The girls basketball program at East has had limited success until now, to say the least!

In twenty years the girls team has made the Region semis 3 times until this year. Last year's team could have made it to the state if not for MLK being upset in the district semis and ending up in the same bracket with East in the Region.

 

Funny, nobody complained about the magnet school that lost every game for two straight years....

These girls did a great job! They are talented and hard working and deserve all the credit!

 

The Levy girl is awesome! I didn't think she played as well as she could have (east girls had something to do with that) and she still ended up with 19. She is going to be great! I could see East and Upperman squaring off in the state tourney again next year! Great year for both teams!

100% agree! The Levy girl is a true talent. East did a great job making things hard for her.  That's probably the hardest 19 points she's scored all season. East has a great team and coaching staff.  They have fun while playing.

It's a blessing to see two District 10AA school win the AA state tourney back to back. Great for the city of Nashville  

Can we go ahead and crown them state champs for next year too? I don't seem them losing. Stewarts Creek games will be good games, but other than that....They're unbeatable.

East has 3 guards with D1 offers #10, #20, and #14. #5 will play at the next level too. It'll be a battle tonight . I'm a Nashillian so I'm pulling for the home team.

East Nashville pulls this out tonight. #2 for Upperman is a true talent - she's special! She'll be playing against 3-4 guards that match her same athletic abilities. East can play fast or slow, if they dictate the pace of the game & limit their fouls they have a good shot. 

This will be the best game of the day. Good luck to both programs!

Could be the fastest game of the tourney. If East gets a lead they will slow it down. Go East. Win it in honor of your ailing team mate.

I think it is astonishing that the combined record of these 8 teams is 236-25 (9 of those belonging to Rutledge.) I can't remember the last time I saw so many gaudy records at State.

I believe whoever comes out of the bottom half of the bracket will be Class AA State Champions. Eliz, CPA or East (imo)

You must haven't seen East Nashville. They'll win vs. Creekwood

Rutherford County is a different breed of basketball, just face it. It's a hotbed for girls basketball. No one in the state of TN can compete with that brand of basketball. It's nothing personal - just facts. When you see the Uconn's, South Carolina's, and Notre Dame's IN ATTENENCE  you'll probably understand. No other district in the state draws that type of attention. Sorry.  

You are correct it is hand down the best district overall in all the state, but that's mean you go ahead and claim them champions. I'm pretty sure Stewarts Creek didn't think they would lose at home a few weeks ago against Smyrna either. That same Smyrna team was in a tourneyment that featured both Bearden and Morristown west and got beat the first round by Greeneville a team Morristown West would handle with ease.

 

It's basketball and anything can happen with matchups, coaching, and who is on or off one day once you make it to the glass house

Blackman, Oakland, Riverdale, and now Stewarts Creek is probably one of the best districts in the SE. They have high major D1 talent on their teams - nightly.  Lets be honest here.

That isn't even close to a good statement. Bearden. William Blount. Oakridge all can hang with those teams if scheme is right. Sub state here could be Morristown West. William Blount. Bearden. All 3 could make a run

You can't be serious. You honestly and truly believe that those teams can compete w/ Rutherford Co. basketball? Those teams would be 5th place & below in this district.  

The freshmen group from Cheatham has played together for 7 years and a side note is one of them is a top 100 soccer player in the country.

They have an awesome team. I'm even more impressed, now knowing that they're that young. Their future is bright. I think the youth will come into factor vs. East Wednesday night, though. Should be a good one!

Is this Elizabethton team that good? I'm pretty sure they can shoot, how athletic are they? I would love to see them play

PC lost to Westmoreland at PC? I was shocked. That's a hard place to play. Are they good enough to win the region 5aa at lipscomb this week? Never seen them

East Nashville girls team had a big article in the Tennessean I came across. Thought I'd share. Great AA team with Lejae, Erica, Kia and a lot other players not mentioned. Pearl cohn is also a sleeper team that always challenges east

I've seen both CPA and East Nashville

CPA has a very good sophomore SG Kendeni Hambrick can score from all over the place. She probably averages around 20. They have a PG that committed to Shorter University and a really good post player. They're solid and well coached.

East Nashville is 23-2 with a loss to Riverdale and have 3 guards with D1 offers so they are really good as well.

Who are some of the best teams in Class AA? Which girls program will make a deep post season run and end up at the Murphy Center?

Bo Hodges Maplewood should be a finalist. Mr./Ms. Basketball candidates are very rare for Metro Nashville players. Politics in my eyes play a huge factor. Bo is definitely deserving

Thanks. She deserves the notoriety for her efforts. Kia Upton does in fact have a offer from Lipscomb. I have a very good relationship with their Team Brandan Wright summer program coaches and her family member who coaches at East Middle as well. She'll be good too. The coach at East is doing a great job with those girls, and has managed a ton of talent. I've become a fan of the East Nashville program. They're great for Metro. Erica Haynes Overton is deserving for Miss Basketball. Hopefully the coaches feel the same.
