Let us know who deserves DII nominations in any class and why. Negative comments do not belong in this topic. Details are HERE

I think these are pretty easy

1A Stone Norton, leading one of the best offenses in the state at that level

2A. Eric Grey, should be a 3 time winner

3A. Devyn Curtis, LB at BA. He has 77 tackles already this year. The heart and soul of the BA team. Light years better than any LB I have seen play. By the way, I an in no way affiliated with BA

I guess I have struck a nerve!  Coaches do read this stuff, no matter what they say. My son, who played and graduated last year, went to the game today, and stood for a while with some of his buddies still playing this year on the sidelines. There were two other players from years past standing on the sideline as well. All of a sudden, Coach Anderson, who my son has always liked, came up to him and told him to get off the field. The other players from years past were allowed to stay. Its not too hard to figure out what went on. Brothers had someone else do his dirty work for him.

Some of you who are new to the thread may be wondering why I have it out for the coach. The reasons are many, but the most recent reason is that he scolded a few players last week and told them that he will not have another group of seniors quit on him like last year and lose another state championship. There were no kids that quit on him. He is the reason for every close game we lost. Up by a score and going for it on fourth down on your own end of the field????

My son went down in the 4th quarter against Wayne Co. his junior year tore his labrum to shreds, and cracked the ball in his shoulder. Had surgery, came back and gave all he had his senior year at LB. He came of the field at Friendship (semi final game) totally exhausted and emotionally spent. This arrogant, pompous you know what has the nerve to talk about my son and his team mates that way? Oh yeah! I got it in for you coach, and I wont stop until I tell as many as I can about the lousy coach you are!

Oh, btw, I dont think you will have the chance of losing a state championship this year.

So Coach Anderson, actually told a former Eagle to get off the field? Every since we have been at NCS, former players were always allowed back and full access to the program. So now that adversity has hit, Brothers and the staff want to show their true colors??? Those players did not quit on that those coaches. Brothers quit on those kids after 2015. He hasn't done a thing to get better or help those kids that wanted to play at the next level do so. Has anyone stopped to look at what his record is since John Crosby left NCS? It's either 500 or below. He is below 500 without Phillip Montgomery on his staff for his career. Think about that. That guy will never get another head coaching job anywhere else. That football program has become a freaking joke.

It takes a special kind of ego maniac to blame 16 and 17 year old kids for being the reason he did not win "another" state championship. I told him last year why he was losing friends and players, but he has not looked in the mirror.  People, the run of success at this place is over. If you have an athlete do not entrust him to this poor excuse for a coach. Public schools are a better option. Public schools are also a better option for student environment. The school has admitted known drug users who were kicked out of other schools. There is no financial risk to the school because the parents are still on the hook for tuition when their kid gets kicked out. There is absolutely nothing "Christian" about the place. It is a business, and a poorly ran business at that. Btw, Im not a disgruntled parent over playing time. My son started for over two years and won a state title because of the PLAYERS and some good coaching by Coach Crosby and Montgomery. Im saying these things because I know  the truth. He is a poor coach, isnt liked, and runs people away.

It's funny how a guy like Brothers wants to take all the credit for what success NCS had years ago but he is blaming the players and in particular the senior class??? The senior class didn't make the call to put his all state safety in the box when a team had to go 80 yards with 1:52 left on the clock.

The bottom line is this, Jeff Brothers thinks he knows what it takes to run an elite program. Montgomery came from BA and brought that mindset to NCS. Everything about the offense has been terrible this season. Take away the stats against a terrible Zion team and NCS has the worst offense in D2. He ran off both RBs, played a WR/ CB over Devon Clark who has played extremely well by the way and has a terrible middle school program. AND here is the kicker, this clown is so arrogant, he did away with the youth program that brought in all of the talent that helped them win state. What a joke. Run like heck from this place

  4. Thought the gameived up to the billing. Blackman has a lot of talent but I honestly came away from the game extremely disappointed in the attitude of Knox. He was targeted quite a bit and complained towards the sideline every time he didnt make a play. Noticed he had his helmet off yelling at a coach at one point. Not what I expected to see from one of the leaders of the Blaze.

Thought Blaze D did a good job of rallying to the ball. Seemed as though the Pats made a couple of timely plays.

Officials seemed to make the game about them in the second half. They missed a ton of false starts by both teams.  Hopefully both teams stay healthy and we get to see another match up this year

Anyone want to pick the points spread on this one?

BTW anyone know if the concession stand still have those steak sandwiches or do I need to stop at Rick's before the game?

I'm gonna say the point spread here is 24. Oakland has been hampered by injuries early in the year. Now they are starting to get some guys back. Juat dont see have the Warriors will be able to get much going on O.

