When Nolensville moves up to 6a they should be in with LaVergne, Stewie, Smyrna plus maybe Antioch and Cane Ridge.  That would make sense geographically.  For all sports.  Neighborhood rivalries draw fans and fans at games = $$$ for the schools.

According to google maps, it's an eleven minute drive from Nolensville High to Stewie.

(it's a 33 minute drive from Stewie to McGavock for example, 29 from Smyrna to Overton)

The WilCo school system will push for a WilCo Super League:  Brentwood, Ravenwood, Indy, Franklin, Centennial, Summit, Nolensville & Page if they can push some rezoning down Arno Road.  That would bump Dickson out when they drop to 5A after next year.

We are back to being the largest school in the county.  SC dropped two years ago when there was rezoning.  Then this year they took another drop when the Liberty Creek kids were sent to Beech.  Those same Liberty Creek kids who were going to be Sr’s when LC opened will never step foot into LC because it won’t open now until ‘22.

Don’t worry too much about the SC numbers.  They will be back as well because they have the largest elementary school in the county and more houses and apartments are being moved into every day.

Liberty Creek going to be a new High School?  WHat schools will take an enrollment hit when it opens?

I hope this is true. Oakland has a tough time getting schools to play. I applaud Hendersonville, Maryville, Independence & Germantown for stepping up. I know some Williamson & Wilson County schools that have flat out said NO. And don't get me started on the wusses from Pulaski Academy Arkansas.

But they did travel to Ravenwood

I thought they split RuCo so they would have a chance to get more teams into the playoffs.  If they are all in the same region, only 4 of them get in.  With the mid state growth projections and more larger schools coming online, 6A in the mid state will have a larger presence in the next classification.

From the looks of projections Sumner County could go from 2 to 4 6A teams.  The superintendent has given hints that the teams even request to move up to stay together if enrollment numbers have them in 5A this next go round.

I think the teams that are in the RuCo split regions would like to be out of those regions as well.  It would give them a better chance at playoffs at best.  A better overall record at worst.

Wilson County will have 4 teams with close to 6A numbers for the new classifications that will be made know next November using next September enrollment numbers.

The biggest thing to remember is that Davidson County (metro teams) doesn’t want to be in a region by themselves.  It would give more of them a chance for a playoff spot but kill them financially since attendance is so disappointing.

Gallatin is already at 6A numbers.  Station Camp dropped into 5A range, but still play in 6A.  Beech may get to 6A if they move some of the Station Camp kids to Long Hollow Pike.

After watching this team closely the last few years, it is obvious they are poorly coached and undisciplined.

    1) Offense is vanilla and predictable.  They  have a top 15 QB (pro-style, pocket passer) that looks below average on the field.  They give him no easy throws to get on track.  The OC’s favorite play is a long fade or post that everyone knows is coming.  They were 0fer at least 8 on this play last night.  This play is called despite being athletically outmatched.

    2) Last week they averaged more than 1 penalty per possession.  Direct reflection of coaching.

    3) This week, critical 2nd half touchdown pass by JP2 and FR D didn’t even attempt to chase the receiver.

    4) More on offense...They have a 6’4” 200+ senior TE (looks like most athletic player on team) who can catch who is shockingly not involved in the offense.  He has caught a few passes this season, all long crossing patterns.  MLBs blitz most every play because there is no threat of a pass in their zone.

    5) Defense looks confused and uninspired.  I am willing to bet a years Catholic tuition that they don’t watch film. Wait....I happen to know that the coaches didn’t share film with the team this week.  With all their success the last several years, they may be onto something.  Top tier programs take note.  You too can be 1-3 if you don’t watch film.

It has become painful to watch the school that means so much to me and my family.  I hope the decision makers are taking note.  I doubt it though, if they were, the basketball “coach” would have been fired years ago

    Sorry Daddy

NCS has 9 or so players who became eligible within the last couple of weeks that have totally changed the make up of the team.  NCS  will be a tough match up for DA and from what I saw last Friday night would say that the Eagles will probably win this one.

Side note: Everyone knows that there is holding on every play in football, however when a Defensive Lineman wearing a tight form fitted jersey has it ripped off him through out the night one would assume there is some serious holding happening.  DA I recommend prior to the game that you make sure the refs know that if the kickoff goes into the endzone it is a touchback.

DA If you haven't seen this yet here a little taste of what to expect tonight.  There was a standard facemask flag thrown on this play, but many were curious if it could have been more.

I thought all those kids for NCS became eligible in October of '18?

I cracked up reading the article in the times Sunday morning. Reporter made it sound like Alcoa was outnumbered 3 1 in players. Rankin must have those guys brainwashed.  Alcoa is as talented as any team in Tennessee. They dress 90 players almost every year now.

I counted 58 Alcoa players Saturday.  But, I have never claimed to be very smart.

