  1. This will get ugly in a hurry no matter how we play. No offense intended but MC is a below average team in 3A and we are 5A.
  2. Sorry, I don't even have a kid on this team. I proudly wore the Green and Gold and I do have a family member on the team but no kids yet. I just know if we don't get some things changed and fixed we are looking at all being free for Thanksgiving.
  3. Double Eagle is right. Nothing against Baylor but when you bobble or fumble 5 snaps you aren't going to beat anyone. I don't know if that was the center the QB or both, but we won't beat a decent team at the 5A level the way we played last night.
  4. We can't lose this one even if we play as poorly as we did last night. I hope rather than just do what we did last night and beat them because MC is just not a quality team and is a much smaller school, we actually make the necessary changes to get prepared for the rest of the season.
  5. Pathetic and extremely disappointing. If we play this as poorly as we did last night, don't change some personnel, and don't change some schemes, we will end up 4-6.
  6. Rhea is overrated??? We have a tight end that has already committed to Memphis and has around 20 D1 scholarship offers, one running back that already has over 2800 career rushing yards, another running back that rushed for over 1000 yards last year, two offensive tackles that are over 6'3,two offensive lineman that weigh over 300, an offensive and defensive lineman that is a 3 year starter, and I could go on and on. This is a very talented football team that knows how to win and has lots of kids that have played in very big games. Overrated, I don't think so!
  7. Alright Eagle fans, it's here! Let's hear it! How are we going to do?
  8. From what I saw against East Hamilton, we are getting better. I heard last night that Simon's arm is broken so that will hurt us on the defensive side of the ball and he is one of our better back-up running backs. I hope that is wrong and he is back very soon. I would like to see a little more excitement and see us playing with more emotion. We have the talent and ability to have a very good season but we really have to find a way to keep our kids healthy. I don't know what the answer to that is, but we do not have enough depth at some spots to lose anybody. I hope all those playing tonight and tomorrow night have a great Jamboree and stay injury free. Go Eagles!
  9. I thought we looked pretty good in the scrimmage. We handled Fulton pretty well and was pretty even with Cookeville. I don't know what most would call the score but just counting the score with the 1s playing, we tied Cookeville and beat Fulton by an extra point. Lots of kids saw playing time and should have gained some good experience. If we keep improving and a couple of holes get fixed, we will playing deep into the fall. We have one of the best coaching staffs in the state and I have no doubt we will be ready to go come playoff time.
  10. From what I saw, Rhea totally shut down Fulton with the exception of one long pass on the last play and ran the ball at will. Cookeville was much more evenly matched when Rhea was on defense. We intercepted a pass and they had a TD called back. We did not move the ball very well against Cookeville because they did a good job of jamming up the middle. I'm only talking about when the number 1s were playing. I thought all 3 teams looked good and should be competitive all year long. Fulton will have a very good year in 4A, if we keep improving we will go deep in the playoffs, and Cookeville should compete in their region. Good luck guys!
  11. I don't care if we move up, down, or sideways. Rhea County is going to be competitive and win a bunch more than we lose. We always have. We went to the dance when there were only 3 classifications total and we went in 2A and 3A. That was before I was born but it don't make any difference. Folks said we were winning because we were in an easier district and that we'd have trouble last year. Well, it don't look that way to me. It don't matter who we play. We are Rhea County and we are going to win and we'll have lots of folks to watch it happen. I didn't get the chance to play Maryville but I hope my younger bro does next year. We saw our Middle School beat theirs last year and I think we can beat them next year with the good group of Jrs we got.
  12. Well folks, it's here! Rhea travels to Knoxville on Friday for a 3-way scrimmage with Cookeville and Fulton. What does everyone think? Cookeville can be somewhat of an unknown but generally they are not up to the level of Rhea and certainly not of Fulton. Fulton is usually very physical and will have some athletes. I think we beat Cookeville by a few touchdowns and Fulton will be close.
  13. My brother told me that we also lost a couple of incoming Freshman to Baylor. A receiver/DB from Rhea Middle and a LB/RB from Spring City and that one of the good backs from Rhea Middle is now going to Meigs. I'm not sure why so many of these kids aren't playing. I can't imagine not wanting to be an Eagle. I miss playing everyday.
  14. I could disagree with a couple of spots here or there but I think you evaluate these players pretty good. It will be interesting to see how hard these boys work this summer and how they come along these next couple of months.
  15. Very good analysis of the spring. One thing that hurt against Oakland was a few players having to be on both ends of the field. It's great that they got so many reps, but that kept them from being able to keep kids fresh in some positions and got them out of the rotation they had going on defense that worked so well in Alabama. But again, this was a spring scrimmage and it was great that so many players got so much work in. A couple of other upcoming freshman to watch are Beeler who played linebacker for Rhea Middle and Jackson Langley (sp). Jackson was the FB/LB that played so well for Rhea Middle last year on their team that went undefeated. Also, Ross Pendergrass, QB, will be fun to watch as well.
  16. Rhea is playing better than they have all year. The defense is playing lights out and three different running backs had over 100 yards rushing Friday against Soddy. The only question is will there be a running clock by the 4th quarter.
