huge presence on here, but maybe some Farragut people can add some insight as well.
  15. I do realize this probably isn't one of the biggest games of the week seeing as how both teams combined for 1 win last year, but I would like to get an idea of how you guys see this game going? I know Karns has some serious athletes on the perimeter with the OK State commit. Hopefully we can pull one out.
  16. Scrimmaged South Doyle Friday. 3-1 in 1st team action. Should be a good matchup this Friday. Let's just hope every one stays healthy and it's a good scrimmage making both teams better!
  17. Looking forward to getting off of work and watching the Dragons and Bulldogs square off this Friday!
  18. Bearden had a good showing at South Doyle. Much improved from the spring. In the spring, South Doyle beat Bearden I think 3 or 4 to 1 when the first teamers were on the field. Friday night, Bearden reversed that and beat SD 3 to 1 during first team action. Forced 2 turnovers. Line looked cohesive. Ran all over SD with a good little RB. Bearden's QB is really really good guys. Obviously SD lost a lot, and I'm not calling for a 9-1 resurgence this season, but with the new changes on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball in coaching Coach Shinlever has made, it is quite apparent Bearden will be much improved this year. I'd say 5th or 6th in the new conference. Clinton this Friday. Should be fun to watch.
  19. Bearden goes to South Doyle this Friday and Clinton the next. When I find out the times, I will post. Gonna guess 6.
  20. Yeah, I probably shouldn't have said extremely well. When you sit through a season like Bearden did last year, it's all relative. I should have just said, "way better." I would agree with you though on your observations from the scrimmage.
  21. Good first scrimmage of the spring it seemed for both teams. Good energy, but surprisingly very clean with not a lot of penalties. I liked how the refs were there already. If I were to say who WON the scrimmage, it would have to be South Doyle. Anyone who's been around football and these scrimmages though kind of know how they work. They were doing something like 10 or 12 plays a piece and switching. You also don't know as a fan, when coaches substitute either, so i didn't really know when the first teamers or second teamers were in. South Doyle had 2 REALLY long runs about half way through the scrimmage for scores and an interception returned for a touchdown for their first score. Bearden, from what I could tell had 1, but had a couple of drives end inside the 20 because of the play rule I guess. As far as the Bearden offense, they ran the ball extremely well. They only had probably a couple of 15+ runs, but were moving the ball consistently down the fields in what a game would equate to first down drives. The passing was a little off it seemed, but there were several completed short, medium, and long throws. NO FUMBLES! Overall, the major differences in this year: the offense is much more disciplined, and will be much more productive, they seem to know what to do, the offensive line and running game is drastically better (they may have reached their season total from last year just in the scrimmage). When Bearden gets its boys back from track and baseball, and with the couple of transfers I'm hearing are coming, they will win ball games. They will be far from being the bottom of the league this year.
