New Region 3 should benefit all the county schools when it comes to wins and losses. Dropping Smyrna and adding Coffee County should result in another win if recent history tell us anything but it will make those in county games even more important.

Well as of 2-2-17 there is NO schedule on the teams web site either.
Is anybody doing anything with the team as to weight training and conditioning? For that matter have we got a strength Coach YET? On the web site it still says TBD.
Coach Pelchat has been the acting strength coach. The real test of any difference will come this summer when we see if they make the iron warrior program mandatory again.

Rehab for DeAndre Litaker is going well. He sound be ready for spring work outs. He will be a dominating force on the line they need..
-
Schedules have not yet been released for the upcoming season.
-
Yes, I believe he did. Thing is his replacement was HITTING the PATs. Now who is he and do we have him for this year?
Actually they replaced him because he moved with two weeks remaining in the season...

Can't get our kicker in the same camp Siegel's kicker went to as James Wilhoit has been hired by Brentwood Academy as their kicking coach and teacher. I doubt they will let him coach kids from other schools anymore.
Oh well. Maybe someone like Harrison Reed will finish College and teach it here when he finishes College.
They will have to find a new kicker. The Ott kid who missed all the PAT's and field goals transferred to Mt Juliet..

Here are some numbers that should give you some food for thought for next year. 23 seniors will be lost to graduation and 22 juniors will be moving up. The younger players will dominate the majority of the roster with 36 sophomores moving up and 35 freshman stepping up into a possible varsity roll. They should have a good foundation with a returning starting QB and running back corps. The pressure will be on the staff to improve but more than that show that they are building a program.

HOT TAKE
What your forgetting is Coach Creasy has a record of state championships under his belt. The program development he has brought to Oakland and with the areas growth will be a force to recon with in the years to come..

RC....what happens at Oakland next year considering they lose a special senior class?
For the first time in the counties history I can tell you what these county schools are doing now with the development of their programs starting with the middle schools and conditioning programs that these county schools are doing what it takes to stay on top are reload year after year which has been the road map the Maryville has used. Oakland will be very strong next year along with Smyrna and Riverdale. These county schools are getting to the point where they don't have to rely on individual talent to stay on top. Its the programs that are becoming a force to recon with.

I was looking at Da Havens schedule last night and they have been dominate this year. This game could go either way. I guessing Oakland hasn't seen speed like Da Haven will bring Saturday and that could be the equalizer
I believe Master Teague not only has the speed but one of the best lateral moves ive seen in years. Oakland will be ready or sure.

Two years in a row Maryville didn't win the championship? I tried telling all you Maryville fans that something was going on in Rutherford County and the changing of the guard may be upon you. You'll always have your history to fall back on. Just don't hang Quarles, there's none better but times change.
-
I don't know how tight things are over there. They will certainly have trouble is things are loose...
For a supposed journalist, you can't spell any better than ol STARS himself. Sad thing is he does it on purpose...
Im just using East Tennessee ebonics so you can understand...
-
Since Maryville has been in 6A has a Rutherford county team won the 6A title?
This is all that Maryville has to hang their hat on.....the past. If they loose again this year, two in a row then maybe they will wake up and see that there maybe a changing a of the guard happening...In consolation, youll always have the past to remember..
-
I watched them play and they were very good
Well if you think their good and your basing on Maryville's level then your in trouble in the weeks to come.
-
Heck, Williamson County is better than Rutherford Co top to bottom.
The only two Williamson County teams left are Franklin and Ravenwood and neither of theses teams could come close this year to Oakland or Maryville.
-
If MP sent you to RuCo to take an in depth look into what is happening there when there hasn't been a championship won in that county in several years, who did MP send to Blount County to figure out how, not one, but two schools 5 miles apart have amassed so many state championships in the last 16 years? Just curious...
This is our first year in RC. We came here not because of individual championships. We came here because of the rapid growth and the number of players this county is putting into D1 and D2 schools. No other county in the country has placed more players into colleges over the past 3 years than Rutherford County. The rapid growth and development of the counties programs is causing this area to be a magnet for families with prospective football players wanting to move here. I understand as a fan you want to beat your chest on Maryville's past and that's great, but ask yourself this, Coach Q wont be there forever and what is Maryville doing to insure growth in that area for he future? Times change and schools change. I can name several schools with similar histories as Maryville who had great programs and coaches for decades who have almost faded off the map. Its not a one year thing or a past record thing. its about who is doing what for the future. Rutherford County is the only county school system to have 3 teams reach the 2nd round and 2 teams to reach the 3rd. Something is happening in this county whether you want to admit it or not. Not saying its going to be this year but if Oakland beats Maryville it could like other areas of the country signal a changing of the guard.
-
OMG you found two!!! Rutherford County has put 32 players into D1 over the past 2 years!
-
Then that is not a program issue it becomes a coaching issue. I believe we have a great Coach at Blackman and alot of parent support. My question to you is this. You said Oakland is the dominant program in the last eight meetings the split is 4 and . Considering Blackman opened its doors in 2000.. vs Oakland opening in 1972 I will take our progress... Btw we were ranked above them both state nationally in M Preps year before last as well
What your not seeming to understand is that the main reason I've been brought here is because what is currently happening not what has happened in the past. 4 years ago this county wasn't even on the national radar. We are doing an in depth look at what's currently happening to cause the growth in football as it pertains to the area, the schools and the coaches. As for the year before we all know Juan Jennings had a lot to do with that but there is a perfect example of what a talented player can do for a school. The key is what happens in those years when you don't have that level of talent? Are you still winning at the same level? Look at Maryville, they put very few players into division one but they continue to win year after year. Its the process and the program that creates that. What we are seeing is that Rutherford County has that same potential to do the same and some of the schools are moving in that direction including Blackman but at this place in time Oakland has a leg up on everyone heading in that direction.

