Ipad man locked down.
Funny you say that Strike. I witnessed a few games at DCA when they were on defense, CPW would bury himself in the Ipad and not have 'nary a clue what was going on on defense. He had a high level of trust in his DC Beaubien that he could focus on the Ipad and see how to run or attack with OZ or OZ fake and throw over the top of the safety coming downhill. You know you have solid people and staff when you can completely focus on another part of the game knowing the other aspect was in good hands and would get him the ball back on offense pretty quickly. It's a shame Beaubien didn't end up with the DCA job, but he has apparently landed on solid ground.

CJP was considered by coaches, including Wade, to be a very good offensive coach and that’s big nowadays. He also has worked in the public school system and can speak with prospective family’s and their child(ren). He’s worked at a school with 1,600 students and raised money for his program. There’s staff continuity with his brother being the QB coach the last few years helping create a preseason Mr Football candidate (3,000 yp and 30 TDs). He knows the community well as well as the alums. His father was one of the most well respected men to ever work at DCA which will create good will for CJP. CJP took HC jobs as a young man that nobody wanted to try and help those programs which shows he’s not afraid to work hard. Parents who know football and Jay have contacted me today from other D2 programs wanting to take a look at DCA now.
As probably the guy with the most history and experience as the son of a former coach there, a player, alum, coach, and parent of three alums I believe in coach Pierce and am comfortable in saying that he will be very successful there.
I need to add that you are wrong as well. Wrong about East Robertson job. That is a job that a lot of coaches want or wanted. About 10 years ago, I took my team AAA team to Cross Plains and scrimmaged them. I could not help but think what it would be like to coach a team with the kids they had at the Single A level, against the schedule they had. That was also before Robertson County did a little rezoning to help Jo Byrns out and they got every kid in Cross Plains. It was ridiculous.

I am somewhat familiar with this situation. I need someone to Help me understand this however. Everyone needs to understand that this hire is following what Dennis Goodwin and Paul Wade & staffs were able to accomplish. This is the most qualified of all the applicants? Nothing personal against the hire, but he had an unsuccessful 3 year run at a school loaded with players at the public school A level. DCA even got to see him up close in 2013-2014. They should have learned a valuable lesson those 2 Friday nights. Has been a middle school coach for the last 10 years, not that that is the worst thing ever. But there is a huge difference. To the best of my knowledge, this hire has never coached in a TSSAA High School Playoff game. Someone can correct me if I am wrong. I have to believe there were applicants who wanted the job that are more qualified as coaches, not as human beings, even in the DCA building.

Former Head Coach Paul Wade added that, “Coming back to DCA in 2018 as the head coach was like coming back home. Therefore, I know that feeling that Coach Pierce has, and I couldn’t be happier for him and his family. During my tenure, I was fortunate to have seven former players serve within the program. Now, to have the opportunity to watch one take the reins as head coach is not only exciting but says a lot about this community. Jay will be excellent because he is a product of this program and understands the mission statement of the school. He is a football guy and is a relationship builder. I expect him to continue on with the tradition of success that has been DCA football.”
Coach Paul Wade is slick and knows how to play the game and he probably thinks a lot of JP and is genuinely happy for him and his family. But, I am going out on a limb and saying even he is questioning this move on the football end.

Until we see otherwise, I would say Clarksville High is the class of this region. Kirkwood has surprised so far early in their short existence. Dickson County may make some noise in this region after bouncing around a few other regions in the past

