The first thing they need to do is play their game. They play their type of ball and they will be alright. If they go down there scared they will get beat bad. Unicoi County plays like they are capable.

I don't really think anyone knows what you're talking about nightmare,you make no sense.The story I heard about the fight was the man and the central student were exchanging words the whole game,supposedly the man said something to the student and the student cursed at the man and the girl that was with the man,the man then grabbed the kid by the hair and punched him and then the mayem broke loose.As far as seating goes i would figure people would have the sense to either sit on the right side or if they were sitting on the wrong side to not be so stupid,there's a difference between cheering for your team on the wrong side like a normal person,and cheering for your team on the wrong side to cause controversy,although the fight was sord of interesting and fun,it unfortunately overshadowed a great game.Best of luck to both teams in sub state
Those parents and fans have sat there all year. Even though it is a regional game it is there their home gym. The motor mouth is lucky. Probably the nicest man in the gym was the one that held him down. If it was the ruffians as has been insinuated a mud hole would have been stopmed before anybody could have stopped it. You boys are going to have to learn about running them mouths like Central has all year. Going to other places running your mouths just because you are with a crowd has caused many a butt whipping to be carried home. Hope this is a lesson before it happens again.
A fool in the stands thats probably never played sports trying to impress his friends took a lot of credit away from a great ball game.

If that boy is going to try to act like a man better be prepared. Central must be a heck of a place. All you have is a name and nothing else. I remember how Central got started now.A bunch of good Unicoi County boys went over and sowed wild oats many years ago then came back home. Thats why Central is where it is. No other Sullivan County city wants to claim you.

well its about time i get on here since i am on of the more popular people on here! last nights game was crazy but as far as all this crazy talk about the 16 year old getting hit or the woman getting hit i mean maybe they both deserved it if the old bag was runnin her mouth she got what she needed and if the the 16 year old was runnin his mouth he got his but its over now the seating who cares a seat is a seat we dont need unicoi's respect who cares about the devils we beat you 3 out of the 4 times i mean why should we respect you i mean out of 4 games i would like to think anyone would win at least one even the school of the blind could do that! whats that saying even a blind squirrel finds a nut every now and then! and as far as the rent-a-cops go what do they actually do look for the other teams fans to say a bad word o bring news papers or paint there chests thats a biggy around there! those are no TSSAA rule that is just flat out erwin rules! the tournament team was kinda funny with ike and sparks on it please! ike is a joke he is right up there with sparks they are OVER-RATED! but ike is one of the biggest things in erwin but that is not saying much when all thats there is sonic a two screen movie theatre and a couple of pawn shops. i mean he does help take away from the elephant hanging and the meth labs! but its all good! sub-state is coming up and the famous phase "where is carrol" o yea he is buying a ticket to the game! flipper or peter pan who ever you are you better get your erwinnites ready for a beatin!
Scout get on her and crow next year. Tell everybody about anybody you beat 4 out of 4 times. Sorry you won't be her after Central starts playing in their own classification. No district! No regional! Just a basketball season.
Speaking of whats in Erwin. Last I remember about Central. Lets see you go to a softball game you have to leave or go to the bushes for relief. People like you that have to buy an extra pair of panties whats that a 10 mile ride to Kingsport. Where do you eat? Either the BIG MCD"S across the rode or 5 miles down the interstate. Where is your movie theater? Bristol or Kingsport.
If you want to paint something why not paint your face and your butt. That way people couldn't tell which way you are going.

Elizabethton had 4 bad games this year. They were all early in the season. Gonna be a good one.
Should be a good one.
Edge: Elizabethton has the sixth person that quite a few know nothing about. A dad that is a TSSAA ref with a lot of friends.

Now that was a Great Post.
and corner, I stated, pretty emphatically I thought, that I was NOT at the game. And I don't care about total team fouls; so don't bother. If a key player fouls out, or sits a majority of a game because of two or three quick ones, then the "total" is irrevelant.
In Unaka's only other loss, they went down at the whistles of some very bad officiating. In that game the "total fouls" were very lopsided. Four fouled out, two more with four. No contest. But that was the exception. Totals are more an individual thing. Rikki, with four in the first quarter, now that's a number we can all lose sleep over; whereas, EHS with ten in the first quarter, with say, three of them called against subs, then, not a big deal.
It's like in football, when the broadcasters say, "the penalties usually even themselves out." So what? If the "critical calls," calls that often decide a game, or calls like the one discussed concerning #45 go against one team, then the "totals" are essentially meaningless.
Now try to Not forget, my money (and livlihood) was (were) on the Cyclones to win; but I think it's worth making the point. But don't I always?
Nothing that hasn't been said all year. You can play real aggressive defense if you aren't going to get whistled. Any shot Eliz. attempts inside they are fouled on regardless. But on other end its always a clean block. They get a jump ball call when they are standing behind player with both arms wrapped around them.
But they are a good team. A good team uses the breaks they get to their advantage. Like the Unicoi County game. What they had to do. Control the posts and let Slinger miss her 15-20 shots like she always does. Same as 15 turnovers. They scout a team well. Knew Unicoi County plays better than UC did. But of course its the same 3 plays they've run for 25 years. All they had to do is take a step and pick off the weak point passes.

I'm trying to figure out who won the games tonight...the only ones i know are Science Hill beating David Crockett, and Tennessee High beating Greenville...can anyone update me on who else won around the state in AAA boys?
Sullivan Central beat Unicoi County tonight. But thats a AAA team playing a AA.

