I wonder what percentage the TSSAA gets of these playoff tickets, and what the schools get. Do any of you know? I think the Patriots will come out victorious Friday night, but I do see Ridgeway being a handful. Depth and coaching will win out in the second half. 21-13 at the half, 35-13 final. They’ll hit a couple of big plays in the first half, one on special teams, but we make the halftime adjustments needed to shut them down after that. That’s my prognostication. GBR
I believe T$$AA gets 50% and the schools split the other 50%. could be wrong and traveling team gets a little more but I would be it is close to this.

What if Team A lines up for a long field goal.
The ball falls way short and comes to rest in the field of play, say at the 5.
Does Team B take over at the 5?
Or at the original line of scrimmage?
Or is it a live ball, like on a kickoff?Team B I believe takes over at the 5.

What is happening on Trenton Rd? Saw them play Rossview and was shocked at things that happened during the game.
I think there is still a lot left over from last year which was a good year playing wise just not showed record wise because of penalty. Not much discipline and I think the new coach is working on it but it is taking time.

Update for Week 6
Undefeated Teams remaining in 5A
Gallatin, Beech, Knox Central, Powell, Summit, Knox West, David Crockett, Rhea Co.
Region games to Watch this week
Knox Central vs Knox Halls
Page vs Summit
Hillsboro vs Beech
Region 1 vs Region 2
Region 1
Cherokee suffered its first loss to Elizabethton. Cherokee still leads the region and should handle Cocke Co. setting up a big show down with David Crockett Oct 11. Crockett is enjoying a bye week. Tennessee and Daniel Boone are still in position to challenge Cherokee and David Crockett in the coming weeks.
Region 2
This week we will start to see movement for the top spot. Knox Central takes on Knox Halls in a big region 2 showdown. Winner of this game will put themselves for not only a home play-off game, but a chance to take on South Doyle for the region title in near the end of the season. It will be interesting to see how Halls bounces back after the beating they took against Powell. The race for 4th could be very interesting between Gibbs, Carter, and Sevier Co. This race will play out over the next 3 weeks with Gibbs playing Sevier Co this week and Carter on Oct 25th.
If the playoffs started Friday (based on current standings)
Cherokee vs Gibbs
Knox Central vs Tennessee
David Crockett vs Knox Halls
South Doyle vs Daniel Boone
Region 3 vs Region 4
Region 3
The big match up this week in this region is Oak Ridge vs Karns. WIth a win for Oak Ridge will secure a post season birth. If Karns wins then things get interesting. I would have to check tie breakers, but Karns may also get into the playoffs with a win. Potential we could have 3 teams that all beat each other at 3-3 in region play between Oak Ridge, Campbell, and Karns. I can't wait for Oct 18th when Powell takes on Knox West.
Region 4
There is only 1 region game this week between Walker Valley and Lenoir City. However, it is an important one for the playoff race, the winner will secure 3rd place. For Walker Valley if they win will get a shot for possibly a 2nd place finish if Rhea beats Soddy in a few weeks. Rhea has a big non-region game with a old rival in Ooltewah Friday. Soddy gets poor Hixson Friday.
If the playoffs started Friday (based on current standings)
Powell vs Lenoir City
Soddy Daisy vs Oak Ridge
Knox West vs Walker Valley
Rhea Co. vs Campbell Co.
Region 5 vs Region 6
Region 5
This week we will see who will take the lead for the region championship. Summit host Page in a big showdown. The battle for post season play between Shelbyville and Lincoln Co. will also take place Friday. A win by either will almost secure a playoff birth. For Lincoln they need to win Friday. For Shelbyville they can lose Friday, but still would have a chance to make the playoffs later down the road.
Region 6
With Glenncliff dropping the rest of their season. That pretty much sets the 4 playoff teams with Gallatin, Beech, Hillsboro, and Hunters Lane. The winner of Hillsboro and Beech will all but secure a home playoff game.
If the playoffs started Friday (based on current standings)
Summit vs Hunters Lane
Beech vs Columbia
Page vs Hillsboro
Gallatin vs Lincoln Co.
Region 7 vs Region 8
Region 7
Henry took care of business against Kenwood. Dyer Co. edged out Clarksville this past week. This week we will see a couple match-ups with playoff implications. Dyer taking on Northwest and Clarksville hosting Northeast. I do believe after looking at who remains on Clarksville's schedule they can make the play-offs. They just have to win and they should win.
Region 8
Ridgeway took down Southwind this past Friday putting them in the driver's seat for the region title. This week Munford could make it interesting if they can some how knock off Ridge way to force a 3 way tie for 1st. Kirby just needs to keep winning and they are in the playoffs at this point.
If the playoffs started Friday (based on current standings)
Henry Co. vs Kirby
Southwind vs Kenwood
Dyer vs Munford
Ridgeway vs Northwest
I believe based on Friday night and what is to come Clarksville will be #3 in Region 7 while and face Southwind as of right now. I am not looking for a good night on Friday for my Eagles.....Too many people leaving the team.
-
I believe after this week the schedule for HC gets A LOT EASIER!!!!!!!! They then start playing the Montgomery County schools. The hardest game after Friday night will be against Germantown. NE not looking too good this year. Lost a lot from last year and are having some growing pains.