I wasn’t surprised because I expected this game to be similar with the running games and turnovers as well as special teams returns. The difference that I was curious to see was what would happen on a dry field because DCAs passing attack led by Gaines, Sneed, and Maglia is excellent. Not to mention an O-line led IMO by the best center in the history of the school in Aiden Francis opened holes and protected very well.
When Paul Wade came to DCA four years ago I believed the talent was there to win a gold ball and said so on here. He started four 8th graders on his first team and all four were major contributors this year. Add in a handful of players that came to DCA to play for a guy who had 10 rings and the potential was there for this result. Coach Wade methodically and meticulously built this team from the ground up.
Wade has been called by some on here as an “opportunist” and it’s been said he “puts himself in good positions to win” to minimize his coaching accomplishments. Well, he just rebuilt a program that went 0-10 his 1st year to outscoring the three other preseason favorites (Friendship Christian, USJ, and NCS) 120-21.
Ive known coach Wade over 40 years and he was my fathers favorite player as a kid because he always gave his best effort and was relentless in his pursuit of winning. He now has his 4th ring as a head coach and 11th overall so the guy deserves to be mentioned as one of the best in the state. Put away forever all the excuses folks try to use to distract from what the results clearly show. His teams are always disciplined and play an intense, hard nosed style that mirrors their head coach. Sure it takes talent to win but without scheming, preparation, and the complete effort as a program, led by the head coach, gold balls don’t happen.
One last thing, and this deserves special mention. I’d like to personally thank my good friend David Braemer, the headmaster at Ensworth. I’ve spent many hours with you over the years watching our daughters play soccer all over the US. When DCAs TN hall of fame coach Dennis Goodwin retired we discussed Paul Wade. You told me how Paul would be a “great fit at DCA.” What I told you very bluntly was he was a great fit anywhere and that you guys (Ensworth), including Ricky Bower’s, made a HUGE mistake by not hiring him as your head coach. Looks like we were both right.
Congrats to NCS on a great season and to coach Brothers on building your program into a perennial contender. Congrats to Coach Wade, his staff, and the players on a remarkable and magical season.
Good post. I am one who has always thought that Paul Wade has always found a way to put himself in good situations. I stand by that sentiment. But, I also recognize that the man knows what he is doing and understands the game & how to put himself in good situations. That is part of the coaching job game.
He is also a great OL coach. It appears he surrounded himself with some quality people and assistant coaches to get back where they are today. He inherited a good situation at DCA and Coach Dennis Goodwin is/was as good as they come. His 0-10 year was not attributed to Coach Goodwin leaving an empty cupboard, it was just a year that DCA had few numbers to work with. You don't go from State Title appearance one year to 0-10 the next year because it is broken. it is because of lack of players to compete (youth). It happens. The kids and coaches persevered and got it done. Kudos to all involved.

This rumor had floated across the radar two weeks ago. Supposedly he had "shopped" MTCS, but rules would not allow the transfer. Only word I got from the rumor mill was that he had violated some team rules and was not seeing eye to eye with coaches. I don't believe it changes much for Riverdale.
With that being said......I'm sure TSSAA granted him instant eligibility. Had it been a sincere reason to transfer, it would have been rebuffed by TSSAA. I could be way off base, but it sounds like Riverdale is adhering to their policies and the said player is running from issues. By all means, let's grant him eligibility. I hope this not the case and it is a legitimate move to another school district and new home address. I hope.

Maybe the weakest region in 6-A history
Cane Ridge
Smyrna
Lavergne
McGavock
Overton
Antioch
Dickson County
This region started the ‘21 campaign 1-6 with Smyrna winning the only game. This region is wide open for the taking. In the end, I feel that Cane Ridge, Smyrna, LaVergne and Dickson get in. Only 2 region wins will get you in the playoffs.

My nephew plays for Dickson and I was told Page struggled with them in a scrimmage too, but it was the first one, so I did not put much thought into it. Every one tends to struggle somewhat that first scrimmage. I know Page lost many plays with class of 2020, but have not heard about their losses with class of 2021.
I was at the Page scrimmage vs Dickson. Page moved the ball at will, even without their starting Quarterback. Dickson struggled to move the ball on Page defense, although they looked solid in the 2nd half of the scrimmage (backups?). It looked like a typical first scrimmage to me, but Page looked solid. Dickson has some good looking players.

McPhail will not take job. He will finish his time at HL (retire) and then get on Cumberland full time.
I know Metro recycles like crazy, but I'm sure a few more qualified candidates will pop up and get interviews.
Moreno-No chance
Others listed-have a chance of an interview

Homeschool team.
Like I said.........what is that. SMH
Just one man's opinion, but going from the lowest level of TN high school football (TSSAA) to an even lower level of football is probably not good for his chances to advance to next level. But, I will not blame a parent for making a decision for their child if they feel it is best dynamic for them. I just don't see the benefit.

I saw in "Clarksville Now", via front page of CoachT, that they are having a player leave to go to the Tennessee Heat. Really? What is that? SMH

No playoffs for Lipscomb Academy in 2024
in Division II
Posted
Where to start............Coach McCadams, RIP, is rolling over in his grave over the Lipscomb shenanigans. My father, former longtime TN high school head coach/Administrator, and Coach McCadams were extremely close. They coached together on several All-Star showcase games and competed against each other as well. When I became a head coach myself, my teams competed against Coach McCadams as well. We became close as well, as well as some of his former staff. Some of which are still at LA in some various capacities. They see it first hand on a daily basis and are embarrassed by what is/has been going on. Some of the stories I have been told by LA staff members are unreal, if true. If I had to guess, LA is extremely lucky that TSSAA did not really push the issue beyond what facts we already know. I hate it for the kids that adults have to get in the way.