Claiborne beat Sullivan Central tonight. Pigeon Forge beat Volunteer and Unicoi beat South Greene. I believe Elizabethton probably beat Chuckey-Doak, they were ahead the last I heard.
I was surprised at the South Greene/Unicoi game. I thought Unicoi played really well. South Greene did not.
The finally played the way they are capable of playing. Hali Sparks played probably the best game she has ever played. Big difference finally tonight the Senoirs played most of of the game it really showed. Weaver was in foul trouble most of the game.
Wed. night should be a real game. Refs in region are calling a tight game both ways. Fouls the was allowed all season are now being called. Just might make a difference.
I don't see anyone beating Pigeon Forge. They can all shoot the eyes out and the tightest defense I've seen in may years. Will run an ordinary team to death with as deep a bench they have and players running in and out constantly.

nightmare no more, On a couple occasions, Mainer was actually on the court with both Weaver and Sparks; this seemed to work very well for the Lady Blue Devils ....while it lasted. With those three anchored, Unicoi is a BIG, Talented basketball Team; the kind of Team that can line up and defeat South Greene. I don't envy Coach Fisher; but I feel that he is the man who can get the job done.
Thats the line up. The four senoirs and Mainer. As big as Mainer is she should have played as many minutes as possible early just to be getting her ready for the tournaments. I don't know looks like they are playing for the future instead of the present.

Now to the Unicoi deal. In watching them play several times this season, its apparent they have not developed the type of team chemistry one would have thought. Krich is the optimist, nightmare is the pessimist. Nightmare is closer to the program and as a parent of a player, Im guessing, pretty well knows whats going on "inside the huddle". Fisher is a good coach, in fact many would rate him as the best in our conference. He's no stranger to South Greene and realizes if Unicoi plays like they did this past week, they will lose. Its an great matchup and Im glad it is the game immediately before the cyclones game so I can watch it unfold. Good luck to the Devils.
I'm no more than a dedicated fan of many years. Fisher is a good coach. But something is wrong this year. It goes all the way back to summer ball. The basketball program suffered this year with the addition of volley ball. The Lady Devils had to practice at 6:00 A.M. before school. Only time they could get the gym till the end of October. Not a lot sinks in at that time of morning to a teenager.
I've tried all year to be optimistic with them but as the season wore on I finally gave up that things would change. It doesn't do any good to threaten to bench them for excessive shooting, not hitting the open players. etc. and not following through with it. Eventually they figure out that it doesn't matter how they play they will still be in the game.
What makes it so bad is these senoirs are a heck of a ball team. From middle school on up they've been hard to handle. After 5 games you could see just how much Headley did. Thats when the changes should have been made because it was obvious the job wasn't getting done. Most coaches have figured them out. Let the outside shot be taken and play for the rebound. Thats 15-20 moe possessions a game at least.
If some major adjustments are made they can come back and win some games but being the pessimist and it not happening all year I don't foresee it happening.

I felt, and still do, that those seniors were a great group. I also thought the Lady Cyclones would suffer from lack of depth, especially where Forbes was available for Micheala. It simply hasn't been a problem to this point, but I'm still aghast.
I remember Lingerfelt, Kerns and Headley shooting lights out at Unaka in a classic last season. They also were overwhelming against the Cyclones at Unicoi. I just felt that the outside barrage would continue.
Headley was a Great Player, and you're right, corner, she's the most conspicuous by her absense. But can Engles, Barnett, Lingerfelt and Kerns get it done. I think they can, provided the post team gets back in sync. Everyone needs to go back to the basics, and back to their Natural positions, anchor down and produce some offense.
Unicoi is certainly an inside-out team, and without the post game, the guards will look worse than they actually are.
But I still think they can do it.

The talent is there. Them being able to use it is another question. Hard for Kerns and especially Lingerfelt to get it done sitting on the bench. Starting 5 hasn't been on floor enough together to get into any kind of rythem. Watch the clock Mon. night and you will see. Doesn't matter if they are on a 10 point run with between 3:30 -4:00 minutes left in quarter Lingerfelt and probably one more will come out.
Kellye's basketball skills was wasted. They broke her spirit long ago. She never had the opportunity of being able to play through a mistake or missed shot. She did either and she got subbed for. She started high school with so much confidence in her ability and will leave it with none whatsoever.
The offense can't get in any rythem no matter who is in there when 4 of them spend so much time trying for offensive rebounds. Thats got Sparks and Weaver in foul trouble several times this year. 8 -33 shooting against Central. 2-16 by one player. Made 2 baskets, got own rebound once and Barnett got 1. Rest of shots Central rebounded. 12 turnover could lead to 24 points real easy. Thats what its been all year. When thats allowed to happen whole team suffers.
The guards can shoot the lights out if they can get the ball. Most of time though if the if the ball isn't shot the pass is bounced at their feet giving defense time to recover.
I don't knoe hopefully Fisher can get back the intensity but I don't think so. The problems they have should have been corrected early in the season. Can't wait till tournament time to try to fix them.
I'd like to see them playing Eliz.again but I don't think it will happen. South Greene by 10.
Time for softball to start anyway.

What does it matter about exchanging information? Eliz. has had a scout all year that is being paid by the J.C. Press. Does he turn over all his scouting reports to other teams. If he is getting paid by the paper to cover games everybody should have access to the reports.