OHHH I get it I can say I think the score will be xxx to xxx in favor of ??? and that doesn't count as a pick or prediction. Considering that M-Preps "put you here, you might want to research the entire set up of the programs around RuCo. Besides the strength and conditioning program that we also have, the skills position coaching, the same off season regiment Blackman youth football league (oh wait that is Blackmans not Oaklands) that feed the middle schools Please enlighten all of us about the "program model" that they have the secret key to. Lets not credit Jacoby Stevens, or any of the athletes they have..
i have met several times with each of the counties coaches his year and have interviewed them a number of times. Ive been in each weight room and spoken with every strength training coach. I heard each and every one of them and their ideas on program building. I have heard the excuses about zoning an school board decisions. Ive heard the coaches frustration abut the lack of parental cooperation. All I can tell you is this. When I met with the Oakland staff on many occasions this year, not once did I hear anything negative. There is a big difference between being a good coach which all of he counties coaches are and taking the steps to build a dominate program. Good coaches can have a good team once in a while based on talent but a great coach build a program that can overcome all excuses. Just as Coach Quarles what it takes..
-
You might want to go back and check yourself... Riverdale 28 Cookeville 21 being decided late in the 4th qtr.... or does that not count as a pick?
Sorry but I never picked that game. Wasn't one of my games of the week.. Look I wish you luck and appreciate your fan loyalty but when it comes to match ups this one is a no brainer..I would love the day when the road to the gold ball came through Rutherford County. That's why I have been put here by M preps because they recognize this county to be the fastest growing county for football in the southeast but currently there is a division in the talent level and program development between the schools. Oakland has the upper hand not just on wins but what the program is doing to make sure they are at the top year after year. The key to that is not having to rely on individual talent but to build a program of consistency much like Maryville has year after year. Can the Rutherford County schools do that? Yes, but its up to the individual coaches and staff and they would all do themselves a service to look at the model the Oakland staff is putting in place.

I bet you do lose a "pick". Like many from the past you have not learned yet.
Oh you mean like Ravenwood? I picked that one too...
-
Oh I know they have their plan in place for this week...my reference was directed to RCKickOff. I know the guy is a heavy Oakland fan as you can see through out his posting that he refers to Oakland as "We" not They...I am cautioning him that there is a game this week and you never know for sure who will do what...
Actually Im not a heavy Oakland fan as you state. I cover all the 6A schools in Rutherford County and have no bias. But what I am is a realist. Ive been Maryville play twice, Blackman 3 times and Oakland 3 times. By far Oakland is "now" way ahead of both these teams. Thus the new national ranking in the top 25. I wish every county team well as I have all year but I have to be objective. And by the way I havent lost a pick all year.
-
Oakland dominated this game on both sides of the ball. Some may say it got a little ugly but you have to give Oakland credit for playing at 100mph the entire game. The broke Science Hill's spirit much as they have with most of their opponents this year. This weeks Blackman/Maryville game should give us a good idea of what to expect in a future semi final matchup with Oakland and Maryville.

Well, the season is over and next year awaits. Looking back this year there have been a lot of questions. The one glaring thing in this reporters eyes is the Jekyell and Hyde team that they were this year. I cant recall a team that was so up one week and down the next. The mistakes and plenalties this year were higher than the past several years. I know it was the first year for this staff but how much of that fall back on them? There seems to be a lack of cohesiveness with this staff. Im not sure if its because they were new or because they may be not on the same page when it comes to what needs to be done. Lets hope they find the discipline they need to instill in the program through work ethic and dedication to the team to take it up another notch next year.

We had offered to pay to have it painted and had found an artist to do it right last fall and were told it was a Nolan project. We'll stay on it and make sure it gets done before next season. Its gotten to the point where it will have to be blasted and repaired before it gets painted.
