  1. I agree 100%. From seeing how their fans acted and listening to them Friday against Meigs, they're some of the worst I've ever seen. If some of them were parents of the players, I feel sorry for their children. They were an embarrassment to a "supposedly" Christian school.

I agree, completely embarrassing. Yes they were parents. I guess when you pay to play your not suppose to lose. It's a shame though that a couple of those parents give the whole school a bad name.
  2. Elizabethton wins another gold ball. This team shoots unlike any other girls HS team Ive ever seen. The development of the 6-3 post has made them a complete team, again.

I dont see any team within 10 of them unless they have a really off night.

Don't crown them yet STEVE HARVEY!!!!!!!!!
  3. Finally, a voice of sanity. I live over 150 miles from Elizabethton and support an AA girls team (McMinn Central) that should be in the state tourney and may play against Elizabethton, yet I don't see any serious problem with what Elizabethton's coach did. It was minor indeed, and something that any coach could do without second thought. I've seen similar things happen with the team I support, but realize it's required to get to the level of being a contender every year. As you said, until the state has more definitive rules of enforcement, things like this will continue.

Why would you say that? SMH!!!!!
  4. Is this topic still about the best teams in East TN? Anyone have a change of heart after district tournaments? I'll go with this:

    1. Morristown West

    2. Elizabethton

    3. South Greene

    4. McMinn Central

    5. William Blount

    6. Bearden

    7. Bradley Central

    8. Hardin Valley

    9. Union County

    10. Gatinburg Pittman

No way can SG be ranked higher than MC, CMON MAN really.
  5. Sadly the Elizabethton program as a whole will never be punished for Coach Dugger's cheating for most of his career. He will resign after the state tournament (which would have happened anyways because all of his talent will be gone) and this will all be water under the bridge. Next topic...

Agreed but not with a state championship though.
  6. Crazy that BOTH top seeds were upset. How will that play out?

Great night of basketball. 3A is like playing in the SEC, can't take a night off. The good, all 4 go to region, the bad, only 2 make it out. Congrats to Harriman and big shout out to Midway. Way to go.
  7. I'm posting factual information. All I'm saying is don't gripe about some schools and think it's ok for ones in our own backyard. Good programs are going to attract good players. No matter what area you are in. That was my point. You and Martian man complain more than anyone on the T about recruiting and where you're zoned and all that mumbo jumbo. But I promise you private schools aren't the only ones recruiting. I know Meigs isn't scared of the private schools. In fact it's been the best rivalry in 3a for the last few years and I personally hope they let them stay in 3a

GCA will have to go D2, if that's who your referring. That's factual. Meigs is D1, that's factual.
  8. i know where she lives and where she went to middle school at! And it sure wasn't Mcminn central or any of there feeder schools!!! I personally think she made the right decision going to central. Better exposure, better team, and she gets to play with her aau teammates so I know a little something. So don't call out other schools for recruiting when it's done in your backyard.

I assume your a Meigs fan, be careful throwing stones cause we all have stories to tell. Again done nothing illegal, for someone to post on this site ignorant information is just weak.
  9. I agree with most of all you said especially Middle tn area in a class by themselves and I'm all for parents giving their children the best possible they can so long as it is in the rules. Were rules broken by coaches ? I doubt it. That's easy to go around all you need is an address. Fact is it happens. To me it hurts the purity of the public teams. Usually it's local kids who grow up wanting to play for this team or that team. But now school hopping is common. You can switch and sit for a year before being able to play varsity but can still play jv. My kids go where they are zoned and yes as 8th graders I was approached not by coaches but other parents from more than one school about where they would attend. I think it ridiculous. Really that's what you want ?To go get kids just cause you can't win with the kids who have grown up in your area? What's that teach? What's next paying kids to play highschool sports. When my kids are done I'm done.

For a school to compete year end year out at a high level there has to have been some sort of recruiting done. Publics have groups come through but any given year there has to be a drop off. No public school has that kind of numbers to get to the state tournament every year. Regardless of the coach. Yes it would be a more even playing field if everyone went where they're zoned but it will never happen. Dynasties aren't built on coaching they are built on recruiting. Agree or Disagree that's just the way it is.
  10. Completely disagree with that analogy. If both coaches had an opportunity to rate officials after each game based on a set criteria, it would be a great tool for the state to use to improve the system. It could be as simple as establishing a rating system. Highest rated officials get higher pay. It would create incentives to be your best. It wouldn't be that hard either. All you have to do is set up a page on the TSSAA website and give all the coaches a login and make official rating from each game mandatory. However, I do believe referees do the best job they can. It's a thankless job.

yes, and the pay isn't what you would call GREAT. I think for a regular season high school double header it's just, like 90 bucks.
  11. Agreed, it will take a monumental effort this year to beat this group of young ladies. McMinn Central is the only one that has a shot in my opinion so i hope these two teams get in opposite brackets in Murfreesboro. Otherwise the championship game will be played early. :popcorneater:

getting a little excited UC. Alot of bball left yet. Don't Steve Harvey them early again this year.
  12. You are way too bitter. The girls that made the finals are all deserving of the award and great players get left our every year, and will continue to get left out. The state of TN has always had great woman's basketball players and everyone can't win. Like me 5th grade teacher always said "Life isn't Fair deal with it!"

No one said the kids didn't deserve it, no one. And yes I am bitter, OK, and no I won't get over it, MOM.
  13. I coached both of my kids, son and daughter. Coaching stops at the gym. At home, in the car and everywhere else you are DAD, period. If you take their mistakes home you and especially them will hate it. Be Dad and only Dad after the game is over

Well said, but if your a passionate coach it can't be turned off at the gym. You know that. It's a season long process most years. Apparently you must be 1 of few who can do that.
  14. Lea Lea totally deserved it as well. Chelsea has the blessing and the curse of having outstanding teammates that keep her stats from being crazy high. She is as good as anyone!!

You have to play in a terribly weak district and beat teams 101-17 to get it. It's pretty bad when individual stats come before team stats. I understand your frustration we also have a super candidate that has great team players but our team plays quality opponents night in and night out so no recognition comes to her either.
  15. My advice is to quit whining and get better. If the coach put his subs in which he did then just get better. We are filled with a society that says everyone gets a trophy which will be our demise at some point. Life isn't fair, use it as a teaching lesson to motivate the kids to get better because once they are out of school no one is going to worry about their confidence. Just my two cents worth.... :popcorneater:

Easy to say that when your the big dog on the block. We all know why he did it. Get better, really CMON MAN, someday!!!!!
  16. If you scored 41 points in the 1st quarter and you had already beat the team by that much the 1st round then why not pull all 5 starters out to start the 2nd quarter, or maybe show some class and start the JV unless coach has no confidence in his 2nd and 3rd string No hater here at all could care less who wins in AA, just thinking of the players on the other team and what this will do to there confidence. Cause i'm sure if you daughter played and the tables where turned you would feel the same way about it.

    Agreed
  17. I have coached my daughter(s) for many years in AAU and middle school ball. My oldest daughter will be coming to play for me next season at the high school level. It is challenging at times but extremely rewarding. The best advice I can give you is this. You must have thick skin and be prepared to hear all kinds of stuff. Always make decisions based on what is best for the team. Hopefully your child will be good enough to leave no doubt of why she plays, but even then some people will still have their opinion. One thing, I know for sure...When your child plays for you, you won't ever be able to question how she is being used...LOL

Terrible idea, they NEVER get treated the same as the other players. The car ride home after a loss is even worse. So no, IMO it's a bad idea.
