  1. You are correct, the gap is closing. Congrats to Greeneville. Coach Shelton has done a good job up there. The gap will never fully close until a couple of things happen. One is have a sucessful college team in the area. King is not cutting it compared to UTC. It also helps a former Cleveland coach is at UTC. The other is more support in the community as a whole for wrestling. There seems to be flawed logic that a comminity can be around one sport per season, but that is not the case. SHHS and Tennessee High have support from the school systems to some degree as well as the student body. I know that may not be the only schools getting support, but those are the ones I know about. It is more than the coaches, wrestlers, and parents. Wrestling is a sport that is growing, but it can grow a lot more IF people are behind the sport. Since the support is not there, the Tri-Cities area may want to consider doing open gym twice a week taking turns where they are located and COACHES, WRESTLERS, PARENTS get more involved.