  6. Brothers is a losing HC without Montgomery on his staff. He has a record of 28-41 without Coach Montgomery. His offensive schemes are $#!+. He found a way to lose 4 games a year with his all time favorite player Golden Tate. Let that sink in. Fire that bum

  7. This was my first trip to Maryville and I will say I was not disappointed. You all have a great atmosphere for a HS football game. One of the most disciplined teams I have ever seen.

Very proud of my Pat's and the heart our kids showed. You can see why both these teams are always mentioned with championships.

I think it's crazy for a guy to say we were two plays from getting blown out. This is football and those things happen. We could say we were two plays from blowing Maryville out but I dont because big plays and timely mistakes are what make this sport so great. Maryville kids bowed up the last 3 minutes to get the offense back the ball.  I didnt like our play when it was 3rd and 2 but again, its football.

  8. I want to hear from the Brothers apologists now after two weeks of terrible coaching. They guy has run off everyone in the program that had NCS as one of the top programs in single A ball. Everyone. Brothers is a losing HC without Montgomery on his sidelines. Look up his record at JPII and look at the start they are off too.

I hate to break it to those backing Brothers but NCS will get smoked next week against Fayette Academy too. Book that

I just asked a close family member and they basically said the samething but deeper. Not going to put nobody business out there but it's crazy over there from a 10 min conversation.

There isnt anyone associated with the football program that is saying anything that isnt true.

I spoke with Xavier's parents. They said they asked Brother to communicate with them about his recruiting. Brothers never did. Not a word.  They told Brothers that it was a possibility he could leave back in March. And nothing from the head coach for 3 months. I don't blame them one bit.

I know there have been other things with other players but how does a coach not want to help his Mr. Football RB get recruited?

Brothers will not have a good year. NCS wins 3 games max! Book that

Do you know why he isn't there?

I do know the family and yes I do know why he isnt there. As I said, people should be asking Brothers about this

Who was the all region lineman that left?  I don’t remember that.

Joseph Dyer left the football team because of Brothers

I've actually done so on numerous occasions on here.  Then again my purpose for getting on here is not to run down and attack coaches.

How is NCSdad running down a coach or bashing a coach if what he is saying is true. Montgomery was the reason all the talent came to NCS.

What is happening at NCS is just like what happened at JPII when Brothers was there.

There is a reason an all region lineman and back to back years both starting RB have bailed on that guy.

I made the drive down to Lebanon to watch this game and to see the UT commit in action. Nice setting for a playoff game. Several swings in the game. NCS was their own worst enemy. That fake punt was a really bad call. Friendship coaches looked like they made all the right moves in second half. Really impressed with the quality of play at the DIIA level.

I watched the broadcast of the game this morning, you are so right. Absolutey terrible call by Brothers to run a fake punt there.  NCS also had success getting the ball on the edge but only called that twice in the second half. Spot on with swings in the game. Looking at it a second time, FC was on the ropes and Brothers gave them life and the FC coaches made the most of it. Those guys could do no wrong in the second half. They had the Midas touch for sure in the second half. This one still hurts

The FC Oline showed up in the 2nd half as did the Defense.  FC had no quit in them and it appeared that NCS was not prepared for the continued pounding that FC withstood.  What an incredible game!

There was definitely danger lurking when the ball was in the air.  FC had four pics on the night.  This is an FC squad that has 19 pics now on the year.  Their overall skill play is beyond any team in the Division.

FC's 80 yard pass play was not what NCS was expecting.

NCS is a great football team.  This was one of the best high school football games I have seen in several years.  Hats off to NCS on a great season.

I thought it would be a great game which it turned out to be. You will see I said all week leading up to the game, FC coaches are top notch. IMO, the game never should have come down to that 80 pass play. Brothers killed what momentum NCS had in the first half. Myers had a 15 yard run to get us inside the FC 35. Brothers throws the ball and it' picked. We get a stop, and he throws another pick. Our crowd was beside itself.

Fastfoward, we are driving with the clock inside 3 minutes and Brothers throws two passes and stops the clock. There is NO WAY, FC would have touched the ball again. FC had the momentum in the second half for sure.

I have been saying all year our DC would cost us a ball game. How are we not in quarters with FC having to go 80 yards?

Why do we not call time out when FC set up the trick play?

Both teams played their tails off and it was an all out effort by both teams. FC coaches, man, you guys really have something to be proud of. They made all the difference. Congrats to th FC football community.

Take away NCS biggest 3 runs (i know you can’t) and you have what, 40 carries for 100 yards? It’s hard to move the sticks when your average rush goes for 2-3 yards, i think that’s why your coach tried to pass the ball.

Of course you can' take away big plays. If we take away an 80 yard play, it's not much on offense for FC. It's the eb and flow of a game.  Brothers doesn't make any adjustments. FC coaches did. That's the differece in that game. FC coaches are much better than our HC and DC. 1000 %. My hats off to them.  They got it done.