  8. Page looks very good.  Their offense is going to give people fits.  Combination of Zone Read and RPO stuff.  Just when you think the QB pulls the ball to run on the Read, he flips it out to receivers because they are running routes instead of stalk blocking.  Tough to defend.  They will probably be called for linemen downfield a few times this year, but big play potential.  Defensively, they fly to the football and bring people off the edges.  The 2 time.......2 time transfer RB is a load.

I wouldn't say that.  Sure we might not be the offensive juggernaut that we've been the last few seasons,  but we do have some playmakers on this team!

Good to hear.  A lot of good folk in Humphreys County.  I have a bunch of friends in the Education?Coaching fraternity in Waverly.  Good luck Tigers

I am just a little bit but I’m worried! Gibson moved the ball to easy on use and the average joe could call that little pass they did to score. We are lacking in a lot of spots. There was one series were we scored and I was like wow that’s waverly football. Our line is tough and they will carry us far and we really just ran the same spread every down. I might get my Tiger card pulled but I call it like I see it. I’m worried this yr.

I tried to tell everyone that when you lose 3 Mr. Football Candidates off the same team, do not expect the same results.  I saw a bunch of times last year where all 11 players would make a mistake on the same play, but a great athlete would make someone miss and go to the house.  Not the case.........ever again in Waverly.

My bad.  1621.  But with more on the way from Beech and Station Camp.  They are currently 113 over the 5/6 A cutoff line for this cycle.

  12. Black is not one of Waverly's school colors.  Attempt by Boldin to do something different.  I too would like to know who Multi Championship Defensive Coordinator is myself.  Everyone here on CoachT has lost their mind if they think Waverly will be able to keep up with what they have been doing in recent years.  They lost 3 Mr. Football finalists off the same team!  I don't see anyone on the current team or middle school team that can come even close to replicating that kind of talent, especially at QB.  Just being real and preventing the Waverly faithful from setting Boldin up for failure.  They will win some games, but deep runs in playoffs are a stretch.  I ope so, but not likely.

I will bet BIG money that Rankin will apply.  Be a horrible hire though if they did.

    Good Luck Ensworth.

I may be way off base with my remark, but LOD you seem to have something against Rankin.  Obviously, hiring the winning-est coach in TN football history would be a terrible idea.  He shows no clue that he is slowing down. If I were Ensworth, I would definitely hear his sales pitch.

I've played on some turf fields. It's a little overrated. a quality grass playing surface is unrivaled. What serious college football school or NFL team uses turf. Very few. Now, turf would make sense ar Beech. The field has draining issues and the grass was never the best surface because of it

14 NFL teams have Fieldturf, 18 have natural grass.  Colleges:  Arizona, Oregon, Wisconsin, Louisville, Syracuse, Kentucky, Houston, Texas, Missouri, Cincy, Ole Miss, Washington, Texas Tech, Iowa, Washington State, Nebraska, Michigan, Navy, West Virginia, Oregon State, Rice, Colorado State......just to name a few.  More and more school systems in TN are getting fieldturf as well.  I hope this helps in your argument.

You obviously don't have a clue what you are talking about. Many more injuries on turf. Fact. Turf is not as kind to you during a hard fall. Fact. It has to be replaced every few years, which costs H*** of a lot more than upkeeping Grass. Fact.

Actually playing on it multiple times, I feel that I can have a good opinion of turf. By the way, you should call Tennessee, Alabama, LSU, Ohio St., Michigan, Texas, UGA, and ask why they don't use turf. Because it sure as heck isn't because of a lack of $$$. But hey, Vandy has turf!!!

And that 80 year old dump has a ton of tradition, which even the rivals will say. It is nice going to watch a Game at GHS. You are right over top of the action with no track and the bleachers being right on top of the sidelines. & opposing fanbases can almost never "fill" our visitors stands (Which are larger than most team's Home side). But yeah, you keep enjoying these new style stadiums built out of aluminum beer cans, and can only hold a capacity of like 2k. Good for you.

    Next.

Do you have data to back up your "facts" statement concerning injuries?  Turf does not have to be replaced every few years.  More like a decade, at the least.  If it is not used like a community center, it will last loger than that.  A lot of the schools you mentioned had turf before fieldturf became like real grass.  It used to be hard with a concrete base.  I dare say you will see some of these teams you mentioned go back to fieldturf in the near future.  I played on the old turf of Birmingham, MTSU, Tenn Tech, Boise State, Northern Illinois, APSU, Chattanooga, ETSU in old dome, Murray State, Cincinnati & many others.  It was awful.  The stuff I coach on now is unreal.  And it will only keep getting better.

GHS should never consider turf. Their stadium is a great atmosphere as is. The grass turf is a better playing surface than turf.

No.  School systems are moving to turf for PR purposes as well as safety issues.  With a turf field, schools can work year round with their teams.  Junior Pro programs can also use it as a money driven attraction.  Makes since on a lot of fronts.