Congrats Jackets. Good to see you all heading in the right direction.
As for my Cats. That was one of the most pathetic games I have ever watched. There was more mistakes and penalties than good plays. (And how does the punter get sacked?)
After watching NE went home to watch the taped version of the game. Not good at all. Giving that much responsibility to someone who has not played in the games before had was not a good Idea. Yes the QB has a strong arm but needs to understand the concepts and the offense. Can't just throw it deep when the freshman is in there. Have to let the other QB throw some also. Also talking about special teams punting usually when that is done you tell the punter to make sure you kick it away when you are that close to the endzone. Then throwing with 3 minutes left and you are across the 50 going into score. Too early to throw deep there. Run some more. What are the thoughts from people who were there. I know it is different watching on TV than in the stands.

Wk.2 - Class 5A - Region 7
Clarksville (1-0) @ Springfield (0-1)
Northwest (1-0) @ Greenbrier (0-1)
Dyer County (1-0) @ Obion County (0-1)
West Creek (1-0) @ Montgomery Central (1-0)
Henry County (0-1) @ Beech (1-0)
Northeast (0-1) @ Evansville Reitz (0-1)
Kenwood (0-1) vs. Oakland (1-0)
I will go with the following this week:
CHS but it looks like the offense will need to do something this week.
Northwest after West Creek beat Greenbrier
Still no Nothing about Dyer but will go Dyer Co. in this one
Montgomery Central.....too much option offense
Henry Co. will get the kinks worked out
Hopefully NE can pull out the victory this week. keeping my fingers crossed.
Oakland by a large margin in this one.

Football is upon us. It's time to see what the off-season has produced.
Here are this week’s games. Let's hear your predictions.
Wk.1 - Class 5A - Region 7
Henry County @ Haywood
Clarksville vs. Rossview
Northeast @ Riverdale
Northwest vs. Hunters Lane
Kenwood vs. Hopkinsville
West Creek vs. Greenbrier
Dyer County vs. Crockett County
Taking the following:
Henry Co. Just because
Clarksville.....Rossview looked horrible in jambore could NOT tackle. CHS by 35+
Riverdale...Think NE lost too much from last year and is rebuilding this year unfortunately.
Northwest...Looked good in the jamboree except they were playing Rossview
Hopkinsville...haven't seen much of either team here just going off of past circumstances
Greenbrier...Not many players on WC....either quit or not out playing. Could changes be coming?????
Because I don't know anything about these two teams I will go with Crockett Co. because of the others picking.