  16. 24 minutes ago, CommanderMan said:

Here are my thoughts, outside of a few big NCS runs, they didn’t do much on the ground. The Myers kid is good. This game shouldn’t have been as close as it was and we were lucky to win. AS a TN fan,  I’m a bit disappointed in Lawless, he’s clearly athletic, but has a ways to go as a lineman. FCS line was moving him 2-3 yards off the line without doubleteams.

NCS had over 200 on the ground. I am in no way disresecting FC. I said all week it would be this type of game.  Brothers does dumb crap. He can't help himself. FC coaching staff completely out coached Brothers. No adjustments.  This year we are 1-4 in big games. Terrible hire for a DC when Crosby left

  17. First of all, what a game! FC showed some guts in the second half of that ball game.

Here is my perspective and I would love to hear the FC side of things. Please don't think I am taking anything away from the players. I' not. They played ball. My thing about the flow of the game is why did Brothers get cute and throw the ball in the second quarter? 2 picks! NCS was having success and at that point in the game, FC looked shocked to me. Myers was running hard and breaking tackles, then Brothers does what he has done all year. I wanna here the FC take on thatg aspect of the game.

The other part and this was actually my biggest fear is FC coaches made great adjustments in the second half. NCS didn't and those adjustments breathed life back into the FC players.

Congrats it was a well earned victory

    2 NASHVILLE CHRISTIAN (9-3) AT 1 FRIENDSHIP CHRISTIAN (11-0)

Nashville Christian's Xavier Myers (left) and Friendship Christian's Jajuan Foutch (right)
    The Tennessean

    When: Friday, 7 p.m.

Nashville Christian boasts a pair of Mr. Football finalists in defensive lineman Brant Lawless (47 tackles, 7 sacks) and running back Xavier Myers (2,451 yards rushing, 36 TDs), but Friendship is the favorite. Friendship outscored opponents 400-107 en route to its first undefeated regular season since 2006.

    Kreager’s pick: Nashville Christian 27, Friendship 24
    Murphy’s pick: Nashville Christian 17, Friendship 10

NCS outscored its opponents 409-177 playing a tougher schedule. Columbia Academy and BGA are still playing. FRA blew a 21 point lead last week and should still be playing.

The reality is none of that means a thing tonight. 1 team will be a step closer to their dreams, the other team will have its season come to an abrupt end.  There aren' any bad teams left and as much as we hope it' a comfortable game for whatever team you pull for, the likelihood is it will and should be an uncomfortable game. A little over 3 hours until we find out who travels to Cookeville

  19. 1 hour ago, inthagap said:

I don't think that will happen against FCS'S defense. I see Speedy Foutch having as much ,or more , scores/ yards as Myers has in the game.

The team wants to prove that Foutch , because of injury, has been overlooked. It's gonna be a special kinda night for the big boys on the line Friday on both sides. My type of smash mouth game.

Pray for an injury free game .Great way to start a new rivalry!

Welcome to the club. The club that has fueled the NCS ground game all year. This team was told the season was over when our other running back left. Myers was told he wasn't as good.  Someone even say to Myers that if our other back was here, we wouldn't have started 0-2.  I' glad you are pulling for Foutch. Maybe he is a great kid. I' telling you right now, no other back has faced 9 and 10 man boxes the way this kid has and still has rattled off big time yards.  I hope for your sake, FC line is as good as you think. If not.....well you will witness it tomorrow

don't know a lot about NC but what I do know is the NC fans need to take FC seriously because it is just tough for me to imagine that they have what FC does on the interior, but like I said I don't know a lot about NC. The winner of this game wins state IMO.

I have watched a lot of film on FC and seen every NCS game. The line play will likely cancel each other out.  As with any high school team though, the team with the best player normally wins games.  FC has not faced a team that can do what NCS does offensively.  I give Brothers credit for scheduling tough competition early in the year. NCS is battle tested. FC does what they do and pretty well, I might add. I think it is foolish for anyone to think this game will be anything other that two fighters standing in the middle of the ring trading blows.  Everyone needs to get ready for a physical night of football

  22. 22 hours ago, inthagap said:

NCS will have to develop some sort of passing attack to win this game, as will FCS.

Anyone have any passing stats both teams?

The funny thing about this is everyone has said NCS needs a passing attack all year, yet the Eagles continue to rack up rushing yards. No offense to the FC coaches but BGA has a legit coaching staff and a better team. NCS still had over 250 on the ground that night. I love how over confident FC is right now.  Myers faces 9 and 10 man boxes every week and leads TN in yards per game. Buckle up, the Eagles are coming

FC by 14. FC gets it done in the trenches!

NCS has played the toughest schedule in DII-A. It  pretty funny that people are saying this game, of all games will be more than touchdown.  I give the edge to NCS but only by a score. FC won't beat themselves by play calling. Both lines will make some plays but I think that is a wash. Lawless has played out of his mind the last 3 weeks. Can' wait until Friday
