I don’t remember beating your Lions. They are always well coached and shoe up to play. Yes TCA has been a problem for my Tornadoes.

The last two meetings UC has won. One of those wins UC gained 491 yards rushing. Basically right up the gut. The last meeting was close but the power game took over. Curious to see see how these young lions respond. I do Know these young guys will fight. They are kind stubborn. But also they are so young they don’t know any better.

Sounds good. How y’all looking this year? TCA has always been a problem for us

Not sure we have always been a problem for you guys. We are more like a pesky nat that just won’t go away. Your power game is what our young ones are going to have to try to control. Y’all be safe in travels and pray for no injuries.

I regret that I did not answer the most obvious question.

    Why not play this week?

Allow me to offer our explanation. Coach Stowe called me Tuesday around noon. I’d rather not share specific information within our program, but I can be general enough to perhaps provide enough clarification. If we played Friday night, we would be without 6-9 key players (a few would have been game-time decisions). Our streak will end one day, but we will not give it away by playing a very good football team (with almost zero preparation) and some of our best players unavailable. We were (and still are) willing to play opponents who would have talent similar to talent we would have been able to put on the field. I gave Coach Dilfer and a few other schools the same answer. There is no question in my mind that, given some inside information which I won’t disclose, every coach would have made the same decision to decline games with Dyersburg, Lipscomb, Oakland, etc.

A team will end the streak. It was almost the best player in the country who did it. If it would’ve happened last Friday (against Westview), so be it. We were fortunate and they almost did it. We will not give this streak away. It will be earned by an opponent. When that day comes, our players and coaches will shake hands and sincerely be proud for that team and their community.
Streak or no streak, we’re not putting younger and much less experienced  players on the field against a high quality football team like the teams I mentioned above. Doing that would be a completely irresponsible way to run a program. I understand playing Friday seems obvious, but there are decisions that head coaches make who have information about which no one else knows. We’re certainly not always right, but we do the best we can to be as thorough in our decision-making process as possible.

That’s all that was needed to be said by the Peabody fans in the know on here. No one would expect a team to enter a game on short notice 6-9 key players down. People can respect that decision. Those are just facts. But that is why this is a conversation board and peoples opinions are made on here whether they are correct or not. Thanks for the explanation and good luck with the rest of your season.

No I am the Gold Doctor of old.  Nothing to hide here.  I have always respected your post, but you somehow have changed your attitude toward our program.  Maybe you guys don't recruit, so I'll take that back. Good luck the rest of the way.  Insults don't bother me, its part of the sarcasm on the T

Attitude has not changed. It’s just the beating of the tide drum is getting a little redundant.

You really showed your true colors by mentioning Alcoa playing up.  With the Athletes they recruit, they should play up to 5A.  Didnt they beat Maryville some years?  So you are a fan of recruiting? Not a suprise.  When TCA gets it's recruiting up, post at me again.  Stop drinking that Hatorade dude!

Dude get facts straight on the TCA recruiting. If we did we would not be where we are as a program. Come on man. And my true colors have always said the public’s are the best recruiters out there. Open enrollment no tuition. Easy sale. Or hey come play for us and pay 1000.00 a year. Go back to beating your chest. And no your not a newbie. You have been around by your true color comments.

Peabody has nothing to prove.  Let the big schools play the big schools.  We have just played, win or lose 2 schools twice our size.  I don't think Alabama would play the Tampa bay Bucs if given the chance!

Then don’t beat your chest all the time on how y’all play up. Go play Dyersburg.  Oh wait now you not going to play up with them now. Don’t get on the T in August and talk of nothing to prove. I guess That’s why y’all dropped to 1A. And don’t give me the numbers dictate it. Milan went up on their own to 4A. Yes maybe to avoid Alcoa. But guess what Alcoa for years played up. Their numbers dictated 2A. So the only I see Being  proven is that Peabody is concerned with the streak at all cost.

Peabody is a good team but Lipscomb is on a different level.  It would not be close and the Dilfer man does not let up.  Only about 10 teams in the state could give Lipscomb a good game.

I agree Also. Plus peabody does not want to chance ending that win streak with a beat down. It would hurt peabody in the long run

Things that have happened since Peabody lost

Elon Musk scandal for securities fraud

    Facebook hacked

    Bill Cosby convicted

Someone will beat them eventually...it may be a while, and it may not stop them from winning another three or four gold balls in a row.

Bill Cosby convicted and overturned and released.

None of the shortcomings at Liberty were the fault of Turner nor Hookfin...lesser coaches wouldn't have fared nearly as well as either of them in that situation. People can kick 'em now that they're down, but they were much feared when Turner was steering the ship.

School district have a hand in the downfall. Kids will gravitate to to the more supported community. Open enrollment will do that. Just wait for JCM in a few years. That will be the new shinny new toy that the kids will go to. I know I am Private but when everyone wants to do a self check, open enrollment is the root to a lot of the problems.

  10. Well the experts have spoken so I will Throw in my two cents. I was Very proud of the lions last night. Our one legged boys came in and held their own. I agree Intense the kicking game will come around and be fine. #4 looked like Pony 2.0.  The younger guys stepped up also. These guys showed heart and fight and that’s all I wanted To see. The X’s and O’s Will come. Great game good luck Cardinals the rest of the season.