Hopefully he can find a good OC and DC. NE lost a lot last year but they still have a lot of talent left.
Ex hawk?
I don't think RL even got an interview for HC. Seems like a lot of burned bridges. Some are correct he didn't beat MC. but what did he do his last few years here? Can't base what kind of coach he is off of one game. Will be interesting to see who is the new OC and DC.
-
I think the following:
1. HC (Top of the class until beat)
2. Dyer
3. CHS (lost a lot on Offense)
4. Kenwood
5. NE (Lost a LOT all over the Place and New Coach)
6. NW (New Coach)
7. West Creek (Building is a continual thing. May have a good group coming in)

I stayed in clarksville when I was younger and went to rossview middle but never heard of west creek in my life. What side of town is that school on?
By Kenwood. School is only about 10-12 years old.

True but when I said talent, I meant not just skill guys but lineman to. I know some Clarksville schools don’t always have big huge lines like HC most years, but if your a good enough coach you’ll scheme up something that will get 5 or 6 wins if your having a down year.
True against teams that have about same talent on the line as your team. The three teams in Clarksville: RHS, CHS, and NEHS usually have the best lines and records. NW, Kenwood, WCHS usually don't and have the worst records.

West Creek had good talent this year, but last year they looked great but could only win 5 games. I would say Kenwood might have close to the best talent in town and will only win 4 games this year. I watched Northwest this year and they had good talent but can only win 2 games. I think almost every year all Clarksville teams have good talent but only a few have good coaches. Heck even the academy had good talent this year and will only win 5 games. But like every year the teams with the most wins like CHS,NE,MCHS,RHS have better coaching not always better talent.
Talent doesn't mean much without a Line. You can have all the talent in the world and not win many games because you don't have a line that can create holes and block for them. Just because you have skill talent doesn't go to being a great team. Some of the better coaches may not win many games because they don't necessarily have the DL/OL to help their team.

Montgomery County power rankings
1.Northeast
2.Clarksville High
3.Montgomery Central
4.Rossview
5.Clarksville Academy
6.Kenwood
7.Northwest
8.West Creek
what are your thoughts?
Do any Clarksville teams make it past the first or second round of the playoffs this year?
Predictions for next season?
How many coaching changes in the offseason?
I would say Northwest,West Creek will probably have new coaches. Also I think our neighbor to the west Stewart County will have a new coach.
only 2 teams I see making it out of first round would be Montgomery Central and CA.
I think there will be one team looking for a new coach which will be Northeast. Hearing he may be leaving on his own.
I believe CHS loses most of its offense especially on the OL, WR's and QB. They return most of its defense.
Northeast loses a lot of offensive production and leadership(whether you think its good or bad).
How each of these two teams can get QB's ready and replace offensive skill will be the question. Same goes for CA on offense.
RHS loses some but not like last year. They may be the team to beat in the city next year. Hopefully. Still have to get a win in that first contest. Haven't been able to do that the last 2 years.
Also will have to see who moves up or down because of the 20% enrollment figure.

He's right. 2,950. We should be 7A (AAAAAAA). Somebody notify the TSSAA.
So Grove HS is just for 9th graders correct? and Henry Co. is for 10-12? So combine them at 1600 students enough to be moved up.

Not sure where or why #6 would leave NE in December. He is a senior. No reason for him to leave. I can see the coach leaving after season looking for other jobs, but that is a natural occurrence & part of the profession.
sorry I should have said Graduate early to move on to college.

You know the way NE handled themselves is exactly why they won't be a championship level team anytime soon.
hearing their coach may be leaving at end of season going on to other jobs. Especially since #6 may be leaving in December.

HC coaches have had two, really three weeks to prepare for this one because they didn't have to do anything to get ready for West Creek. That's all that needs to be said. I don't care how bad you "want" it...I want a million dollars, BAD, but that doesn't necessarily mean I'll get it. Bottom line is that HC is better coached and more disciplined, HC 35 NE 20
I agree HC is a lot more disciplined and for that reason alone they will have a lot of penalties that will keep them from winning the close games. If they get behind it will get worse because they know they have nothing left to play for. No Playoff spot if they lose.
-
Rossview has gotten better each week but still does not have the horses to compete against the top teams in the district. Coach has done a great job each year getting better during the season. Just needs to get the 1st game to a win.

