How was the officiating yesterday in the Boro?

The Cheatham /Grainger game I thought was called very well.  I really like the fact they weren't quick on the whistle with loose balls.  Allowed the kids to play early and get into the tempo of the game.  Didn't get caught up in to the runs by either team and start calling it super tight either way.  Of course, as a fan, I see every call they miss for my team and ignore the ones they miss for the other.  Overall, they did a good job.

  2. Seems I was off by 2.  Cheatham put together a 3rd quarter and East never recovered.  It also hurt that the ridiculously athletic girl went down with a knee injury early in the game.  That obviously had an impact as she was blocking shots left and right.  That said, Cheatham will have the loser of Marshall/Creekwood.  We got CW earlier in the year by almost 30, but I think it may be a bit different 2nd time around.  How does Cheatham match up with Marshall Co.?  I have only seen them play once....last year in the sub-state at our place that got out of hand late, if I remember right.

  3. I think the same thing.  In the East/WH Heritage game, East seemed to get impatient with disciplined defense, allowing WHH to keep the game close, finally winning by 9.  Cheatham had a running clock the last time they played WHH, if I remember correctly.  Granted, East has better athletes but I kind of question their basketball IQ.  I think Cheatham gets this one by 10 to 15 pts.

  4. Cheatham vs Pearl Cohn

    Maplewood vs Westmoreland

    East vs Greenbrier

    WH Heritage vs MLK

I'm a Cheatham fan, so my bias will show.

Cheatham will win by however much they want

Westmoreland could give MW fits or they could get boat raced.  Depends on which Westmoreland team shows up, but I think MW gets them big.

East when they get off the bus

WH Heritage and MLK I have no idea about.  Cheatham got Heritage by 30 last night.

I think EN will be just fine. They have split with Nolensville and MW is a cross town rival. The Sycamore game surprised me a little but it was right after the break. Even with the two losses (Nolensville and MW) they have beaten some pretty good AAA teams in tournaments such as Rossview and Beech.

Of the two you mentioned, ironically, Cheatham has lost to both of them.  I didn't see the Rossview game.  My kid said the coach took the blame on that one, overlooking RV to get ready to play UHS.  Beech was solid.  Their PG is legit.  Of coaches I talked to, small to mid major talent.  I don't know if Cheatham will be tested again this year, as their district is down.  Westmoreland looks to be the best competition, but we beat them by 20+ earlier in the year.

Class AA AP Rankings were released: Any thoughts or predicts on this list?

    1. East Nashville 17-1
    2. Macon Co.  17-4
    3. Upperman 16-3
    4. Meigs Co. 18-2
    5. Cumberland Co. 15-4
    6. South Greene 13-3
    7. Jackson South Side 18-3
    8. Cheatham Co. 15-3
    9. Westview 15-5
    10. Grainger 17-3

Nolensville should be in this Top 10 - I saw them play against East Nashville (who gave EN their only loss) and they can probably beat any team on this list. Also, I believe Maplewood or Marshall Co. can be 11or 12.

There will be a shake-up after this week.  Upperman knocked off Macon last night.  Maplewood beat East Nashville last night by 2.  Cheatham Co beat Maplewood last week by 25 and has split the home/away with Upperman.  Both games were very close.  East struggled with Sycamore, only winning by 3 in OT.  Cheatham beat Sycamore by 30+.  Is something going on with East?  The MW team I watched was not very disciplined and don't handle adversity very well.  Cheatham was without their starting PF due to a concussion she suffered at Upperman.

  7. I watched Stewart Co and Cheatham Co in a scrimmage game Tuesday night.  Stewart Co is going to have to work hard getting a press break together or they will struggle.  Transition was a problem for them, too.  After the 1st qtr, it was 27-8, Cheatham.  I don't know if all of their players were there, which could be an issue, but the front guards decision making was iffy at times and ball handling was a problem.

  8. Yes, Cheatham will be very tough.  They will return 4 starters and also the player that rotated in the starting role with the lone senior that graduated.  I don't think they get challenged in their district.  They do have a home and away with Upperman this year, which should be a good test for them.

  9. I think the better common opponent is Hendersonville.  Talking with a person close to that program, the styles are very similar.  Constant pressure, crashing the boards and slashing to the basket.  Similar size wise, with both teams having a pretty good post player.  I think it comes down to who shoots the ball from outside better and conditioning.  Macon's #24 is their go to in the games that I have seen them play.  Cheatham has 2 players almost identical to her.  One lefty and one right.  If both teams stay in the press, it could be a high scoring affair, as it seems both teams handle 1-2-2 and 2-2-1 presses fairly easily.
