  1. Yes he is a junior this year. His motor runs all four quarters and isn’t scared of anybody he’s up against.
  2. The Groves kid is something special for sure and have other athletes as well. One thing about MC is that they don’t overlook anybody. It will definitely be an intriguing matchup to watch in two weeks.
  3. I thought MC competed very well. We moved the ball well but made a few mistakes that hurt us. We lost 3 touchdowns to 2 however if we play a four quarter game It would be a different story. I don’t really base a team off these scrimmages and jamborees because it’s a lot different when the wins and losses count. But overall, not a bad night for the tigers.
  4. That’s very true that’s why I said might be the best. I’d still probably take Upperman over Rhea most days
  5. It will be held at Cookeville High School. The scrimmage is at 6:30. Looking for the Tigers to be battled tested and Rhea might be the best team we see all year long unless the Tigers make a deep playoff run.
  6. The two twins should see some playing them this fall. They’ll be fun to watch the next four years.
  7. If I had to guess, it’s around 42. About the same as we’ve had over the past few years. Haven’t really went down or up in numbers. Even though that seems low for 4A, those 42 guys give effort all around which I would rather have over 70 plus with only a few that give there all.
  8. Should tell a lot more about us. We will see bigger size for sure so it will tell how we can compete against bigger teams. I’ve so far been impressed with MC this summer despite the lost of the senior class last year.
  9. MC beat Forrest 3 to 1 touchdowns with Forrest scoring in the last series of the varsity portion. MC moved the ball well overall against the Rockets except for one series.
  10. Yes, they scrimmage Forrest at Forrest High School.
  11. Wasn’t able to attend the scrimmage tonight, but positive feedback for the Tigers. Pretty sure the Tigers didn’t let Friendship score a single touchdown tonight. There is certainly many things to still work on, but the Tigers had a good look against people with different colored jerseys. Next week, the tigers travel to Forrest on Tuesday and to cookeville for a scrimmage against Rhea County on Friday.
  12. I could be completely wrong about the team this year, but I feel like the boys are working hard and are behind Shoulders through thick and thin. I do believe they will be better than most think. These upcoming scrimmages will tell a lot about who MC will be this year which starts this Friday against Friendship Christian.
  13. I agree with you. Like I said, 9-1 is a stretch.
  14. I would give the loss to Upperman. I believe MC can beat TC this year. While 9-1 is a stretch, MC is capable is finishing the season with that record.
  15. I completely agree. The rivalry has seemed to grow over the years and I like it. I see our rivalry as big as our rivalry against Smith and Trousdale. MC seems to have more speed this go around. I’m curious to how our line will be this year. From the people I’ve talked to, we are pretty big upfront. As long as MC gets the job done in week 3 against DC, Oct. 1st should be the region championship game.
  16. Can’t really tell about any team until you put them under the lights. Looking forward to playing y’all guys again on the gridiron!
  17. The region stays the same except Upperman joins in on the fun. Unlike the past 4 years, teams will need to win more than just one game to make the playoffs this year. The front-runner and favorite is Upperman to most people. However, MC and DC may have something to say about that. I expect LA and Stone to compete for the fourth seed spot in this region this year. Will Cumberland be able to surprise and shake up the region this year? Thoughts?
  18. I think MC benefits the region change this year regarding the playoffs. I think MC will be able to compete with the teams out of Chattanooga better than the likes of Marshall and Nolensville. However, MC has shown they can compete with tough programs as they defeated several in 7-on-7s this summer. While 7-on-7 is not full pad football, it still shows that MC is good in the secondary and passing game. A key game for the Tigers comes in the third game of the year against DeKalb. Win and the chances of hosting increases. Lose and travel to the likes of Red Bank or East Hamilton. I could see MC going anywhere from 6-4 at worst or 8-2, possibly 9-1 at best. I’d love to see MC prove some doubters wrong and win the region for the first time since 03’
  19. We classify picture day as media day. The local newspapers will take pictures of the team and one newspaper outlet will at times interview a certain player and head coach. So it’s not exactly a media day as you would think.
  20. I haven’t been by any practices this year, but I believe the turnout is pretty good as far as I know. The roster should come available as we approach media day for the tigers and scrimmages.
  21. The Jumbotron will be used in place of the old advertising board in the south end zone. It will display digital advertisements throughout the season. As far as anything else they will use it for, I’m unsure of. But it is definitely an exciting addition to the program and the football field as it should help boost the environment on Friday nights.
  22. MC won another 7-on-7 tournament in Giles County today competing against elite talent. The Tigers did not lose a single game over the past two days. Looking like it could possibly be a special year for the Tigers. According to some TC fellows, MC has great season when the cicadas are out. And they happen to be out this year lol.
  23. MC won the large-class 7-on-7 tournament at Shelbyville today beating defending 5A state champions Summit and beating Shelbyville in the ship. I thought MC looked really good. QB was connecting well with his receivers and pass defense was tremendous. Looking forward to seeing the guys on the field in August.
  24. Good Luck to PC as well! Always enjoyed when we played one another. You all have always have been friendly people when we would come down or y’all would come up. Maybe one of these days we can cross paths again on the gridiron. We are up and coming to be a well presented program as the team keeps improving each year. Shoulders is putting MC on the map and that’s for sure!