Actually everybody knows who turned them in. My name is 931Truth and I’m telling nothing but the truth. You guys are right Gary Shepherd has no ties to any program and is not coaching anymore, so why would he turn a school in ? He just can’t stand that he’s one of the worst football coaches to ever touch the city of Clarksville. Him and his good old friend Terry Arrington have been running around Clarksville ruining programs. Let me remind you they are the same two who turned CHS in 2015 and did it again this year . Look at Sheppy’s comments he was begging for the paper to release an article on here before it even was made public. He loves the drama selling nasty over priced steak isn’t enough for the old guy. Either way Northeast has one of the best teams in 5A. They have the potentional to win out. Gary Shepherd enjoy your retirement stop trying to ruin’s Clarksville’s success there’s a reason your not a coach. You should be ashamed of yourself.
You have no Idea of the truth then. You want to blame something on him that is fine. Just don't make it for something he didn't do. It seems like you have an issue with him. Take it up with him. If the adults at NE did their jobs correctly then they would not be in this mess. Where did the kid transfer from? Who did they play this past week? All coaches and AD's should know the rules as when you do eligibility it is a question you have to answer. If they did not play a varsity sport at your school last year and they transferred in then you better cross your t's and dot your i's so something like this doesn't happen.

It’s crazy this stuff only happens in Clarksville, Tn. What’s amazing is this only happens because of one person In Clarksville, Tn by the name of Gary Shepherd aka “Sheppy”. He’s the one who turned in Northeast High this year, and in 2015 him and his partner Terry Arrington turned in Clarksville High in 2015 when they starter 4-0. Let me remind these are the same two who turned it in again this year. Got one question Gary “Sheppy” Shepherd... What thrill do you get out of this? Does this make you feel better about being one of the worst coaches/ mentors(Nobody would call you their mentor) in Montgomery county? Or is it because you just can’t stand not being of part of any greatness ? You did it to CHS because you and Terry Arrington couldn’t buy a win with the loads of talent you had at northeast. Like you really reported this jumped on coacht and started a message board before the paper could come out with an article. As you guys can see he really loves ruining Clarksville’s football success all because he can’t be a part of it. Kids in this city put in all this work and you love snaking programs in the route to making history. Stick to running your restaurant in downtown Clarksville “Edwards Steak House” (Its Pretty Gross and over priced) ! . Your the biggest fan of Northeast! Been watching all the success and the same individual whose trying to ruin it. This mans a snake to the city of Clarksville athletics .
931Truth you have no idea who turned them in. I can tell you without a doubt it wasn't Sheppy. If you have a problem with him come out and give your name so you and him can get together. If the people in charge at the school did their job this would not have happened. If someone transfers in without changing addresses then that should send up red flags for admin.

word from across the river is this is the year that CHS is going to put a whoppin' on ole HC. Getting people back from injury. Think it should be a good one. Hopefully RHS does well tonight. Hood maybe getting it turned around. He just may not be able to do a great job in the first game of the season but seems to pick it up after that.

Ok, Time Out on the field!
Clarksville's wins are over: 6A Rossview (2-1), 4A State Runner-Up Springfield (2-1), and a long road trip to Lewisburg, MS (1-2)
While NE's wins are over: N. Hardin (1-2), McCracken County (1-2), and Kenwood (1-2).
Clarksville has beaten some good teams
But NE has yet to be tested, and they are far from being in the same class as HC.
Every team changes from year to year. Looking at this years CHS team is much better overall than last years. Rossview lost a lot as did Springfield. NE has a lot back. They will play each other. It will all be good.

in Class 5A & Class 6A

you are right not only do they pay refs but have to pay security also. Home team can lose lots of money if the visiting team does not bring very many fans. Traveling team at least can break even and maybe make very little depending on the transportation they take. It is definitely in T$$AA favor.
