  1. MC will come out deflated after losing a big game last week.

They also don’t play well on long trips. They stopped at Tech for a walkthrough en route to the game. They definitely got too excited for that. Add a meal from Chic fil A and these boys won’t be worth a plug nickel.

    SM takes this game 33-27.

  2. TC has just played a more competitive schedule and has been more challenged. That experience made a difference.  And honestly they have more skill top to bottom than MC.  MC could not capitalize on some plays and that’s just an example of inexperience which resulted in a major difference in the game.

  3. Despite what happened to Macon Co. last week, they will stroll into the buttcrack of Sumner Co. and beat Westmoreland. Macon's flaws/weaknesses were put on display last week against a Smith Co. team that is not only rather decent, but also a team that Macon Co. underestimated....in my opinion. While these flaws/weaknesses will likely continue to be an issue/struggle for Macon throughout the season, I don't see them being a big enough issue to prevent Macon from going into Westmoreland and coming out with a victory.

Carlisle will be the best athlete on the field Friday night, and while that obviously didn't matter last week, it will make a difference this week. I believe he is going to will this team to victory. During his high school career, he has only lost to a Westmoreland team one time....in both of his respective sports. And after Friday night, that one loss will continue to be the only loss he has ever had against Westmoreland, while in HS. If you're not smart enough to understand what I'm trying to say here....I'm saying Carlisle has all but owned Westmoreland in whatever he does. Expect the same Friday night.

  4. It is absurd to make the statement that MC's losses to PC and Maplewood were due to MC's coaching staff being "outcoached." PC and Maplewood are much more athletic and those two teams have more speed than MC. As a result, their speed and athleticism wore MC down and prevailed. That's usually what happens in a type of contest when the other team is more athletic and faster than the other. Sure, MC was able to hang around against both of those teams for at least half of the game, and sure, maybe MC should've made some adjustments to their play calling but you can't really adjust to a team being considerably more athletic and faster than you. Like the previous poster said, It's not the x's and o's, it's the jimmies and the joes.

  5. I don't think so.Its depends on where you located. We normally play up and will dip down every now and the to a quality opponent. We have alot of schools to chose from within 45mins. You guys on the other hand it's totally different.

Right. I sarcastically asked that question to Postman after he said MC should be ashamed for playing JC, implying that they should feel ashamed because they are playing a smaller school. There are schools that drop down and play smaller schools all the time. My point to Postman was that there is no reason to be ashamed.

  6. Pearl Cohn and Maplewood seem to be the top two teams in this region. I believe Springfield and Macon County are sandwiched in the middle, Portland next, and then White House. I realize Portland won their region game on Friday and Macon lost, but I think Macon has a better team.

  7. You have to consider the opponent. It's also a silly argument to insinuate that Westmoreland performed better last night because they lost a region game to a trash team when Macon lost to the region favorite. Surely you understand the absurdity.

This person gets it. You can't base Macon's competitiveness within their region on one game in which they were defeated by the region favorite. In my personal opinion, I think Macon will finish fourth, maybe third, in their region which makes them a competitive team within the region. I may be wrong at the end of the season and if so, I'll eat my words, but until they get further into region play, it's not fair to say they're not competitive within their region.

  8. I realize this is a football forum, but the band director at MCHS has done a phenomenal job with those kids. I've seen Pearl Cohn's band in action and they really know how to put on a show. Even if the game is lopsided, the fans oughta receive some excitement from both of the bands.

    Looking forward to Friday night!!

  9. Well we got 4 kids who Run under 11sec in the 100. Vaughn is about the 5th fastest on the team

PC won state in the 4x100 and 4x200 this past year. They won both events by a considerable margin. If any of those guys meaningfully contribute to the football team then it'll look like the MC players are standing still come Friday night.

  10. This MC team is good but the 03 team was a lot better on both sides of the ball and definitely on Special Teams. Pearl has speed and athleticism and MC will not be able to match that. Yes, MC may have some size but size doesn't matter in this contest when ultimately speed kills. It helps that Pearl's football players also particpate in track during the offseason. Most of MC's guys just ride in their diesel trucks and roll coal during their offseason.

  11. Macon County does have some offensive weapons this year but I don't see them beating Pearl-Cohn. It won't be a thrashing like last year but I suspect Pearl-Cohn will be more athletic than MC in almost every position, which will result in a victory for the Firebirds.
