3 state tournament appearances in 3 years is pretty impressive! 1 gold & 1 silver ball is great! Maybe another gold this year
Why’d they play early ? I didn’t know TSSAA allowed that

So what’s the verdict Greg Martin imposter

Southside and Dyersburg fall

I didn’t say they did. Don’t have a clue about anything about Upperman or anyone there. I just know that there have been and there will be teams that tank under the direction of their coach as long as the current system stays as is. That includes good and bad teams

Bad teams might do that but Upperman is not a bad team. Teams like Tullahoma concern themselves with district championships and are happy to be in region play where our girls see the bigger picture of Murfreesboro as an accomplishment. Upperman is not afraid of anyone and Coach does not tank games

Coaches who lose on purpose should be fired.
I believe two teams where kicked out a few years ago because they both tried to tank -

You are correct. I was not at the Region meeting but was told that Fayette Ware wanted to host regardless of what happened tonight. No clue what changed.
I don’t believe it’s a choice. TSSAA rule

Didn’t the Lady Bees do that versus Tullahoma tonight? Missed lay-ups, shot 40 percent from the free throw line, over ten turnovers and still won by double digits. Difference is Stone Memorial capitalized on those mistakes.
Teams tank in district consolation games a lot to avoid best team in their district until the finals where they can lose and play again. Until they make the consolation game meaningful or reseed after the first round of regional it will continue

If all 4 teams advance from one district. Bracket should be reseeded.
The way it is now, absolutely. 1 vs 4 and 2 vs 3

District 13AAA sweeps District 14AAA to set up a carbon copy of the District 13AAA Semis in the Region 7AAA Semis:
Dburg vs Obion County
Crockett County vs South Gibson County
As of this moment, Fayette Ware is still hosting the girls semis even though District 13AAA swept.
I believe if a district sweeps it automatically goes back to either where the district was played or the district champ. Not sure which but I’m positive it moves back because TSSAA gets more $
-
It’s either that or send all 4 teams to different areas and let all 1 seeds host and eliminate substate with the 16 winners playing to see who goes to state. No same district teams can play each other until semifinals or finals
-
Teams getting to go to regions no matter what. Southside is ahead 51-2 at the half against a team that I believe won 1 game. Time to at least have to win the consolation game to advance and give 1 seeds a bye. Second round matchups should then be set so that a 1 seed doesn’t play a team from their district unless both their teams win and then it should be the 3 seed
why does all 4 divisions have to have the same number of teams. Time to divide by number of students and stop lining up the numbers and dividing by 4

If 100 apply and you don't have a good coach when it's over someone failed... on the other side of the coin, if only one applies and you get a good coach in him, that's all that matters.
True but this school has fallen so far in everything since its opening. Not very attractive place to be for the moment

You have Hardin County and Lexington open in the area. Be awhile before any movement on this opening

That problem has more than one culprit. It began with the leadership in McNairy County not wanting to move up county games so the area tournament could be done earlier. Even without the weather it would have wound up the same way. However with the weather the tmsaa was unwilling to move sectional back
Really. Tradition is hard to change

You don't have to recruit kids. Who is geographically close enough to McNairy to pull the marginal kids? One post Said that some go to Miss., other than that probably a very few could choose Hardin Co, and the vast majority decide between the Bobcats and Cardinals. Not every kid in Hardeman County can come to McNairy, but there are several that could choose to if you gave them a better option than they have. Get the majority of McNairy County kids to choose blue and gold over red and silver, then one or two from here and there coupled with getting kids in the halls out to play and you've made a huge jump in talent and numbers. If it was easy everyone would win 8-10 games a year but in reality it isn't too hard to figure out...just getting folks on board with making the effort.
Effort has been made. Can’t tell you how many people believe there are kids walking the halls that are players. There aren’t any!!! Numbers don’t win, talent with coaching wins. If you have a 100 Jimmies and Joes and no talent you still lose. There are no jobs in the county to draw families in. School system is biggest employer. It’s a tough job and it will continue to be until potential industries come and draw people to the county

Glad that someone gets the fact that things change when folks change them, and change doesn't happen when folks sit by, do nothing, and expect nothing to be done differently.
Adamsville would have been hard to beat out to draw the "either way" kids six or eight years ago, but not now. Get one or two "starter" type kids that would normally be there, one or two from each of the three swing schools, one or two from the west (nothing in Hardeman Co. to attract football kids), and one or two from south of the state line, and you've doubled your talent/depth without playing a down of football. Pay someone to come in and teach kids how to play while making football "interesting" for the kids already there, and the job gets easier from there.
Bottom line is; get kids to come out for football, build your numbers, put butts in the seats, and the public will pay the program's way far more than the cost of raising the stipend to coach football at McNairy... all you have to do is care enough to try.
Good post but having been there the money isn’t going to change. Plus you are talking about RECRUITING and McNairy doesn’t have any NIL $$

I believe most are members but it is definitely another money stream for TSSAA. They basically let areas make their own rules and refuse to intervene when disputes arise. They have 11+ teams in some areas and 2 in others. Makes no sense.
-
TMSAA is not ran very well. Unorganized and not helpful at all. Look at the way they have divided up schools. 2 teams in some areas and 12+ in others. Get some leadership that can concentrate on this level and give KIDS the opportunity they earn
-
My question is WHY? Why do so many of the players enter the portal every year? And why do coaches leave too? Why can’t Penny keep them?
-
So how about we fix it to where the same teams don’t have to play each other after district. Send them to different regions so if one district has 4 really good teams they will all be at state

Middle town is lucky they got past them indians. East would've handled hamtown with ease.
Go away. Your team was at home. Opinion on what might have happened doesn’t matter. Just ask all those lower seeds in NCAA
-
Middleton couldn’t stop the big kid. He killed them in the first half. Hampton forgot about him until the last two minutes when they got it to him again and he scored each time.
turnovers got Middleton ahead and then their turnovers lost it for them
-
Middleton’s defense will dictate the pace of the game. They will win by 10
